Abstrak Motivasi kerja dapat didefinisikan sebagai suatu dorongan secara psikologis kepada seseorang yang menentukan arah dari perilaku (direction of behavior) seseorang dalam organisasi, tingkat usaha (level of effort), dan tingkat kegigihan atau ketahanan di dalam menghadapi suatu halangan atau masalah (level of persistence). Jadi motivasi kerja dapat diartikan sebagai semangat kerja yang ada pada karyawan yang membuat karyawan tersebut dapat bekerja untuk mencapai tujuan tertentu. Sesuai dengan tingkatan motivasi manusia yang dikemukakan maka upah atau gaji termasuk pada kebutuhan dasar. Good Watson memberikan komentar : bahwasannya dengan memberikan gaji yang cukup tinggi belum tentu menjamin adanya kepuasan kerja bagi karyawan. Jadi gaji atau upah bukanlah satu-satunya faktor yang dapat menimbulkan kepuasan bagi seseorang. Dalam perspektif kristiani kerja adalah suatu fakta alkitabiah bahwa kata ‘kerja’ pertama kali muncul dikenakan pada identitas Allah, pada diri Allah dan bukan diri manusia (Kejadian. 2:2: “Ketika Allah pada hari ketujuh telah menyelesaikan pekerjaan yang dibuat-Nya itu, berhentilah Ia pada hari ketujuh dari segala pekerjaan yang telah dibuat- Nya itu”). Dengan kata lain, kerja adalah salah satu hakekat Allah. Ketika manusia bekerja, sesungguhnya itu adalah bagian dari gambar dan rupa Allah yang ia miliki (Kejadian 1:26, 27). Binatang dan mahluk-mahluk lain tidak bekerja. Kerja bukanlah kutukan Taman Eden. Dengan demikian, ketika kita bekerja, kita menjalankan hakekat kita sebagai manusia. Hakekat manusia yang merupakan turunan dari hakekat Allah. Manusia yang tidak bekerja telah kehilangan hakekatnya sebagai manusia. Manusia yang lebih menyukai bermalas-malasan juga telah kehilangan hakekatnya sebagai manusia. Dengan demikian, kerja yang adalah hakekat yang diberikan Allah kepada manusia hendaknya menjadi motivasi kerja kepada setiap umat-Nya.

Globalisation era is surely passed on and to lead the people of the world into social interactive one another and also economical competitiveness. How far is DKI Jakarta Government preparing to be up against the global competitiveness in the frame-work to manifest improving the standard of living like advanced of society. There are some of indicators to be used as well as criterion to measure an achievement level of effort to be advanced of society, i.e infrastructure which needed by entrepreneur like : permission, taxation, laboract, traffic road, customs and harbor, publics infrastructure servicing, landuse, security condition, business financial access, and business environment condition. It was the research analysis be done by using data gathering from entrepreneur opinion at the operational area. The aim of research analysis is to measure how level of each indicator value has DKI Jakarta Government prepared to be up against the global competitiveness ? The research conclusion says that : DKI Jakarta Government has well enough prepared to be up against the global competitiveness. The weakness indicator is just taxation because its category included in bad (goodless) while the other indicators are well enough. The measuring parameters due to weakness taxationare time necessity for servicing to arrange tax, amount and various of region retribution, amount and various of region tax, and clarity of tax arrangement prucedure.

AbstractStereotypes matter for economic interaction if counterparty utility is informed by factors other than price. Stereotyped agents may engage in efforts to counter stereotype by adapting to in-group standards. We present a model informing the optimal extent of these efforts depending on an agent’s (a) share of total transactions between out- and in-group agents; and (b) share of repeated transaction pairings with in-group counterparties. Low values of (a) suppress the effect of adaptation efforts on the stereotype itself (persistence). In turn, low values of (b) mean that out-group agents cannot dissociate from stereotype (stickiness). Significantly, the model implies that the optimum level of effort may require adaptation beyond in-group standards, and that such over-adaptation attains maximum likelihood in cases where stereotype is sticky and persistent at the same time. We test our model with data on private equity buyout investments conducted in Japan between 1998 and 2015 by domestic Japanese and Anglo-Saxon funds. We document that the latter not only adapt, but eventually over-adapt. In addition, we show that their efforts are effective in reducing a premium initially asked by domestic counterparties.

PurposeThis paper aims to propose user experience sharing (UES) as a customer-based initiation of value co-creation pertaining to service provision, which represents customers’ level of effort made for the direct benefit of others in their service network. The authors propose and empirically examine a user experience sharing model (UESM) that explicates customer-to-customer (C2C) UES and its impacts on firm-desired customer-based outcomes in online communities.Design/methodology/ApproachBased on an extensive review, the authors conceptualize UES and UESM. By using online survey data collected from mobile app users in organic online communities, the authors performed structural equation modeling analyses by using AMOS 24.FindingsThe results support the proposed UESM, showing that C2C UES acts as a key driver of both firm-desired customer efforts and customer insights. The results also confirmed that service-dominant (S-D) logic-informed motivational drivers exert a significant impact on C2C UES. Importantly, C2C UES mediates the relationship between S-D logic-informed motivational drivers and firm-desired customer-based outcomes.Originality/valueThis study offers a pioneering attempt to develop an overarching concept, UES, which reflects customers’ initiation of value co-creation, and to empirically examine C2C UES. The empirical evidence supports the key contention that firms should proactively facilitate C2C UES.

