AbstractWe propose a scale-invariant derivative of the h-index as “h-dimension”, which is analogous to the fractal dimension of the h-index for institutional performance analysis. The design of h-dimension comes from the self-similar characteristics of the citation structure. We applied this h-dimension to data of 134 Japanese national universities and research institutes, and found well-performing medium-sized research institutes, where we identified multiple organizations related to natural disasters. This result is reasonable considering that Japan is frequently hit by earthquakes, typhoons, volcanoes and other natural disasters. However, these characteristic institutes are screened by larger universities if we depend on the existing h-index. The scale-invariant property of the proposed method helps to understand the nature of academic activities, which must promote fair and objective evaluation of research activities to maximize intellectual, and eventually economic opportunity.

Service-learning (SL) is a relatively new approach for the Ukrainian education system. The Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) became the first in Ukraine to introduce it at the institutional level. The organization of this process requires a transparent methodology and algorithm for implementation. In this study, we consider the institutional performance of SL at UCU from the standpoint of innovation management in the educational process. The paper’s objective is to describe the SL model implementation at the UCU based on the analysis of the carried-out optimizing processes. The classic problem-based approach with interactive research and design-based research were applied to develop the model. Furthermore, the description of the results uses a process-oriented methodology as the most appropriate for the current and future research work. The success of the SL approach implementation is partly due to the technical part by which it is about the design of the work process and the internal culture of the HEI. The groups of stakeholders involved in designing and adopting the SL model and pedagogy are foundational in the applied case of the process-oriented methodology. The final goal was to identify the areas with the most significant opportunities for improvement when implementing SL in the HEI. The model of implementation of SL in the HEI, presented in this study, was created on the business process mapping principles and can be valuable for other educational institutions that want to implement this approach.

Purpose: The perceived performance of the public sector universities mainly depends upon on academia particularly the faculty members’ potential contribution, quality of teaching and knowledge generation. HRM practices are designed in such a way to accelerate performance of employees, for attaining organizational aims and objectives with organizational justice. Whereas the workforce of any organization is deemed as dynamic asset to contribute for institutional performance. Therefore, career success of the faculty members has been taken as mediating variable in the study. Design/Methodology/Approach: For crafting the research study, faculty members were chosen from Pakistan’s public-sector universities. Whereas, to establish the conceptual framework, the researchers have applied the Dynamic Capabilities Theory (DCT) as the underpinning theory for this construct. For sampling purposes, proportionate stratified sampling has been designed; random sampling was utilized to select the respondents within each stratum. The questionnaire was distributed among individuals personally. Afterword, data were cleaned for missing values, outliers, aberrant values and tested for normality, reliability, and validity. Findings: Hypotheses were tested by applying partial least squares - structural equation modelling (SEM) technique through statistical software SMART PLS licenced version 3. The construct in the context of Pakistan in amongst the preliminary studies. Implications/Originality/Value: The findings will be helpful for higher education commission of Pakistan for designing strategies.

The study highlights the part of institutional accounting practices in the relationship between specified KM capabilities and institutional performance. A theoretical model was tested based on the insight from literature and knowledge-based theory (KBT). The data collected from a survey of 322 staff in knowledge-based organizations (KBOs) were analyzed to test the extended model using partial least squares structural equation modeling approach. The result depicts that greater levels of specific KM infrastructure and process capability would positively influence institutional accounting management practices and, consequently organizational performance. Unlike KM process capability, KM infrastructure capability has a positive and significant impact on organizational performance. The study provides a new understanding to management and practice on the vital role played by institutional management accounting practice in KM success in Malaysia. The research offers fresh insight into further studies in diverse settings. The research is insightful as it deviates from the over-researched context in KM literature to extricate the role of accounting in the business KM strategy.

AbstractThis chapter presents general conclusions based on integrating the theory and the results obtained from all methods. It also offers seven specific conclusions for each of the prosperity determinants considered.Combining three main factors accounted for uneven socio-economic and institutional performance in Europe and the Americas. These factors are: 1. Religion: 1.1) Historical Protestantism and its positive influence on law, institutions, and language (highest performance); 1.2) anti-clericalism (medium-high performance); 1.3) Roman Catholicism or Orthodoxy (medium-low performance); 1.4) Syncretism (low performance). 2. Political non-religious influences: 2.1) Communism (low performance). 3. Geography and environment, which modulate overall performance.

LPKA Class I Palembang is an institution that enforces the Integrity Zone, WBK, and WBBM. Therefore, one of the technological innovations that will support the implementation is to instill a data-based performance culture through the LPKA Class I Palembang Dashboard. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the development of the dashboard model of government institutions in this case monitoring and reporting on the performance of the fields at LPKA. This evaluation will be included in the development of the dashboard in order to provide optimal net benefits for the management of LPKA Class I Palembang. The research was conducted in 4 stages, namely: determining the research design, identifying dashboard needs, identifying indicators in the development of the Palembang Class I LPKA dashboard model, and formulating a dashboard development model. The dashboard development model was formed based on the results of literature studies and surveys conducted on prospective dashboard users at LPKA Class I Palembang. The survey was conducted on prospective dashboard users, namely structural officials, General Functional Positions, and Certain Functional Positions with a total of 102 employees. The sampling technique is purposive sampling as many as 60 people were directly involved in reporting field performance. The evaluation of the aspects of the LPKA Dashboard shows that from the aspect of presenting Data/Information there are weaknesses in the visual display that is not yet rich in graphics, the unavailability of facilities for predicting future performance conditions, and facilities for causal analysis. The results of this study state that for the aspect of collaboration between users, the benefits that have not been felt are more, namely the exchange of information between users and no conference facilities are available. Meanwhile, in the dashboard performance aspect, there is no link to the administrator.

Abstract Conservation Village Model (MDK) is one form of institution since it contains various mechanisms and rules to ensure the operationalization of activities in the field. In this regard, the evaluation process plays a substantial role in ensuring the sustainability of MDK institutions. Thus, studies related to institutional performance are crucial to describe the conditions of MDK implementation in TNGR based on the principles of institutional sustainability. This research was done between April and July 2016, focusing on two villages (i.e. Santong Village and Pesangrahan Village) that have been designated by the Mount Rinjani National Park Office as recipients of the conservation village model program. The analytical tool used to evaluate institutional performance refers to the eight principles of sustainable institutional. The results showed that the implementation of MDK in Mount Rinjani National Park had a low institutional performance. Several facts revealed in this study indicate that so far, the implementation of MDK in TNGR has not accommodated several sustainable institutional principles. These include the absence of mechanisms that regulate the clarity of community access to the use of national parks, differences in program interventions with community preferences, and the absence of mechanisms on benefit cost-sharing and dispute resolution at the operational level.
