Abstract ANN was used to create a storage-based concurrent flow forecasting model. River flow parameters in an unsteady flow must be modeled using a model formulation based on learning storage change variable and instantaneous storage rate change. Multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) and multiple input-single output (MISO models in three variants were used to anticipate flow rates in the Tar River Basin in the United States. Gamma memory neural networks, as well as MLP and TDNNs models, are used in this study. When issuing a forecast, storage variables for river flow must be considered, which is why this study includes them. While considering mass balance flow, the proposed model can provide real-time flow forecasting. Results obtained are validated using various statistical criteria such as RMS error and coefficient of correlation. For the models, a coefficient of correlation value of more than 0.96 indicates good results. While considering the mass balance flow, the results show flow fluctuations corresponding to expressly and implicitly provided storage variations.

Do rapport and information have any bearing on doctors’ preference for high priced products? This was the study undertaken by me. Doctors in urban areas usually do not have the time to develop rapport with the medical representatives and as a result should not accept high priced products. On the other hand information too will not influence prescription of high priced products because they depend upon peer advice, seminars and conferences and evaluation tests. The situation among rural doctors is different wherein they should welcome medical representatives and their information and develop a rapport with them and thereby prescribe high priced products. However it was seen that developing a rapport was not enough for rural doctors to prescribe high priced products as they looked into the affordability of their patients first. However information was accepted and even high priced products were prescribed by doctors. On the other hand urban doctors were not influenced by either rapport or information and depended on conferences, seminars, peer advice and evaluation tests before prescribing high priced products. The study was conducted on 200 urban doctors and 200 rural doctors in Goa. A personal interview was conducted wherein the questionnaire was direct and structured. Pearson’s coefficient of correlation was used to determine if information and rapport had any correlation with doctors prescribing high priced products.

The article is dedicated to the study of paradigmatic relations of adjectives on the semantic level in the scientific style. Paradigmatic ties in the nucleus and the first periphery are determined and compared. The object of study is adjectives in the scientific style. The subject of the study is paradigmatic ties on the semantic level. The goal is to investigate and compare paradigmatic ties of adjectives in the scientific style. The topicality is caused by the necessity of study of paradigmatic ties of adjectives in the scientific style as they have not been investigated yet. In our study the statistical method was used such as the correlation analysis which helps to determine intensity and character of ties. The more there is the dependence between signs, the more the quantity of coefficient of correlation will approach to 1. In case of the absence of the statistical dependence the quantity of coefficient of correlation will be about zero or equals zero. Using the quantity of usage LSG of adjectives were divided into the nucleus and the first periphery. Due to the correlation analysis paradigmatic ties of LSG of adjectives within the nucleus and within the first periphery and between them were found and analyzed. In our study the statistical method was used such as χІ -which shows presence or absence of a tie. The coefficient K indicates the force (intensity) of ties. Due to it the ties are divided into strong, mean and weak ones. Statistically meaningful ties of lexical-semantic groups (LSG) of adjectives were analyzed. A scientific novelty is in distinguishing the nucleus and the first periphery and investigating paradigmatic ties between them. Conclusions. LSG of adjectives within the first periphery create not a big number of ties in comparison with the number of ties with LSG of adjectives of the nucleus. LSG of adjectives “Natural and physical state” and “Space value of distance and duration” are distinguished as making up the biggest number of ties with nucleus. The study shows that LSG of adjectives within of the first periphery are more independent between themselves and are able to have free ties. Paradigmatic ties of LSG of adjectives within the nucleus have the tendency to dependence and a mutual influence.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Surabaya was one of the highest in Indonesia at the beginning of the pandemic. This study aims to determine the mobility and activity patterns of the people of Surabaya during the COVID-19 pandemic and find a correlation between people mobility and the number of COVID-19 cases in Surabaya City using Pearson’s Coefficient of Correlation (PCC). The data used are mobility data at Gubeng Station, Purabaya Terminal, Waru Utama toll gate, and COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports. The mobility pattern of the people of Surabaya City in 2020 is divided into 5 phases, namely the normal condition phase (F0), the pandemic’s initial phase (F1), the PSBB phase (F2), the transition of AKB phase (F3), and the AKB phase (F4). This study indicates that the number of people in transit stations and residential areas has a high correlation with the number of COVID-19 cases. In addition, the type of mobility that has the most effect on increasing the number of COVID-19 cases is the mobility of bus transportation

