Abstract Radio astronomy is undergoing a renaissance, as the next generation of instruments provides a massive leap forward in collecting area and therefore raw sensitivity. However, to achieve this theoretical level of sensitivity in the science data products, we need to address the much more pernicious systematic effects, which are the true limitation. These become all the more significant when we consider that much of the time used by survey instruments, such as the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), will be dedicated to deep surveys. CHILES is a deep H i survey of the COSMOS field, with 1000 hr of Very Large Array time. We present our approach for creating the image cubes from the first epoch, with discussions of the methods and quantification of the data quality from 946 to 1420 MHz—a redshift range of 0.5−0. We lay out the problems we had to solve and describe how we tackled them. These are important because CHILES is the first deep wide-band multiepoch H i survey and has relevance for ongoing and future surveys. We focus on the accumulated systematic errors in the imaging, as the goal is to deliver a high-fidelity image that is only limited by the random thermal errors. To understand and correct these systematic effects, we ideally manage them in the domain in which they arise, and that is predominately the visibility domain. CHILES is a perfect test bed for many of the issues we can expect for deep imaging with the SKA or ngVLA, and we discuss the lessons we have learned.

AbstractSynthetic Biology aims to create predictable biological circuits and fully operational biological systems. Although there are methods to create more stable oscillators, such as repressilators, independently controlling the oscillation of reporter genes in terms of their amplitude and period is only on theoretical level. Here, we introduce a new oscillator circuit that can be independently controlled by two inducers in Escherichia coli. Some control components, including σECF11 and NahR, were added to the circuit. By systematically tuning the concentration of the inducers, salicylate and IPTG, the amplitude and period can be modulated independently. Furthermore, we constructed a quantitative model to forecast the regulation results. Under the guidance of the model, the expected oscillation can be regulated by choosing the proper concentration combinations of inducers. In summary, our work achieved independent control of the oscillator circuit, which allows the oscillator to be modularized and used in more complex circuit designs.

Abstract: This paper explores the possibilities for the Semiotic to elaborate the concept of current affairs by explaining and integrating the common use of the term into its theoretical and analytical corpus. It depends to a large extent on the linguistic and semiotic concept of actualization, and because of this it is conceivable to speak rigorously of current semiotics, that is, current discourse. As these are constituted in a hierarchical and changing manner in their moments of validity, it is necessary for Semiotics, in dialogue with other disciplines, to critically dissect the historical development of their current discourse. Thus, from a more general analytical theoretical level, an explanation of the character of contemporary discourses is proposed and the way in which the human body is involved in them is exemplified. The conclusions highlight the fact that this is one way, among others, by which Semiotics can achieve actuality.

The reasons why companies implement comprehensive risk management and the benefits it can bring to companies have been a subject of academic interest. However, there is still room for further exploration of this topic for the following three reasons: firstly, most of the existing literature is focused on the study of corporate performance and value, and there is less research on the level of corporate financing constraints; secondly, a few papers have initially explored the relationship between the implementation of comprehensive risk management and corporate financing costs, but the research on the intrinsic impact mechanism remains at the theoretical level and lacks empirical testing Finally, comprehensive risk management has been a hot topic in recent years, but most of the literature has focused on developed countries such as Europe and the US, and domestic research is still very limited. Therefore, this paper attempts to empirically test how the implementation of comprehensive risk management affects corporate financing constraints, in the hope that it can complement the existing literature.

One of the directions that can expand the instrumental base for modeling the economy is complex-valued economics – a section of economic and mathematical modeling devoted to the use of models and methods of the theory of the function of a complex variable in economics. The article discusses the possibility of short-term economic forecasting using autoregressive models of complex variables. A classification of possible modifications of complex-valued autoregressive models is given, and the main properties of each of the classes of these models are shown. One of the varieties of these complex-valued models uses current and past errors of approximation, which means that it can be compared with the widely used model of autoregressive real variables ARIMA(p, d, q). The article makes such a comparison, both on a theoretical level and on a practical example.

