Abstract Data are generated during all human activities related to digital technology. In recent times, scientific research has increasingly opted for digital data as its primary source of data; data definition changes for different disciplines and researchers. In this context, we study the main characteristics of data librarianship as a specialized field of traditional librarianship concerned with data use in libraries. Our work is organized as follows: First, we present a proposed Venn diagram on the theoretical foundations of data librarianship; then, we point out the core skills needed by data librarians. Based on a non-exhaustive literature review, we point out the main topics of research in data librarianship. We describe the significance of research data, data management, data curatorship, and data repositories. Finally, we list a few certification courses in data librarianship. We conclude that data librarianship plays a dynamic role in the practical application of data technologies in libraries, and that professional development, certification, and training in data librarianship are interdisciplinary tasks linked to digital technologies.

The present paper deals with innovative approaches to teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in the field of interdisciplinarity. The paper starts with the novelty and topicality of the issue in question. It makes an attempt to eliminate a contradiction now apparent in Ukrainian education regarding the theoretical foundations and practical application of the basic ESP principles in vocational schools and universities. The authors explore the concept of interdisciplinarity and its didactic potential when applied to the ESP teaching process. It is stated that the interdisciplinary approach is able to provide new and exciting possibilities when it stimulates the learners’ interest in foreign languages both in and outside of an educational environment. The paper introduces a new methodological option in the ESP educational process – an interdisciplinary bilingual project. As it dares to be an innovative type of group project, some theoretical considerations are necessarily discussed. Its basic categories, implementation objectives, interdisciplinary characteristics are identified. The paper justifies the didactic appropriateness of the project in question and its interdisciplinary practicality.

The paper examines theoretical foundations of tactical and criminalistic complexes and their practical application in the criminal proceedings. Scientific approaches to understanding notion "tactical and criminalistic complex", its functional purpose in the investigative and judicial activities are analyzed. It is proved that the doctrinal approaches to the definition of the notion under consideration should be based on the differentiated understanding of such organizational and tactical means as a tactical operation and tactical combination.

The article is aimed at demonstrating the practical application of graph theory as a subsection of the theoretical foundations of computer science in solving one of the interdisciplinary problems — describing the structure of the cadmium sulfide molecule using methods and indices of chemoinformatics. The article presents the results of calculations of the atom-bond connectivity index (ABC), of the geometric and arithmetic index GA, of the generalized Randic index, GA5 and ABC4, of the Zagreb indices for the chemical graph of cadmium sulfide (CdS). Topological indices for cadmium sulfide are considered for the first time, although the task of calculating these indices is not new in itself. The relevance of the results is emphasized by the fact that cadmium sulfide is widely used in various fields, such as optoelectronics, photodetectors, photoresistors, etc.

Data symmetry and asymmetry might cause difficulties in various areas including criteria weighting approaches. Preference elicitation is an integral part of the multicriteria decision-making process. Weighting approaches differ in terms of accuracy, ease of use, complexity, and theoretical foundations. When the opinions of the wider audience are needed, electronic surveys with the matrix questions consisting of the visual analogue scales (VAS) might be employed as the easily understandable data collection tool. The novel criteria weighting technique VASMA weighting (VAS Matrix for the criteria weighting) is presented in this paper. It respects the psychometric features of the VAS scales and analyzes the uncertainties caused by the survey-based preference elicitation. VASMA weighting integrates WASPAS-SVNS for the determination of the subjective weights and Shannon entropy for the calculation of the objective weights. Numerical example analyzing the importance of the criteria that affect parents’ decisions regarding the choice of the kindergarten institution was performed as the practical application. Comparison of the VASMA weighting and the direct rating (DR) methodologies was done. It revealed that VASMA weighting is able to overcome the main disadvantages of the DR technique—the high biases of the collected data and the low variation of the criteria weights.

AbstractThe article presents theoretical foundations of a two-diode equivalent model of a photovoltaic cell/module (PV), together with calculation procedures. A physical interpretation of individual components of an equivalent model was presented. Its practical application in predicting efficiency of operation of various PV cells and modules in low insulation conditions was demonstrated. The obtained predictions were verified with the actual results of their operation in open space (outdoor). The practical suitability of the “model” in early detection of ageing phenomena, such as, for example, absorber degradation taking place in PV modules, was demonstrated. The article was prepared on the basis of the results of testing five different PV modules with various constructions, made of different materials and absorbers, such as: c-Si, mc-Si, CIS, a-Si_SJ, a-Si_TJ. The used measurement data were collected during the 16-year period of the experimental PV modules testing system operation in University of Opole, equipped with a data acquisition system.

Abstract The article presents theoretical foundations of application of the reduced I-V Blaesser’s characteristics in predicting a photovoltaic cell/module (PV) efficiency, together with calculation procedures. A detailed analysis of the error of this transformation method of characteristics was carried out. Its practical application in predicting efficiency of operation of various PV cells and modules in medium and high insulation conditions was demonstrated. The practical suitability of the presented method in early detection of ageing phenomena, such as, for example, absorber degradation taking place in PV modules, was demonstrated. The article was prepared on the basis of the results of testing five different PV modules with various constructions, made of different materials and absorbers, such as: c-Si, mc-Si, CIS, a-Si_SJ, a-Si_TJ. The used measurement data were collected during the 16-year period of the experimental PV modules testing system operation in Opole University, equipped with a data acquisition system.
