PurposeThough employee job engagement has been one of the few most proliferated organizational concepts during the last two decades, evidence on how to achieve an engaged workforce is unclear. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the engagement literature by investigating the role of interpersonal leadership in developing job engagement through the relative importance of deep acting emotional labor skills, initiative climate and learning goal orientation as intervening mechanisms.Design/methodology/approachThis study employed an online self-reported survey in data collection, gathering input from 438 frontline service employees in Malaysia. The data was then tested using the structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate the proposed parallel mediation model of the study.FindingsThe findings demonstrated that deep acting emotional labor skills, initiative climate and learning goal orientation were significantly effective in intervening mechanisms through which interpersonal leadership impacted job engagement.Practical implicationsThis study offers insightful evidence that can be utilized by service organizations to improve employees' job engagement. The evidence derived from this study suggests that interpersonal leadership is a valuable organizational resource that can help carve pathways through which the objective of employee job engagement can be achieved. Therefore, while crafting organizational interventions for employee job engagement, service managers should address the findings of this study.Originality/valueDespite the evidence presented in previous literature on the notable relationship between leadership and engagement, there is yet to be an apt understanding of the impact of new leadership perspectives and the intervening mechanisms in predicting job engagement. This study attempts to fill the research gap.

This research used a mixed-methods approach to focus on the properties and satisfaction assessment of effectiveness for palm fibers in the Khonsan Sub-District community group in Chaiyaphum province with a total of 113 people. In addition, the study used a 5-point rating scale which had a Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient value at the level of 0.97, in addition to two-way ANOVA. The study presented testing results by ordering from coconuts, palms, betel nuts, and tans with the fiber tensile ratings of 67.45 N, 57.19 N, 56.75 N, 52.49 N, and fiber tensile ratings of 6.80%, 7.30%, 7.12%, and 6.25%, respectively. In this case, the betel nut fibers and tan fibers showed durability to wet washing and the dry period as the most common way. Thus, the satisfaction assessment of tan fibers was at the most satisfactory level, (Mean=4.49, S.D. =0.57), followed by the coconut fibers at the excellent level, (Mean = 4.47, S.D. =0.56) and the betel nut fibers at the moderate level, (Mean=3.35, S.D. =0.71). Levene’s test showed that p was equal to 0.00, indicating that the factors of type and properties of palm fibers were at a varied level with statistical significance. Similarly, the fiber characteristics and properties of palm fibers for each type had an F value equal to 11.45 and Sig. equal to 0.00. In addition, it was found that there was at least one pair different from other pairs, such as coconut fibers and tan fibers. Consequently, the research with community participation showed that it appeared to confirm the balance between the effectiveness of materials, labor skills, human labor, and the stabilization of life. As a result, it affected the satisfaction at the excellent level for people in the development communities (Mean=4.10, S.D. =0.78).   Received: 12 January 2021 / Accepted: 24 March 2021 / Published: 10 May 2021

Kazakhstan, due to its inherent natural, climatic and geographical features, as well as specific conditions and traditional labor skills of the indigenous population, has long been considered one of the largest livestock countries. In Kazakhstan, almost half of the population lives in the countryside, but it is agriculture that has become the weakest sector, which requires a properly selected consistent approach to reform. In order to create conditions for the development of the innovative potential and innovative activity of the agricultural sector and the formation of a saturated market for products and services, it is necessary to determine the factors of the crisis state of agriculture and justify ways to overcome them, given the existing prerequisites and opportunities. There is always a lag of the actual results of agricultural production from the possibilities of obtaining them with the full and correct use of scientific and technical achievements. This is also true for the present. For example, the productive potential of plants and animals is realized at a level not exceeding 35-40% genetically determined. The possibilities of increasing soil fertility are used at the same level. Along with the development of scientific research, this requires increasing the innovative potential in all other areas, increasing the possibilities for a wider and more efficient use of the existing and expected in the future scientific and technological achievements.

Objective: identify the features of hard work of children of senior preschool age. Methods: a diagnostic procedure aimed at evaluating the structural components of hard work of children of senior preschool age (cognitive, emotional, motivational, behavioral), developed by R. S. Bure, I. V. Zhitko, G. A. Uruntayeva, Yu. a. Afonkina, allowed us to analyze the features of hard work and outline the prospects for its further education, in terms of pedagogical conditions. Results: the results of the study revealed that the majority of children of senior preschool age are at an average level, which is characterized by a manifestation of interest on the part of children in adult work, but there is insufficient volume and depth of ideas about adult work and its significance. Children are characterized by a lack of initiative and independence. The level of labor skills in household work is characterized by insufficient responsibility: children do not maintain order in the group, forget to clean up their toys; lack of independence, initiative, consistency: children do not know where to start cleaning, where to get the necessary equipment, how to properly perform duty. Scientific novelty: based on the use of a set of complementary research methods, the article substantiates the features of hard work of children of senior preschool age and defines the pedagogical conditions for its education through ethical conversations. Practical significance: the results of this research can be used in the educational process and practice of teachers of preschool and additional education, as well as individual work of teachers and parents with children of older preschool age to foster hard work through ethical conversations.

One of the main aspects, during the student training process and its insertion in the labor market, is its level of social development. Through this study, with a descriptive, exploratory and cross-sectional design; the self-perceived socio-labor skills by the professional training students of a Ceuta institute are analyzed. The sample consisted of 100 individuals (86 women and 14 men). The instrument used was the Test of sociopersonal factors for the labor insertion of the young people of Martínez-Rodríguez & Carmona (2010). Regarding the level of studies, students who come from higher cycles of vocational training have a higher level of socio-labor skills than students who access other degrees. Regarding the work situation of students, students who work have higher levels of socio-labor skills than unemployed students.

Cities are among the best examples of complex systems. The adaptive components of a city, such as its people, firms, institutions, and physical structures, form intricate and often non-intuitive interdependencies with one another. These interdependencies can be quantified and represented as links of a network that give visibility to otherwise cryptic structural elements of urban systems. Here, we use aspects of information theory to elucidate the interdependence network among labor skills, illuminating parts of the hidden economic structure of cities. Using pairwise interdependencies we compute an aggregate, skills-based measure of system “tightness” of a city’s labor force, capturing the degree of integration or internal connectedness of a city’s economy. We find that urban economies with higher tightness tend to be more productive in terms of higher GDP per capita. However, related work has shown that cities with higher system tightness are also more negatively affected by shocks. Thus, our skills-based metric may offer additional insights into a city’s resilience. Finally, we demonstrate how viewing the web of interdependent skills as a weighted network can lead to additional insights about cities and their economies.

Agriculture is a key sector of our economy. The development of any sector, including agriculture, depends on such key issues as the availability of labor, skills of workers, complexity of work performed and labor, wages in industry, social guarantees for the population, etc. In agriculture, it is still impossible to do without manual labor. Labor must be paid. Remuneration should become a social guarantee for the working person, giving the right to a decent existence in society. To determine the current economic situation in society in 2020, the impact of negative economic processes on the development of the Republic of Mordovia, agriculture in the Republic and the level of wages in agriculture, the analysis of the main statistical indicators of the industry and the impact of these indicators on wages and social security of the population was carried out.
