Evidence based scientific studies has weightage, when they are presented with quantitative data analysis. Documentation and parametric analysis has become an integral part of present day research. Any publications or write-ups without explanation through standard parameters are not appreciated by the research society. In Ophthalmology assessment of various parameters through photography is a debatable issue. Affordability for higher end diagnostic / OPD instruments may not be feasible for all. In such a scenario, here is an attempt made to standardize the slit lamp photography with a smart phone and its scientific analysis for evaluating clinical conditions like sub-conjunctival hemorrhage, etc. This technique can become a tool for assessment and response of the therapies as well as an important tool to seek help from higher centers. Various add-on benefits in research, limitation and scope for further evaluation also being discussed.

Covid-19 pandemic has led to children missing schools due to which eye care screening activities at schools have taken a backseat. To mitigate this home based visual acuity estimation smartphone applications are increasingly being used for the purpose of tele-ophthalmology purposes, although with no validation of the same. We aim to fulfil this lacunae. Current study was a cross sectional analysis on 286 eyes of 148 children aged between 6years to 14years attending our OPD from April 2021 to June 2021, with non-acute ocular symptomatology. Snellen’s distant visual acuity was compared against the visual acuity recorded by smart phone based Isight pro app and Peek acuity smart phone app. Statistical analysis was performed by Bland Altmann analysis by using SPSS version 21 and p<0.05 was taken as the level of significance. The mean differences between the smartphone-based test Isight pro and the Snellen’s chart and the smartphone-based test Peek acuity and Snellen’s acuity data were 0.06 (95%CI, 0.04–0.08) and 0.07 (95%CI,0.05–0.09) logMAR, respectively. Time taken to test visual acuity by Snellen’s chart was approximately 118.2±21.38 seconds, whereas with Isight pro and Peek acuity smart phone apps the time for testing was approximately 92±15.88 seconds and 94.03±19.73 seconds respectively. P<0.05.The mean visual acuity was comparable with Snellen’s chart and ETDRS based smart phone apps like Isight pro and Peek acuity. The mean time to assess visual acuity was slightly more in Snellen’s acuity than with smart phone based apps. Inability to access eye care services through screening activities in schools has been mitigated effectively by using these smart phone apps. Hence these smart phone apps can be effectively used in tele-ophthalmologic practice and screening activities in these COVID-19 pandemic times.

Personal Digital Health Assistants (PDHA) are applications that can run on virtually any computer or mobile device including a smart phone/ personal digital assistant (PDA). A PDHA acquires, stores, and analyzes health related information of an individual. It usually communicates with remote servers of a large organization which can connect it to various resources. PDHAs are an integral part of telehealth. Their utility has increased manyfold since the start of the pandemic. The systems are increasingly more complex and are involved in all aspects of care. The PDHA are usually utilized by patients or their caregivers with assistance from professionals. Many automated systems can be utilized free of charge. Some are available as part of a prepaid health plan.

Change of direction (COD) is an important component of athlete performance and measuring and comparing athletes is an integral aspect of strength and conditioning practice. This article aimed to determine pro-agility shuttle utility, by quantifying variability and normative values for different sports, skill-levels and positions. Limitations of the pro-agility shuttle are identified, as are future research directions. A total of 67 studies were included for review. Pro-agility shuttle reliability was reported in 10 studies across 6 sports; however, comprehensive reliability statistics were absent in most papers. Additionally, only reliability of total-time from stopwatch and timing lights were reported. Data of 32,891 subjects in 12 sports (American football, basketball, cricket, general athletes, hockey, lacrosse, recreational athletes, resistance-trained athletes, rugby, soccer, swimming, and tennis) were extracted and aggregated, establishing sport, skill-level (elite, sub-elite, and novice) and positional normative values, where practical. Elite athletes showed the fastest performance times, whereas sub-elite and novice athletes showed similar spreads in performance, suggesting similar athletic capabilities. In conclusion, the pro-agility shuttle currently has limited diagnostic value and the variability of smaller performance sub-components within pro-agility shuttle should be examined. Furthermore, the value of other technologies such as smart phone, inertial sensor or radar should be investigated.

Computer vision-based automation has become popular in detecting and monitoring plants’ nutrient deficiencies in recent times. The predictive model developed by various researchers were so designed that it can be used in an embedded system, keeping in mind the availability of computational resources. Nevertheless, the enormous popularity of smart phone technology has opened the door of opportunity to common farmers to have access to high computing resources. To facilitate smart phone users, this study proposes a framework of hosting high end systems in the cloud where processing can be done, and farmers can interact with the cloud-based system. With the availability of high computational power, many studies have been focused on applying convolutional Neural Networks-based Deep Learning (CNN-based DL) architectures, including Transfer learning (TL) models on agricultural research. Ensembling of various TL architectures has the potential to improve the performance of predictive models by a great extent. In this work, six TL architectures viz. InceptionV3, ResNet152V2, Xception, DenseNet201, InceptionResNetV2, and VGG19 are considered, and their various ensemble models are used to carry out the task of deficiency diagnosis in rice plants. Two publicly available datasets from Mendeley and Kaggle are used in this study. The ensemble-based architecture enhanced the highest classification accuracy to 100% from 99.17% in the Mendeley dataset, while for the Kaggle dataset; it was enhanced to 92% from 90%.

In the past decade, social media has become an increasingly prevalent, being the daily form of communication and entertainment for a majority of individuals. Social media and networking sites are not designed to appeal to a specific type of personality and are designed to benefit many. The students of Generation Z respond positively to teaching styles that incorporate technology-based learning, and frequent communication or feedback. Gen Z students with disabilities are entitled to the same opportunities and experiences as their peers without disabilities. This includes being exposed to various forms of social media to discover alternative ways to communicate, interact with the community, find information and access entertainment. While other members of Generation Z possess the capability to pick up a smart phone or computer, create a social media account and figure out the functions independently, students with disabilities may require explicit instruction, strategies and practice with social media usage.
