Many studies have been conducted to understand the evolution process of Open Source Software (OSS). The researchers have used various techniques for understanding the OSS evolution process from different perspectives. This chapter reports a meta-data analysis of the systematic literature review on the topic in order to understand its current state and to identify opportunities for the future. This research identified 190 studies, selected against a set of questions, for discussion. It categorizes the research studies into nine categories. Based on the results obtained from the systematic review, there is evidence of a shift in the metrics and methods for OSS evolution analysis over the period of time. The results suggest that there is a lack of a uniform approach to analyzing and interpreting the results. There is need of more empirical work using a standard set of techniques and attributes to verify the phenomenon governing the OSS projects. This will help to advance the field and establish a theory of software evolution.

One of the current problems in the context of education is the question of how to achieve students' maximum knowledge acquisition capacity, while simultaneously taking into account the diversity of each student.  The aim of the article is to analyse how to more effectively achieve the standard set in the Latvian legislation, taking into account the individuality of each resident as defined in the Education Law. In this article the author analyses the results of a survey conducted in the spring 2021 as well as an interview. The participants for the survey were 50 and the participants for the interview were 9. Data was analysed using SPSS. The findings of the study and recommendation shall provide answers to all educators who seek the way how to teach more effectively in heterogonous classes.   Keywords:  differentiation; foreign language classes; heterogonous classes; Latvia.

The current practice of adjusting hearing aids (HA) is tiring and time-consuming for both patients and audiologists. Of hearing-impaired people, 40–50% are not satisfied with their HAs. In addition, good designs of HAs are often avoided since the process of fitting them is exhausting. To improve the fitting process, a machine learning (ML) unsupervised approach is proposed to cluster the pure-tone audiograms (PTA). This work applies the spectral clustering (SP) approach to group audiograms according to their similarity in shape. Different SP approaches are tested for best results and these approaches were evaluated by Silhouette, Calinski-Harabasz, and Davies-Bouldin criteria values. Kutools for Excel add-in is used to generate audiograms’ population, annotated using the results from SP, and different criteria values are used to evaluate population clusters. Finally, these clusters are mapped to a standard set of audiograms used in HA characterization. The results indicated that grouping the data in 8 groups or 10 results in ones with high evaluation criteria. The evaluation for population audiograms clusters shows good performance, as it resulted in a Silhouette coefficient >0.5. This work introduces a new concept to classify audiograms using an ML algorithm according to the audiograms’ similarity in shape.

Abstract Although the literature on US Supreme Court agenda-setting is sizable, justice-vote-level multivariate analyses of certiorari are almost exclusively limited to samples of discussed cases from 1986 to 1993. Moreover, these studies have done very little to explore justice-level heterogeneity on certiorari. Here, we address these lacunae by analyzing the predictors of individual justices’ cert votes on all paid cases from the 1939, 1968, and 1982 terms. We find substantial justice-level heterogeneity in the weight that justices place on the standard set of forces shaping the cert vote. We also show that some of this heterogeneity is associated with justices’ experience and ideological extremism, largely in theoretically predicted ways. In closing, we sound a note of caution on drawing conclusions about effects of justice attributes, when the number of justices is relatively small.

Abstract Background: The objective of this paper was to evaluate the COVID-19 vaccine registration website across UN-recognized member states for their portal quality, reliability, Ease Use and help to the general population in informed decision making.Methods: 12 UN member states (Countries) were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria mentioned in the methodology section of this paper. PPS technique was used for sampling and selection of 12 countries from 193 UN member states. Post selection of UN member states the study used 2 step evaluation techniques, Step 1 The DISCERN checklist consists of 16 questions in three sections and is aimed to assess the reliability of information and quality of information; Step 2 The QUEST tool consists of 6 items with a subitem, Authorship, Attribution, Conflict of Interest, Complementarity, Currency, Tone. The authors developed a standard set of instructions for evaluating Vaccination Portals to bring uniformity in understanding and context setting.Results: DISCERN tool overall reliability score on the Likert scale of 0 to 5 was 4 (SD ± 1.28). On Quality of information regarding treatment choices, the average score was 3.4 (SD ± 1.67). The QUEST tool on ease of use, concision, and comprehensiveness demonstrated an average score of 18.1 (SD ± 8.3) out of 28.The vaccine registration portal of the Czech Republic was found to be most informative and was able to provide a piece of scientifically valid information on safety, efficacy, long-term short effects, choice of vaccine with attributable authors details. India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, South Africa scored relatively low to missing critical information on the website. The United Arab Emirates, Republic of South Korea, Indonesia, Australia, and Argentina had minor elements missing.Conclusions: COVID-19 vaccination portals vary in the quality of information, and many were found unable to provide critical information for decision making on getting vaccinated.

