This paper aims to apply the bibliometrics method to investigate the research trends in the study of microcredit, specifically analyzing the quality of the research productions by the citation status and the mutual influence of these publications. This study has used the bibliometric method for an overview analysis of all 382 publications on the topic of microcredit indexed in the Scopus database for the period of 1994 to 2021. The results of the study provide an overview of the publication trend on the microcredit topic, such as (i) the most influential publications; (ii) the most cited authors; (iii) the most cited journals by publications on the microcredit topic; (iv) the main research keywords that network linked among publications on the microcredit topic; (v) the most productive institutions; (vi) the trend of research collaboration among countries in publications on the microcredit topic. The article provides an objective overview of the microcredit topic development and is a valuable reference for scholars studying finance, economics, and business management.

This study discusses the trend about green human resource management (GHRM) conducted by researchers in international scope. This study aims to understand: (a) the distribution and research links about GHRM in the last 5 years; (b) the level of productivity of GHRM researchers; and (c) the distribution map and international publication of GHRM research according to the keywords. The data collection is done by conducting a data search through Scopus using the keywords of ‘strategic human resource management with the category, article title, abstracts, and keywords during the last five years (2016-2021). The data choice is only based on the articles that have been published and focused on the field of business, management, and accounting. The data is then exported into CSV (comma-separated values) format. The trend of the development of international publications in the GHRM field is analyzed using VosViewer software. The research results show that the development of the instrumentation field in 2016-2021 indexed by Scopus has the highest occurrence in 2020, which reached 78 publications (29.66%). The international publication of the GHRM field is mostly published by the Journal of Cleaner Production, while the most productive author in GHRM is Charbel Jose, Chiapetta Jabbour.

There has been an increasing awareness about implementation of quality management systems (QMS) in higher educational institutions worldwide in the recent past. Improved awareness levels among aspiring students, competitive environment, students' preference to seek admission in quality-oriented institutions, compelling norms of regulatory authorities, and the urge of institutions to be among the top are the major reasons for this increased awareness. Existence and continuance of some of the institutes, especially the management institutes, has become a challenging task without focusing on QMS through a strategic approach. Implementation of QMS provides a direction for accreditations by top-rated agencies. This chapter develops a framework to enable the implementation of QMS by the management institutes by conducting a systematic analysis of accreditation standards of various agencies worldwide. The outcomes of this research would enable the management and other stakeholders of business management institutes to focus on key aspects towards implementing the QMS.

The startup is a software warehouse whose systems seek to solve specific problems of educational institutions, from basic to higher level, such as relationship, attraction, and retention of students. In the midst of a scenario of probable crisis in the sector, the partners seek business alternatives to assist educational institutions while wanting to ensure the growth and continuity of the company itself. Applicable in Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and IT courses in undergraduate and graduate Business Management programs, this case addresses concepts of Information Economy, models of offer and pricing of software.

Business management scholars have propositioned employee share ownership as a concept bearing different perspectives. Business management practitioners have implemented the model in varying degrees suiting their organizational needs depending on the context of the organization at the particular time. Empirical research on the impact, role, and the position of employee share ownership (ESO) has produced varying results leading to far reaching conclusions as to the importance and significance of the ESO on an organization and especially at a time when a firm is undergoing through crisis. The concept of employee share ownership has led to the development of employee share ownership plans which are implemented as direct stock/share allotment, bonuses, or profit-sharing models and plans. The employer or the principal capital holder bears an exclusive discretion in making the decision of who would receive any of these options.

It remains unclear how lack of management succession planning relates to the collapse of 87% of the Tanzanian family-owned manufacturing businesses (FOMBs) after the first generation.  Also, the question of whether a firm’s background variables, namely; executive’s education level, business age, and business size, moderate the relationship between management succession planning and the survival of FOMBs remains unanswered. Therefore, this study investigated the relationship between succession planning and the survival of FOMBs, moderated by the firm’s background variables through the lens of resource-based theory as well as agency theory. A sample of 339 executives was randomly drawn from the FOMBs in Dar es Salaam city where the collapse of FOMBs after the first generation was revealed to be significant and surveyed using a structured questionnaire. Multiple linear regression was used as a quantitative data analysis technique with the support of SPSS as an analytical tool. Results revealed that management succession variables, namely; training the successor, successor involvement in business management and successor factors-work fit had a positive and significant relationship with the survival of FOMBs. However, the internal recruitment of the successor had an insignificant relationship with the survival of FOMBs. Therefore, management succession planning sustains the leadership pipeline and survival of the FOMBs through the involvement of the successor in business management, sufficiently training the successor, and handing over power to the successor whose competency and factors fit with the relevant work. The study contributes to an understanding of management succession planning variables and how they relate to the survival of family-owned manufacturing businesses. The study also provides a new conceptual framework on transgenerational management succession planning in the FOMBs.

History matters. Recently, there has been an increase of interest in the use of historical research in the fields of international business, management and strategy; however, the use of this approach is still underexplored when compared to the use of more quantitative methodologies. Historical research seeks the identification, location, evaluation, and synthesis of data from the past to unveil previous events and, also, to relate them to both present and future, contributing to the understanding and explanation of theories. This chapter reviews the foundations of the historical research method in international business, management, and strategy and proposes a framework to guide historical research in these fields. Contrariwise to the traditional argument that history is theory resistant, at least from an independent-dependent and a context-invariant standpoint that so often characterizes economic approaches, historical research can contribute to a better understanding of the business phenomena.
