Fourty five local buffaloes naturally infected with A. marginal age of 2-5 years. Clinical signs, present parasireamia haematological and biochemical changes were studied. Thin thick blood smears Stained with Gimsas stain were used to identify the parasite. The results indicated that most of the infected were suffering from mild form of infection and the 1I11p01”l11I1E' clinical signs observed were mild rise of body temperature, increase respiratory and plus rate, weal: ruminal contraction and generalized weakness. Palcness and iteration of mucous membrane, loss appetite, nasal and ocular discharge, coughing, salivation, atarcp, constipation, diarrhea, and rccumbancy. Statistical analysis showc increase (P<0.01) in body temperature, respiratory and pulsera wlflc nigrrificant decrease (P<0.01) in ruminal contraction We. observed. Parasiteamia in infected animals ranged from 1.3- 5.2%. Values of red blood cell, haemoglobin and packed cell volume were significantly low (P<0.01). Total leulcocyric and neutrophils count was significantly increase (P<0.0l). and (P<0.05) respectively. Blood indices values showed a significant increase in (MCHC) (P<0.0l) while (MCV) values showed no difference, reticulocytes were also present mildly biochemical changes indicated higher levels of AST. Total bilirubin (P<0.01). Total protein concentration was less (P<0.01) and no difference was observed inALT and blood urea nitrogen levels between infected and control animals.

Background: Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) involves various organs of the body causing several biochemical changes which plays an essential role in estimating the patients’ condition and prognosis, directing treatment, and even evaluating the curative effects. The present study aimed to assess the biochemical changes among the COVID-19 patients during early pandemic. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Dhaka among purposively selected 237 confirm COVID-19 cases. Data were collected through face to face interview and review of medical records using a pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire. The study was conducted in the Combined Military Hospital Dhaka from 15 April 2020 to 31 May 2020 Results: Highest number of the respondents were in the age group of 31-40 years (37.1%) with male predominance (83.1%). About 95.6% were Muslim and 58.6% were educated up to secondary level. About 87.8% had contact with a confirmed case and having 47.7%, 37.2%, 15.1% cardiovascular, endocrine and respiratory comorbidities respectively. Fever (34.6%) was the most common presenting symptoms followed by cough (22.9%), sore throat (10.6%). Neutrophilia observed in 26.16%, lymphopenia in 20.7%, thrombocytopenia in 14.3% cases, 30.0% with positive D-dimer test, 22.4% either sepsis or systemic infection in procalcitonin estimation, 28.3% with increased ferritin, 28.7% with positive C reactive protein, 21.1% with increased LDH. Chi-square analysis revealed a statistically significant association between cardiovascular and endocrine diseases with several biochemical changes (p<0.05). Conclusion: Early identification of various biochemical changes would help the physician for appropriate assessment and management. JOPSOM 2021; 40(1): 34-42

ABSTRACT: This study identified physiological and biochemical changes in ‘Fuyu’ persimmon buds during dormancy. Branches were collected between March and August 2015. Dormancy was evaluated by biological testing of isolated node cuttings at 25 °C and a photoperiod of 16 h. The variables analyzed were water content; reducing sugar content; respiratory activity; activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), guaiacol peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) enzymes; hydrogen peroxide content (H2O2) and lipid peroxidation. At the end of March 2015, the plants were already dormant, and the leaves and fruits present indicated a paradormancy effect. Induction of endodormancy may have occurred in June 2015, when chilling hours (CH) below 7.2 °C and higher CH below 12 °C began to accumulate, which coincided with the period in which there was a decrease in water content and respiratory activity, an increase in reducing sugars, a decrease in SOD, CAT, APX and PPO and an increase in H2O2. After an accumulation of 553 CH below 12 °C, the budburst capacity increased, and the buds presented increased water content, decreased reducing sugars content, increased respiratory activity, low activity in SOD, CAT, APX and POD and high levels of H2O2.