Quality in a Hospital Service is closely related to Inpatient Patient Satisfaction in Hospitals in Indonesia. Patient satisfaction is one of the important indicators to control the quality of health services in hospitals. The results of the study indicate that the level of patient satisfaction in several hospitals in Indonesia is still below the standard set by the government (>90%). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the dimensions of the quality of health services with the satisfaction of inpatients at the hospital. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square test) and multivariate (Logistic Regression test) analysis. The results showed that the level of patient satisfaction was 96.6%, this means that the satisfaction level of inpatients in hospitals in Indonesia is good because it meets the customer satisfaction standards set by the Indonesian Ministry of Health (>90%). Multivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between, service, environment and hospital facilities. The results of this study can be concluded that the quality of health services received by atients is very influential on patient satisfaction itself

Abstract Depression in older adults is associated with loss of functioning and increased mortality. While many factors contribute to depression among this population, activities of daily living (ADL) limitations and cognitive impairment have been identified as key risk factors. However, no study, to our knowledge, has examined the extent to which physical and cognitive limitations independently and jointly contribute to the risk of depression. The current study describes the prevalence and compares the independent and joint associations of these limitations with depression in a nationally representative sample of adults aged 51 and older in the US. Analyses are based on a sample of 17,044 repeated observations on 6,636 unique primary respondents from three waves of pooled data from the Health and Retirement Study. We estimate linear and logistic multivariate regression models investigating the association between ADL limitations (any limitation on Katz ADL scale), cognitive impairment (<12 on the TICS-27 scale), and depressive symptoms (8-item CES-D), controlling for a standard set of socioeconomic and health factors. First, we find that 66% of respondents report no limitations, 16% report only cognitive impairment, 11% report only ADL limitations, and 7% report both types of limitations. Multivariate analyses suggest that ADL limitations have a much stronger association with depression compared to cognitive impairment, and this association is robust across alternative specifications. In next steps, we will take advantage of the longitudinal nature of these data to estimate changes in these characteristics over time and within individuals and explore heterogeneity in associations across relevant groups.

IntroductionLiterature searching for evidence on apps in bibliographic databases is challenging because they are often described with inconsistent terminology. Information Specialists from the United Kingdom's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) have developed validated search filters for retrieving evidence about apps from MEDLINE and Embase (Ovid) reliably.MethodsMedical informatics journals were hand-searched to create a ‘gold standard’ set of app references. The gold standard set was divided into two sets. The development set provided the search terms for the filters. The filters were validated by calculating their recall against the validation set. Target recall was >90%.A case study was then conducted to compare the number-needed-to-read (NNR) of the filters with previous non-validated MEDLINE and Embase app search strategies used for the ‘MIB214 myCOPD app’ NICE topic. NNR is the number of references screened to find each relevant reference.ResultsThe MEDLINE and Embase filters achieved 98.6 percent and 98.5 percent recall against the validation set, respectively. In the case study they achieved 100 percent recall, reducing NNR from 348 to 147 in MEDLINE and from 456 to 271 in Embase.ConclusionsThe novel NICE health apps search filters retrieve evidence on apps from MEDLINE and Embase effectively and more efficiently than previous non-validated search strategies used at NICE.

The work is devoted to the problem of comparing objects by color. The following statement of the problem is considered: among the set of objects it is necessary to find such an object, the color of which is most similar to the color of the given object. It is assumed that for each object only its spectrum (transmission, reflection, radiation) is known, which is an exhaustive characteristic of the color of the object. In addition, the spectrum of the radiation source is assumed to be known. The use of standard methods for determining color differences has shown that the problem does not have an unambiguous solution. Two approaches to its solution have been proposed: the first is based on the transition from the spectrum to color spaces with the subsequent calculation of the Euclidean distance, and the second is based on a direct comparison of the spectra as functional dependences of the intensity on the wavelength. Within each of the approaches, two criteria for the "similarity" of objects in color are proposed, and an original approach to assessing the effectiveness of these criteria is proposed. This approach is based on the use of expert assessments of the color proximity of glass samples with known transmission spectra from a standard set. For each sample from the set, experts selected the glass closest in color from the remaining ones, after which a generalized opinion of experts was formed. To obtain an assessment of the quality of each of the criteria, for each of them and for each test glass, the remaining samples were ranked in order of increasing color distance to the given test glass. After that, the results of the criteria were compared with the generalized opinion of experts. To make the comparison result "fuzzy", for each test glass it was proposed to consider a set of five glasses closest in color (for each of the criteria). The resulting estimates of the effectiveness of each of the criteria for a set of 89 glasses are obtained and an approach to the construction of more effective complex criteria is proposed.
