The rate of exclusive breastfeeding from 0 to 6 months in Côte d'Ivoire was 16.67 % in 2014. The objective of this study is to identify the difficulties related to the practice of exclusive breastfeeding of infants from birth to 6 months with a view to finding sustainable solutions for its implementation. A survey study was carried out on a sample of 200 women in the municipality of Bingerville from 7 October 2020 to 7 February 2021. After analysis, the results of the survey show that in the Bingerville locality of Côte d'Ivoire, the difficulties relating to the decline in exclusive breastfeeding are largely linked to the insufficient production of breast milk. The results have made it possible to record some species of food plants. They undoubtedly possess lactogenic properties, which make it possible to cope with the insufficient production of milk in the udder. Thus, after 24 hours, these food plants have made it possible to increase the production of breast milk in the udders intended for infants. The registered food plants will help to ensure the food security of the infant through the improvement of milk production in breastfeeding mothers.

Background Exclusive breastfeeding by healthy mothers to their healthy, term babies who underwent vaginal birth, should be readily accomplished. However, exclusive breastfeeding by Indonesian mothers has declined. Objective To assess the monthly success rate prevalences for exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life, as well as factors that affect exclusive breastfeeding. Methods A prospective cohort study was conducted in 243 healthy mothers with healthy term babies who underwent normal births at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (CMH), Jakarta, Indonesia. Guided interviews were conducted monthly for six months. Bivariate and multivariate analyses were performed on the factors potentially affecting breastfeeding with equal subject numbers. Results Exclusive breastfeeding prevalences were 64.8% (first month), 53.7% (second month), 43% (third month), 30.7% (fourth month), 23.5% (fifth month), and 22.3% (sixth month). Multivariate analysis revealed that the mother’s confidence in breast milk production, as well as husband or family support, affected the success of exclusive breastfeeding for each month. Maternal not working/studying outside the home affected the success of exclusive breastfeeding in the third (RR 3.38; 95%CI 1.21 to 9.43) and fourth months (RR 6.56; 95%CI 1.39 to 30.99).Conclusion Exclusive breastfeeding prevalences in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital decrease in a monthly fashion up to the sixth month. Several factors affecte the success rate for each month in the six month period, including maternal confidence in breast milk production and family support.

Breastfeeding is critical for adequate neonatal microbial and immune system development affecting neonate health outcomes in the short and long term. There is a great interest in ascertaining which are the maternal factors contributing to the milk microbiota and the potential relevance for the developing infant. Thus, our study aimed to characterize the effect of mixed and exclusive breastfeeding practices on the milk microbiota and to determine the impact of pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and weight gain over pregnancy on its composition. Breast milk samples from 136 healthy women were collected within the first month post-partum and milk microbiota profiling was analyzed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Information on breastfeeding habits and maternal-infant clinical data were recorded. Breastfeeding practices (exclusive vs. mixed), maternal pre-gestational BMI, and weight gain over pregnancy contributed to the milk microbiota variation. Pre-gestational normal-weight women with exclusive breastfeeding habits harbored a significantly higher abundance of Bifidobacterium genus, and also, higher alpha-diversity compared to the rest of the women. Our results confirm the importance of controlling weight during pregnancy and breastfeeding practices in terms of milk microbiota. Further studies to clarify the potential impact of these maternal factors on milk and infant development and health will be necessary.

Indonesia is still categorized as low in 2017, only 35.73% with a target of 50%. West Sumatra Province occupies the fifth position with exclusive breastfeeding coverage of 73.6%. The percentage of babies with exclusive breastfeeding in the city of Padang in 2017 was 74.77% of the target of 80%. Andalas Puskesmas has the lowest exclusive breastfeeding coverage of 59.84%. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between hormonal contraceptive use and breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers in the Kubu Village in the Parak Karakah Work Area of the Andalas Padang Health Center in 2019. This type of research was analytic with a cross sectional design. The population of mothers who have babies aged 1-6 months is 268 people with a sample of 73 people. Purposive sampling technique. Analyzed univariately using a frequency distribution table and bivariate using the Chi-Square statistical test. Univariate analysis results showed there were more than half (57.5%) with insufficient milk production. More than half (67.1%) use hormonal birth control. The results of bivariate analysis have a relationship between the use of hormonal contraception with the production of breast milk (X2h> X2t). The conclusion is that there is a relationship between hormonal contraceptive use factors, and milk production. It is expected that health workers can provide counseling to nursing mothers by providing health education about efforts to increase milk production.