Abstract. Many countries in the world are becoming more aware of climatic changes, rising pollution, and running out of resources, predicting their impact on the future of humanity thus giving solutions for slowing down this process. Due to the mass urbanization of our planet, it became highly popular to talk about resilient and smart cities. And while some countries are still on a theoretical level, others, more advanced in their thinking and technical possibilities and with the higher consciousness of the importance of this issue are already putting things into action. European Union gives guidelines on how cities across Europe can improve in the future. There are several good examples of different actions across European countries that make their cities more resilient, more sustainable, and pleasant for living. Contrarily, in the cities of the developing European countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, the idea of resilient and Smart cities is still in its infancy. This paper aims to introduce different parameters that make cities more resilient and to show several of the best practices from Europe which use Smart city technologies while questioning the current situation in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Authors are introducing potentials of Sarajevo and smaller projects that can be starting points in the process of improvement of habitat climate in this city and its transformation to a smart and sustainable city.

Abstract This article investigates the possible functions of empathic interpersonal engagement in the context of medicine and health care. While empathy can be understood in different ways on a theoretical level – as an embodied process of resonance and synchronization, as an affective process of emotional sharing, as a cognitive process of understanding the other, or as a narrative process of externalizing and communicating personal experiences – it is often called for on a normative level as a desideratum in the competence of medical professionals. We address this issue by introducing different models of the relationality between doctors and patients, in order to clarify which dimensions of empathy are relevant in which model and raise the question whether empathy is more than a nice-to-have virtue on the side of the professionals.

Pilota, played using the hands, is a niche sport with origins dating back to Greco-Roman times. In the Valencian region of Spain, an indigenous version of the sport is played with healthy participation rates despite having to compete with the major global sports. This study is aimed at understanding the current situation of this sport in terms of knowledge, transmission channels, fan experience and media consumption, as well as the brand strategy challenges it faces for building a stable and sustainable fan community. The methodology consists of a combination of quantitative and qualitative techniques. Nearly 1500questionnaires completed across three study universes, four focus groups and 33 in-depth interviews with stakeholder representatives have served to check the data obtained and discuss the challenges facing the sport in a process of dialogue. The main finding lies in the management proposals that can be applied to most of the world’s surviving traditional sports. On a theoretical level, the study presents an analysis of niche sports in Europe from the point of view of branding and sustainability.

Abstract Information about culture and civilization has always been an integrated part of the courses for German as a foreign language. In the past few decades were developed several theoretical approaches regarding that aspect, for example the cognitive, the communicative or the inter-cultural approach. In course books and learning materials the culture and civilization component is most of the times related with the linguistic component, but recently, influenced by the development of the field of cultural studies, the cultural discourse has also become a priority. In the following article my aim is to depict to what extent this paradigm shift on a theoretical level is being reflected in learning materials. While the first part of the article is dedicated to the theoretical aspect, in the second part I intend to analyze examples of exercises and worksheets with regard to the educational objective.

The article proposes a reconstruction of the Kunstlehre concept, which occupies an important place in the structural and disciplinary section of Husserl's phenomenology. The key point of the presented reconstruction is its separation from the traditional interpretation of Kunstlehre criticized by Husserl and the advancement of a new project that coordinates three levels – theoretical, normative and practical. The theoretical level (pure logic), being complementary to the normative level (pure norms of reason), forms the basis of the disciplines represented by the program of science of knowledge (Wissenschaftslehre). The scientific study program falls on the period of the so- called logicism of Husserl, regarding which there is an opinion in the research literature that it was interrupted by the founder of phenomenology immediately after the writing of the first volume of “Logical Investigations”. However, on the basis of textual arguments, we show that this program was extended by Husserl up to his last works. The nature of this expansion is related to the practical level of Kunstlehre (transcendental phenomenology). The main task of this level was to provide science and scientists with noetic conditions, i.e. skills of transcendental criticism of consciousness. It is suggested that the presented reconstruction of Kunstlehre shows the permanent development of the program of logicism by Husserl, and also demonstrates the connection of this program with transcendental phenomenology.