Abstract Quantitative seismology is based firmly on the analysis of actual ground motions, and the transition to digital recording in the 1980s enabled sophisticated new capabilities to extract useful results from waveforms. With some effort, these tools can also be applied to analog records. Focusing on assets available within U.S. institutions, we review the necessary steps and the challenges in enabling “data rescue”—that is, preserving the scientific information latent in large analog seismogram archives and making it usable. They include: determining what assets are available (the analog seismogram archives held by various institutions, with associated metadata on instrument responses, station locations, and timing information); developing a consensus on the top level of a triage process (which analog records most definitely should be rescued?); deciding the level of quality needed in copying original seismograms to media suitable for digitizing; assessing the relative merits of scanning and digitizing; and, the need for a community service in distributing scans and digital records, as they accumulate. The necessary level of effort can benefit from practical experience. For example, specific studies have used digitized versions of analog recordings to model earthquake sources and assess seismic hazard. Other studies have used them to gain experience with nuclear explosion signals recorded at regional distances, noting that regional signals enable explosions to be monitored down to levels much lower than those attainable teleseismically. The opportunities presented by large archives of analog seismograms include the insights they present to current and future seismologists studying earthquakes and explosions, into the practical areas of assessing seismic hazard, monitoring for test ban compliance down to low explosion yields—and prompt characterization of actual explosions should they occur, as well the traditional academic pursuit of a better understanding of earthquake physics.

In some cases, the level of effort required to formulate and solve an engineering design problem as a mathematical optimization problem is significant, and the potential improved design performance may not be worth the excessive effort. In this article we address the tradeoffs associated with formulation and modeling effort. Here we define three core elements (dimensions) of design formulations: design representation, comparison metrics, and predictive model. Each formulation dimension offers opportunities for the design engineer to balance the expected quality of the solution with the level of effort and time required to reach that solution. This paper demonstrates how using guidelines can be used to help create alternative formulations for the same underlying design problem, and then how the resulting solutions can be evaluated and compared. Using a vibration absorber design example, the guidelines are enumerated, explained, and used to compose six alternative optimization formulations, featuring different objective functions, decision variables, and constraints. The six alternative optimization formulations are subsequently solved, and their scores reflecting their complexity, computational time, and solution quality are quantified and compared. The results illustrate the unavoidable tradeoffs among these three attributes. The best formulation depends on the set of tradeoffs that are best in that situation.

Attitude is “a mental and neural state of readiness, organised through experience, and exerting a directive or dynamic influence upon the individual’s response to all objects and situations with which it is related”. While attitudes are basically learned over the years, some inherited characteristics do affect such attitudes. Our personal experiences with people and situations develop our attitude towards such persons and situations. During the implementation of the panchayati raj system Chhattisgarh has faced several opportunities and difficulties. The institutionalising panchayati raj. What, then, are the circumstances under which panchayat can improve the work effectiveness of their members through influences on individual choices about the level of effort and about strategy? The interview schedule was used as a tool for collecting the raw information from the panchayat leaders. In all 263 respondents from 9 janpads were interviewed personally to obtain the requisite data. It was found that majority of the janpad and jila panchayat leaders (58.73%) had moderately favourable attitude towards panchayati raj institutions. Majority of the janpad and jila panchayat leaders were middle-aged, belonged to other backward classes, most of them were educated up to higher secondary, they belonged to large size families with more than five members each and most of them had membership in one or more social organizations signifying high social participation.

The Portable Document Format (PDF) is one of the most common document file types in academia, both in the library and the classroom. Unfortunately, PDF poses unique barriers to accessibility, particularly for the visually impaired. Ensuring that all people can read PDF content can be complex and expensive. There are alternative formats that can be made accessible with a lower level of effort, providing a better experience for both the end reader and the document author. This article serves as a call to arms for higher education to migrate away from PDF and to urge the tech community to develop new file formats that lend themselves to enhanced accessibility on a limited budget.

LADI BEATRIEX DEENG. Determination of Utilization and Management Status of Bonito (Auxis Rochei) Caught in South Bolaang-Mongondow and East Bolaang-Mongondow Waters of North Sulawesi. Supervised by Mr. JOHN S. KEKENUSA as main supervisor, and Mr. HANNY A. H. KOMALIG as co-supervisor.Bonito (Auxis rochei), needs to be managed properly because even though it is a renewable biological resource, it can experience overfishing, depletion or extinction. One way to approach the management of fish resources is by modeling. The analysis was carried out aiming to determine the status of utilization and management of bonito and maximum sustainable yield (MSY) using the Surplus Production Model. Data on catching and efforts to catch bonito is collected from the Marine and Fisheries Service of South Bolaang-Mongondow Regency and East Bolaang-Mongondow of North Sulawesi. The surplus production model that can be used to determine the catch of bonito is the Schaefer model. The maximum sustainable catch of bonito is 869.556 tons per year, obtained at the level of catching effort of 933 trips. For 2017 the level of utilization is 64.95 % so that production can still be increased, with a level of effort of 73.74 % indicating the level of effort that is not optimal and can still be increased. Keywords : Bonito, Surplus Production Model, South Bolaang-Mongondow and   East Bolaang-Mongondow Regency

This chapter explores people’s accounts of what it felt like to first identify as atheists. In talking about this, they rely on one of two acquisition frames. The teleological frame depicts atheism as an outcome of one’s personal growth, whereas the situational frame casts it in terms of being a consequence of one’s lived context. In providing these accounts, they also say that identifying as an atheist took either a modest or a considerable level of effort on their part. Taken together, these two sets of categories provide four “ideal types” of atheist identity acquisition narratives: inquisitives (teleological frame, modest effort); searchers (teleological frame, considerable effort); consolidators (situational frame; modest effort); and responders (situational frame; considerable effort). Most of this chapter is focused on describing these four narrative types in detail.
