The results of a comparative analysis of the images of giants in the mythological traditions of geographically close unrelated peoples — the Ob Ugrians (Khanty and Mansi) and the Zabolotny Tatars are presented in the article. It is noted that the assimilation and leveling of the features of the giants images in original cultures did not occur, despite the fact that the myths of the West Siberian peoples were subjected to processes of mutual influence. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between the external features and the origin of mythological characters (giants) with the specifics of the geoclimatic landscapes inhabited by the peoples that form the epic. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that for the first time the genesis, attributes and functions of the mythological heroes of unrelated peoples living in adjacent territories — the Ob Ugrians and the Zabolotny Tatars — are compared. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that the image of a giant has significant prospects in the reconstruction of an ethnic cultural space, since, being one of the most archaic characters in myths, at the same time it remains a part of modern cultural consciousness. The author’s vision of the common and unique features of giants as distinctive characters of the Ob-Ugric and Siberian Tatar mythological systems is presented in the article. The research materials were myths and legends of the peoples of Western Siberia, records of oral stories of the indigenous inhabitants of the region, collected by the authors during field expeditions.

The paper is dedicated to the relationship of E. P. Kovalevsky and F. M. Dostoevsky in the 40s and 60s of the 19th century. The work examines the writers’ sociopolitical views during the period of their participation in the circle of M. V. Petrashevsky and the meetings of S. F. Durov and A. I. Palm. Both writers being influenced by the ideas of the Petrashevtsy inevitably affected their work and, in particular, the narrator’s, the typology of heroes. The friendly relationship between E. P. Kovalevsky and F. M. Dostoevsky was to be continued within the framework of the Literary Fund activities. Kovalevsky highly appreciated Dostoevsky’s work in the Fund. Since 1860, the writer was an indispensable participant in all literary readings and performances. Consideration is given to the aspects of mutual understanding and mutual influence bringing the two artists together in solving complex issues: the attitude to Russian life, the situation and psychology of modern man in Russia and the West, the Eastern question on the example of Kovalevsky’s essay “An episode from the war of the Montenegrins with the Austrians” and chapters from “A Writer’s Diary” for July - August 1876 “Idealist-Cynics” and “Should One Be Ashamed of Being an Idealist?” by Dostoevsky. They are united by a caring attitude towards the Slavic peoples. For the first time, this paper presents the unpublished letters of Kovalevsky to Dostoevsky and the letters of Palm to Kovalevsky.

The primary research goal is to identify differences and diagnostic features of the phytolith spectra of the steppe and forest phytocoenoses. The paper presents the research results of recent soils from various communities. The authors employ the phytolith analysis method. The isolation of phytoliths from recent soils has been carried out with the help of the maceration method and from plants – the dry ashing method. The authors counted the phytoliths using the Olympus BX-51 light microscope. Additionally, the authors have compiled the spectra using the 2C software. The paper compares the phytolith spectra of plain and mountain steppe phytocoenoses. The comparison reveals that the considered plain communities are more similar in phytolith composition than the mountain ones. The following morphotypes are common for all spectra: low conical rondel particles and psilate ribbed particles. These are the forms that characterize steppe communities. Analysis of phytolith spectra of the mountain forest communities demonstrates that the presence of ribbed particles of psilate is common for all spectra. The common feature of all forest spectra is the presence of psilate symmetrical particles, polylobate trapeziforms, lanceolates (trichomes) with a massive base, and trapeziform bilobate (“Stipa-type”) particles. In the spectra of all pine forests, there is a low content or complete absence of needle phytoliths. Diagnostic features of individual phytocoenoses have not been found. The most significant is the ratio of individual phytolith forms in the phytolith spectrum. The comparative analysis of phytolith spectra of the phytocoenoses in the south of western Siberia is carried out for the first time.

This paper traces the history of the relationship between Africa and the West since their first contact brought about by the outward thrust of the West, under the impetus of rising capitalism, in search of cheap labour and cheap raw material for its industries and expanding markets for its industrial products, both of which could be better ensured through domination and exploitation. The paper identifies five successive stages that African political economy has passed through under the impact of this relationship, each phase qualitatively different from the other but all having the common characteristic of domination-dependence syndrome, and each phase having been dictated by the dynamics of capitalism in different eras and by the dominant forces in the changing international system. Its finding is that the way to the latest stage, the dependency phase, was paved by the progressive proletarianization of the African peoples and the maintenance of an international peonage system. It ends by indicating the direction in which Africa can make a beginning to break out of dependency and achieve liberation.

The substantiation of parameters of the 3D observation system is considered from the perspective of the Kirchhoff migration. At the first step of this transformation, on the basis of diffraction transformation on a gather of CSP, the problem of wavelet extraction reflected from specified points of the medium (image points) is solved. The characteristic of the directivity of this transformation is determined by parameters of the arrangement of devices. At the second step, summation is performed by gathers of the common image point (СIP). The distribution density of the observation system sources determines the stacking fold by CIP. In the process of selecting survey parameters, the comparative analysis of equivalent observation systems with the same data properties for the migration task, but with different parameters of the observation system, is of great important. The relationship between the step of common midpoints of the observation system and the step of traces of resulting images of the medium is discussed. The Gaussian beam migration algorithm is considered as a method for solving the problem of constructing an image of the medium that correctly takes into account the irregularity of the initial data.

