In the analysis of the relationship between social and spatial dynamics, the peripheries assume, from the perspective of social geography, the role of an ideal laboratory for observing and interpreting the conditions of discomfort and marginalization. The contribution focuses on Scampia, the northern district of the city of Naples, which represents, together with other Italian suburbs, a context where the gaze that is exercised is too often conditioned by a stigma of decay, also fueled by some media simplifications. Through the reconstruction of the genesis and history of this district, with the contribution of the various land surveys carried out, we try to return a more articulated vision.

The article considers the song folklore of the village of Yamanovo and the village of Toburdanovo of the Kanash district of the Chuvash Republic in a comparative aspect and the existence of this microlocal tradition among the descendants of the Chuvash immigrants from these settlements to the Novosibirsk region. The study employed the modern, archival, published materials (1933-2020), and the traditions recorded on the mainland territory and in its Siberian diaspora. The systems of folklore genres of the Volga and Siberian traditions largely coincide. Some genres related to ritual folklore were lost in Siberia. In the folklore of the Siberian Chuvash people, borrowings from Russian traditional music are more noticeable. This feature is manifested at the level of individual components (song plots, melodies), as well as in terms of entire genres (lyrical songs of the late tradition, Russian ditties, folklorized church chants). Due to the deep structuring of the elements of the musical language inherent in the Chuvash song culture, the rhythmic-syntactic and modal basis of the vast majority of song samples has been preserved in the Siberian-Chuvash tradition almost unchanged. The differences between the Volga and Siberian versions affect mainly the level of melodica. The strengthening of the role of the Anatri dialect in the Siberian-Chuvash diaspora is also noticeable.

Background: Symbiotic nitrogen fixation plays a major role in the production of million tons of total biological nitrogen. The Rhizobium not only fixes the nitrogen but also produces plant growth promoting hormones. In this view, the present study was undertaken to characterize the native Rhizobium isolates for their functional properties and evaluate on pigeon pea for their plant growth promotional activities. Methods: The present investigation was carried out during the year 2018-19 at UAS, Dharwad. Five of the native isolates obtained from Northern district of Karnataka were subjected for functional characterization using standard methods. The isolates were also tested for their plant growth promotional activities.Result: The IAA production in the isolates was ranged from 20.50 to 22.85 mg IAA/ml of broth and GA production from 13.40 to 14.51 mg/25ml of broth. ACC deamination activity in the isolates was ranged from 57.50 to 75.5 nmoles of α-ketobutyrate/mg/h of broth. All the isolates exhibited their ability to solubilize P and Zn. Out of ten isolates, four isolates exhibited potential to inhibit mycelial growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. udum and per cent inhibition was ranged from 48.75 to 73.75. All the isolates were found to be positive for siderophore and HCN production. The isolate AMVPR98 performed better with respect to all the growth parameters of pigeon pea. Molecular characterization of isolate AMVPR98 revealed 99% similarity with Rhizobium pusense strain AB3.

Background: Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) started as pneumonia of unknown cause detected first in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and spread as a pandemic affecting more than 200 countries worldwide. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, dry cough, breathing difficulty and tiredness. The median incubation period is about 5 days as per current understanding. The present study was done to estimate the median incubation period of COVID-19 cases admitted in a tertiary care center in north Kerala. Methods: This cross-sectional study included COVID-19 cases admitted in a tertiary care center during three months study period. Results: The median incubation period of COVID-19 was estimated to be 4 days (interquartile range 7). It was also found that females, those persons with comorbidities and those who got infected by local transmission had a longer mean incubation period compared to males, those without comorbidities and imported cases, respectively. Conclusions: The median incubation period of COVID 19 was estimated to be 4 days. Factors like presence of comorbidities, gender, type of transmission were found to affect incubation period, but further studies are needed to have a thorough understanding.

The study aimed to identify the application of inclusion, to apply the comprehensive integration of students with special needs between reality and expectations from the viewpoint of teachers in primary schools in the Northern District within the Green Line. To achieve the aim of the study, the descriptive and analytical approach was used, through the development of the study tool, and verification of its validity and reliability. The study sample included (450) teachers chosen randomly. The results of the study showed that the degree of application of comprehensive integration of students with special needs between reality and expectations The teachers ’view of primary schools in the northern district within the green line came with a degree of (medium), and the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the areas of comprehensive integration of students with special needs between the reality and the expectations from the teachers’ point of view in the primary schools in the northern district within the line. Green is attributed to the gender variable, academic qualification, and years of experience variable, while the results showed differences according to the job title variable, and the existence of differences according to the limitations of the merged student.

