Processing of Aluminium-Silicon Alloy with Metal Carbide as Reinforcement through Powder-Based Additive Manufacturing: A Critical Study

Powder-based additive manufacturing (PAM) is a potential fabrication approach in advancing state-of-the-art research to produce intricate components with high precision and accuracy in near-net form. In PAM, the raw materials are used in powder form, deposited on the surface layer by layer, and fused to produce the final product. PAM composite fabrication for biomedical implants, aircraft structure panels, and automotive brake rotary components is gaining popularity. In PAM composite fabrication, the aluminium cast alloy is widely preferred as a metal matrix for its unique properties, and different reinforcements are employed in the form of oxides, carbides, and nitrides. However, for enhancing the mechanical properties, the carbide form is predominantly considered. This comprehensive study focuses on contemporary research and reveals the effect of metal carbide’s (MCs) addition to the aluminium matrix processed through various PAM processes, challenges involved, and potential scopes to advance the research.

The Cruelty of Supersessionism: The Case of Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The impact of the Shoah on Christian biblical and theological studies has been significant. The Christian doctrine of supersessionism, the replacement of the Jews and Judaism by the Christian church, has come in for particular criticism. Some more traditional scholars have either ignored these critiques or suggested that they were shaped not by critical study of the biblical text but by Christian guilt. It is also argued that the supersessionist argument is so thoroughly woven into the Christian story that extracting it would destroy the story itself. For some, it appears that there is no Christianity without supersessionism. This paper argues not only that this challenge to supersessionism was indeed the result of post-Shoah reflection, but that such challenges were appropriate and necessary. It does this in part by considering the case of German pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer whose early citations of the “teachings of contempt” were challenged by the violence of Nazis and the clarity of their intent to destroy both the Jews and, eventually, the church. A non-supersessionist Christianity is both possible and necessary, not simply to preserve the relationship between Christians and Jews, but to enable both communities to engage in the work of “consummation” and “redemption” that God has entrusted to them.

In other words, we can say that life of the women protagonists in the novels of Anita Desai and Nature are closely connected with each other. As Nature and women both have the power of nurturing and sustenance, which means both of them carry maximum similar feminine qualities. Modern society has unknowingly been dominated by modern technology which makes humans passive and uncritical of social conditions, as well as receptive. That people no longer live with technology, but is controlled by technology, this rationality can be seen when cellphones do not have a connection to the internet, it can be said that they will be out of date because they cannot update the latest information. This becomes an interesting discussion because it is almost felt by students, especially students of IAIN Kediri. This research uses a critical study of Herbert Marcuse's technological rationality which leads to one-dimensional humans or commonly referred to as One Dimensional Man. Therefore, this study seeks to explain the phenomena that occur among students related to meeting the needs of data packages that can affect various aspects of their daily lives. The results of this study are the need for a data package for the students of IAIN Kediri as a primary need. This is because with the data package students are able to find out the latest information on matters related to lectures, on the other hand, with the student data package, smartphones are also dominated by various features in it.

Bio-Stabilised Earthen Blocks: A Critical Study on Compression Tests of Immersed Samples

Currently, much consideration is given to earthen building materials regarding their highly sustainable properties. Numerous studies have highlighted their structural ability but their water sensitivity is still limiting a potentially more spread use. To limit this sensitivity several studies have recently brought out the positive effects of bio-stabilisers such as linseed oil or xanthan gum. These recent developments allow bio-stabilized earthen materials to be resistant to immersion in water. Also, a French experimental standard (XP P 13-901) for compressed earth blocks already asks for a minimal compressive strength after a two-hour immersion that is overly severe and is difficult to satisfy without the addition of high contents of hydraulic binders. In this paper, a critical study of this compressive test after immersion is conducted on bio-stabilized (linseed oil and xanthan gum) samples of different Breton earths. Some testing adjustments are suggested and the water-diffusion in the samples is followed and linked to previously obtained capillary absorption coefficients. It is shown that the effect of immersion on the mechanical strength depends on the sample size and that an equivalence between size and immersion time can be made based on an equivalent penetration depth. Linseed oil and xanthan gum help to significantly increase the compressive strength of the earthen materials after immersion and allow to avoid the addition of hydraulic binders in earthen blocks to obtained a strong water resistance. The water diffusion in the sample during the immersion can be linked to capillary absorption behaviour, thus a water content and a compressive strength after a given time of immersion could be easily predicted.

A critical study on female roles in television commercials of Bangladesh

Media representation of female gender roles in advertising are relentlessly contested themes in a traditional society. Stereotypical representation not only limits the socially accepted traditional roles of gender, but also has an impact on how people perceive women. This study has focused on how women characters are constructed in order to understand reflection of stereotypical gender norms in Bangladeshi television commercials. Stuart Hall’s representation theory has adapted as the framework for conceptualizing the context of this study and scrutinizing the data. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, this paper has explored how such representations constitute unequal gender identities, traditional norms and perpetuate subtle forms of colorism towards women. This study found that dominant patriarchal ideology is deeply embedded in television commercials of Bangladesh; there is a discrimination towards the construction of women's image. Moreover, such media representations generate the ideology of beauty in a negative way and push the concept of colorism towards women.

A note on machine method for root extraction

The present investigation deals with the critical study of the works of Lancaster and Traub, who have developed $n$th root extraction methods of a real number. It is found that their developed methods are equivalent and the particular cases of Halley's and Householder's methods. Again the methods presented by them are easily obtained from simple modifications of Newton's method, which is the extension of Heron's square root iteration formula. Further, the rate of convergency of their reported methods are studied.