According to the feature of the second oil layer in the west block of Beierxi, this paper investigated the relationship between the permeability contrast and the recovery efficiency, and the relationship between the permeability contrast and the descent range of water cut of polymer flooding, using the numerical simulation. From the comparative analysis of the development effect with different methods of polymer-injection, it got the boundary of the interlayer permeability contrast of the positive and inverted rhythm layer in the second oil layer with the separated zone and separated quality polymer-injection respectively. That provided certain theoretical foundation for carrying on the polymer flooding in the region of interest.

Ferrite with mixed complex oxides BiNaFe2O5, BiKFe2O5 was synthesized by high temperature solid state reaction. The structure of the ferrites, type of syngony, parameters of the unit cells, radiographic and pycnometric densities were determined by X-ray phase analysis for a first time: BiNaFe2O5 – а=5,577, с=13,86 Å, γ=120º, Vun.cell. = 373,9 Å3, Z=4, ρrad.= 7,5262 г/см3, ρpicn.=7,5271 г/см3, BiKFe2O5 –а=5,545, с=13,65 Å, γ=120º, Vun.cell.= 363,45Å3, Z=6, ρrad.= 8,0367, ρpicn.=8,0375 г/см3. A comparative analysis of the relationship between crystal lattice parameters with parameters of the crystal lattice of initial oxides and complex ferrites has been performed. Research dependence of the magnetic moment of the complex ferrite BiNaFe2O5 of the applied magnetic field at a constant temperature T = 6.1405 K showed a paramagnetic shift in the structure.

Abstract. The development of federalism in the context of the neoliberal era in the 2000s has partly created the conditions for a more stable co-operation between the federal and Quebec governments, contributing to the trend of separatism being sidelined in Quebec. In the context of neoliberalism, federal–provincial agreements have created conditions for just enough asymmetry in the relationship between the federal government and Quebec, something that Quebec has historically demanded, for separatism to remain off the agenda. What separates this relationship from past ones is a significant change in the context whereby the neoliberal orientation is becoming the common currency for co-operation. If Canadian federalism continues its present course under neoliberalism without any major mishaps, for the first time since the divisive period of the 1990s and early 2000s, federal–Quebec relations likely will be stable without national unity crises of the kind that culminated in the 1980 and 1995 Quebec referenda on sovereignty.Résumé.

The paper throws light on newly discovered Sabaean cult inscriptions, also known as 'gift inscriptions'. Offered to the gods in their temples, gift inscriptions supply us many details about the relationship between the people and their gods. They are written on either the offering itself or the offering table. Very often were the offerings in the form of a written inscription, as is the case with the subject of my paper: a bronze slab bearing inscriptions. These inscriptions are offered to the Sabaean Moon God Ilumquh, to grant the donor peace, health, protection and satisfaction and to keep them away from hateful and jealous ones. The importance of these inscriptions lies in the first-time mention of the tribe of Aser; Aser is now the name of a mountain located in the west of the Yemeni Cap ital, Sana' a. These inscriptions indicate that Aser was the place where the tribe settled or at least is somehow related to it. The inscriptions also mention for the first time the name ofllumquh's temple. However, if this temple is not located in Aser, it would be in some place nearby Sana' a, possibly Arhab. To our knowledge, the temple belonged to the god Taleb. Does this imply that the temple was dedicated to both gods? Maybe, evidence from the Sabaean civilization confirm the existence of temples dedicated to multiple gods. The events of February 1917, presented on the pages of the church periodicals of Western Siberia, is examined in the article. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that for the first time in Russian historiography the political upheavals of this period have been analyzed on the basis of materials from regional diocesan records. The authors note that the diocesan records are an important historical source. A detailed analysis of the content of articles of Omsk, Tobolsk, Tomsk periodicals (“Diocesan Gazette”) on the presentation of the political events of February 1917 in them is carried out. The novelty of the research lies in identifying the attitude of the regional clergy to the revolutionary events in the period from February to April 1917. The presented results of the comparative analysis can be grouped according to the chronology and significance of the events that took place. The article concludes that it was during this period that one could hear the opinion of the Russian Orthodox Church on political changes in the country. It is noted that of particular interest were the issues of the relationship between the Church and the Provisional Government, this topic remained the most acute after the fall of the monarchy. It is shown that the representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church wanted to restore historical justice and receive autonomous government and independence from the secular authorities.

E-sports within the gaming industry characterize an economic sector that is engaged in the developing, marketing, and sale of video games. They represent many opportunities for advertising and public relations, which are very important to increase the visibility of e-sports. The use of both has proved far more effective, because it allowed a rapid increase in their popularity. The aim of this chapter is to compare the use of public relations and advertising in e-sports and to determine their appropriateness. So, the relationship between public relations, advertising, and e-sports is developed and researched for the first time here. The authors used qualitative comparative analysis between public relations and advertising in the context of e-sports based on Natus Vincere, one of the most important Ukrainian organizations in the gaming industry. The rise of the gaming industry and recent success of e-sports demonstrate the profitable economic potentials of gaming spectatorship.