The vector control program has become challenging due to the resistance problem occurs in Aedes mosquitoes. Aedes albopictus (Skuse, 1894) is the most dominant species contributing as a vector of dengue, Chikungunya and Zika viruses in Malaysia. Knowledge of the current insecticide resistance of Ae. albopictus is essential for the success of vector control program. Here, we reported the susceptibility status of Ae. albopictus collected from the dengue hotspot areas in the Northern District of Penang Island, Malaysia on three common use insecticides in vector control program. Aedes albopictus was sampled from three localities at Flat Hamna, Kampung Sungai Gelugor and Kampung Tanjung Tokong in the Northern District of Penang Island, Malaysia. The adult bioassay results suggested the Flat Hamna strain (FH) was found to develop incipient resistance after 24h exposure towards all three insecticides tested; permethrin, deltamethrin and malathion (mortality 97-87%). With 1.93 fold of Resistance Ratio 50 (RR50) values, FH strains have the highest chances to develop resistance towards permethrin. Among all insecticides tested, malathion was contributed to significantly higher KdT50 in all Ae. albopictus strains as compared to VCRU reference strain (p<0.001). Thus suggesting malathion insecticide is the least effective insecticide in our vector control program. Our finding can be used as a baseline for insecticide resistance of Ae. albopictus to improve vector control across Malaysia. Permethrin and deltamethrin are still reliable to be used in the control program, nonetheless require continuous monitoring on their susceptibility towards Ae. albopictus.

AbstractIn November 1876, two Oneida Indians, Abram Elm and Lewis Doxtator, were arrested for voting illegally in the twenty-third congressional district election in New York. Their trial was held the next year in a federal court in the Northern District of New York, the same venue where Susan B. Anthony had been tried and convicted on a similar charge four years earlier. This essay focuses on the significance of the historically neglected United States v. Elm case, its origins, why the decision was rendered, and its short-term and long-term impact. Importantly, United States v. Elm has cast a long shadow over Supreme Court decisions—from the time of Elk v. Wilkins in 1884 right up to City of Sherrill v. Oneida Indian Nation in New York in 2005. In going to the polls, the two Native Americans were not trying to deny their Oneida identity; they saw themselves as dual citizens advocating a different course of resistance.

Women constitute almost half of the population of Bangladesh and are heavily involved in different agricultural activities though their contributions are neglected as mainstream labor force which hinders their expected development. Considering this fact, the present study was designed to determine the women empowerment through agriculture in Chapainawabganj, a northern district of the country. A pre-structured questionnaire was used to collect data through face to face interview from randomly selected sample size of 120 respondents from four selected village namely Babudying, Hossaindying, Ramjibonpur and Thakurjoubon in Chapainawabganj district. The main findings indicated that about 83.3% respondents were middle age and 60% of the respondents were illiterate with 56.7% belonged to small size family which consists of up to 4 members. Agriculture was the main occupation among the respondents. Most of the respondents were found without own land although they continue their livelihood mostly by crop production, livestock rearing, and day laboring. They take lease (23.3%) of cultivable land from others. The respondents had an average monthly family income of about 9351.38 BDT whereas 95% of the respondents were under medium income category. The respondents had no extension contact (0%), having high farming experience (50%) and no cosmopolitan behavior (0%). Most of the respondents (71.7%) were unable to make their own decision and 33.3% of the respondents had educational rights. The economic participation rate of the respondents was very high (100%), on the other hand they had no economic opportunities (0%). The attitude of the respondents towards women empowerment were mostly moderately favorable (70%). Most of the respondents of the study area were lied between low to medium empowerment (96.7%) with minimal high empowerment (3.30%). Study suggests that there is need a lot of work for women to improve their present condition. Government and Non-government organizations should take proper step to decrease gender discrimination as well as ensure women’s fundamental rights to make their life easy and make them more empowered.