Onion slices were dried in a low-humidity air-assisted hybrid solar dryer. Drying occurred in the falling rate period, and the drying rate was attenuated with the initial moisture content of the samples. The effects of different drying air temperatures (50, 60, 70°C) and KMS pre-treatments (0.1, 0.3, 0.5%) on drying characteristics of onion slices were also studied. Eight thin layer drying mathematical models viz. Newton, Page, Modified Page, Exponential, Asymptotic, Logistic, Wang and Singh, and two-term exponential were investigated and the results were compared to their goodness of fit in terms of coefficient of correlation (r), standard error (es), and the mean square of the deviation ?2. Drying characteristics of onion slices were better delineated by Page’s regression model for hybrid solar drying with values for the coefficient of correlation (0.9962–0.9999), standard error (0.0048–0.0431), and ?² (5.98E-05 to 2.16E-03). Effective moisture diffusivity values of onion slices ranged between 1.33E-08 m2.s-1 to 2.49E-08 m2.s-1 for the drying conditions under investigation.

Research question: This paper examines some aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and company reputation (CR) in the Serbian business environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Motivation: The survival, growth and development of companies in the current business environment are conditioned by their capability to reach socially responsible decisions and carry out activities that meet the expectations of different stakeholders. The main motive for this research has stemmed from the current global corona virus pandemic and the way this state of affairs has affected socially responsible behaviour of companies. The research of activities Serbian companies carried out in the time of crisis prompted us to explore the possible relationship between corporate social responsibility and its effects on corporate reputation, and consequently business results. Research idea: An empirical research has been conducted with the view to investigate the position of the public on the importance and impact of CSR on corporate reputation, and also to determine the key factors that guide the decisions of people living in the Republic of Serbia to shop, bearing in mind the socially responsible behaviour of companies. Data: The sample included 173 respondents, the number that allowed valid conclusions. The questionnaire was anonymous; all the respondents were residents of Serbia with access to the internet and willing to fill in the questionnaire, either by following the link advertised on social media or replying to the e-mail. Tools: The gathered data were processed and analysed using descriptive and explorative statistics. Research hypotheses were tested by: Frequency tables, Crosstable procedures, Paired Samples t-test, Spearman`s coefficient of correlation, Chi-square test, and Phi coefficient of correlation, resulting in conclusions and corresponding suggestions. Findings: Respondents perceive companies as social actors driven not only by profit, but by the interest of the community and their business environment. They believe companies can assume their responsibilities through different aspects of doing business, especially by contributing to the improvement of their consumer’s lifestyle. The majority of respondents tend to buy from companies they perceive as socially responsible from the point of view of further development of the society and their ethical behaviour towards the community.  Contribution: The findings can encourage the company’s management to direct their financial and organizational resources into the better management of the CSR, especially during the crisis, because solidarity and care for the most vulnerable part of the population lead to an improvement in the reputation and business results of a company.

Abstract The downstream low-lying regions of the Kelani River, including some areas in the Districts of Colombo and Gampaha, Sri Lanka, frequently face severe inundations due to extreme rainfalls in the upper basin. In the present study, 1-D and 2-D hydrodynamic models in HEC-RAS have been used to examine the flood inundations in the tidal influenced Kelani River with ground observations and remote sensing. The HEC-RAS model has been used to produce a flood hazard map for hazard assessment in the lower Kelani River basin under different return periods. Furthermore, expected discharges for different return periods have been estimated using the hydrological model HEC–HMS with the updated intensity depth frequency curves for the Kelani River basin. Sentinel 1 imagery and field survey results are used to validate the simulated flood inundation extent; hydrodynamic model results validated against observed stage measurements; hydrological model validated against discharge measurements. Further, the validated hydrodynamic model showed the high capability to capture flow processes (Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient = 0.90 and Pearson coefficient of correlation = 0.95) along with inundation extent (Success Index = 0.90) of selected historical extreme events. Then the hydrological model is used to predict the flows of the Kelani River basin with a good agreement (Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient = 0.91 and the Pearson coefficient of correlation = 0.93). Finally, flood risk zoning for different return periods are developed based on the present model which would be a useful benchmark to design and implement flood control and mitigation measures for the river basin.
