A study on the static analysis of a naval panel made of composite sandwich materials is presented. By using FEM, the modeling of a naval floor with a length of 5 m and a width of 2.5 m is performed. Two distinct cases, have been performed: the first model consists of the plate and stiffeners made of steel and the second model concerns a panel made of composite material sandwich type steel / SANFoam103 / steel, and the stiffeners made of steel. A parametric study has been performed. The thickness of the steel faces have 6 mm, and for the core of SANFoam have been selected the thicknesses 5 mm, 10 mm, 20 mm, 40 mm.

Elliptical concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) column is a new form of CFST columns, consisting of an outer elliptical tube filled with concrete. Although the study on mechanical performance of the elliptical CFST members is receiving more and more attention, they have been limited to static behavior. Against this background, an experimental study on elliptical CFST columns was carried out under combined axial compression and cyclic lateral loading. The failure modes, hysteretic curves, skeleton curves, load carrying capacity, deformability, stiffness degradation, and energy dissipation ability was obtained and discussed. The test results indicated that the elliptical CFST columns possess excellent seismic performance and ductility. Valuable experimental data were provided for the formulation of the theoretical hysteresis model of the elliptical CFST columns.

The aim of this study is to prove that it is possible to control the static behavior of tensegrity plate-like structures. This possibility is very important, particularly in the case of deployable structures. Here, we analyze the impact the support conditions of the structure have on the existence of specific characteristics, such as self-stress states and infinitesimal mechanisms, and, consequently, on the active control. Plates built with Simplex modules are considered. Firstly, the presence of the specific characteristics is examined, and a classification is carried out. Next, the influence of the level of self-stress state on the behavior of structures is analyzed. A geometrically non-linear model, implemented in an original program, written in the Mathematica environment, is used. The results confirm the feasibility of the active control of stiffness of tensegrity plate-like structures characterized by the presence of infinitesimal mechanisms. In the case when mechanisms do not exist, structures are insensitive to the initial prestress level. It is possible to control the occurrence of mechanisms by changing the support conditions of the structure. Based on the obtained results, tensegrity is very promising structural concept, applicable in many areas, when conventional solutions are insufficient.

In this study, a model software of a computer program related to determining dimensional behavior, which will contribute to the multi-layered units used on the facade of industrial buildings to be standardized, has been prepared. By means of this model software, the factors determining the width (A), the height (h) and the section (d) of the units of a building facade, could be evaluated. These factors, at the same time, from the dimensions of building facade units providing “thermal insulation, sound insulation statically behavior and coordination dimension of facade unit.” In the program (named as MT2 Prefabrike), these four factors could be evaluated by providing the optimization in sequence and within themselves. Thus, by developing a new method of approach in the standardizing of facade units, apart from the visible characteristics of the units, the idea of standardizing the performance and behavior expected from the units, are put forward. In the model program formed with this idea, before producing of the facade units, the optimization is to be provided by analyzing the factors which are effective in giving dimension to the units, in abstract condition (computerized). Keywords: a model software, building facade unit, prefabrication, thermal and sound ınsulation, static behavior analysis, the facades of ındustrial buildings

The use of automation and robotics technologies for caregiving and assistance has become a very interesting research topic in the field of robotics. The spread of COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of social distancing in hospitals and health centers, and collaborative robotics can bring substantial improvements in terms of sparing health workers basic operations. Thus, researchers from Politecnico di Torino are working on Paquitop.arm, a mobile robot for assistive tasks. The purpose of this paper is to present a system composed of an omnidirectional mobile platform, a 6 DOF robot arm, and a depth camera. Task-oriented considerations are made to estimate a set of mounting parameters that represents a trade-off between the exploitation of the robot arm workspace and the compactness of the entire system. To this end, dexterity and force transmission indexes are introduced to study both the kinematic and the static behavior of the manipulator as a function of the mounting parameters. Finally, to avoid singularities during the execution of the task, the platform approach to the task workspaces is studied.

The Unified Modelling Language (UML) is a design tool used to design the software applications or software systems. It comprises thirteen different diagrams which represent the static behavior and dynamic behavior of the software systems. This paper presents an automated methodology to abstract the UML object diagram features from the input restructured java program. The methodology proposed here takes the restructured java program as an input and then abstracts the class name, attributes, operations, visibility, relationships and stores in the form a table. Further by using the restructured java program and the class table, the relevant details of the object diagram is abstracted and is stored in the form a table for further processing FULL TEXT PDF
