Information Technology Impact Factor Model in Life Cycle Cost Management of Construction Project

Construction project management and cost management is a difficult process that affects the overall success of construction projects. The success of a construction project can be assessed according to key performance indicators (KPIs). Cost savings and cost optimization over the life of a construction project is one of these KPIs. Cost management is largely performed through intelligent information technology in the construction industry. Information systems and information technologies have seen an increase in use in the management of construction projects. The same goes for cost management. Several studies mentioned in the paper point to this increase in use in recent years also in the management of costs at various stages. Many studies point to the use of information technology and software applications in the field of cost management. Still, to a large extent, there are no surveys focused on the analysis of the impact and impact factor of information technology on cost savings or cost optimization in various phases of construction projects. The research discusses the issue of the impact of information technology on cost management in various phases of a construction project. The main goal of the research is to analyze the influence of information technology factors on cost savings and optimization in individual phases of a construction project. Several statistical methods were used in the research. The resulting model of information technology impact factor was created based on data processing and the use of the AHP method.

Indigena Solutions, Tensions in an Aboriginal IT Impact Sourcing Firm

This paper explores the role of cultural tensions in the operations of an Information Technology Impact Sourcing (ITIS) venture called Indigena Solutions. The company was based in Vancouver Canada and was intended to provide meaningful careers to a marginalized group, namely Canadian Indigenous Peoples. The company provided on-shore IT services such as help-desk support and software testing. With the support of Accenture and with initial success at high profile clients such as BC Hydro and Vancouver City Trust, the company lasted about seven years. Indigena was declared bankrupt in 2017. This research demonstrates the cultural tensions inherent in creating an Impact Sourcing venture, with challenges of location, the inability to attract Indigenous workers to a non-traditional career, and the underlying challenge of structural racism, despite the recognized social responsibility and commitment to help a marginalized group. The research was designed as a case study using an interpretive approach. The originality of this research rests on the exploration of why Impact Sourcing in a developed country failed to meet the needs of the marginalized Indigenous Peoples community. This research contributes to the body of work that explains tensions inherent in ITIS. Practitioners may find this research valuable as they consider the challenges of establishing and successfully operating an ITIS firm.

Evaluation of information technology impact on bank’s performance: The Ghanaian experience

With the introduction of information technology (IT), a lot of organizations are making significant investment on them. These organizations see IT as a tool for having a competitive advantage. This increasing dependence on IT by organizations has generated the debate to assess its impact on organization’s performance. The results of previous studies on IT and firms’ performance are consistently attributed to the lack of valid quantitative measures. Non-parametric models like data envelopment analysis (DEA) have been suggested to be a good qualitative measure of IT impact on organizations performance compared to parametric methods. This current study applied a two-stage DEA model on 444 Ghanaian bank branches. The efficiencies were determined using the Robust DEA package in R programming. The results suggested that IT had significant impact on the banks’ overall performance as a good number of them (78.82%) were efficient in their entire operations, even though their respective efficiencies in deposit and investment were not good. In conclusion, further studies can combine DEA with machine learning algorithms to study the impact of IT on firms’ performances using the study’s data.

Information Technology Impact on Productivity

The notion that an increase in information technology investments will result in a positive impact on productivity has been deliberated comprehensively at various levels. Initial studies have established that, there was no link between investment in IT and productivity while others suggested otherwise. Even though there is a growing number of an academic studies on this topic, most of them has been centered on America, Asia and Europe. This current article reviews and analyzes literatures on the topic and presents a quantitative analysis of the literatures on continental bases. The study uses PRISMA Flow diagram and examined 141 studies that have been published between 1990 and 2017. The results suggested that Europe led with 36.88%, whilst Africa has not contributed much to IT and productivity literature with just 8.51%. The study therefore concluded that more studies on the topic should be done using data from Africa.
