The evolution of the nuclear market explains why there are only nine members of the nuclear club, not twenty-five or more, as some analysts predicted. In the absence of a supplier cartel that can regulate nuclear transfers, the more suppliers there are, the more intense their competition will be, as they vie for market share. This commercial rivalry makes it easier for nuclear technology to spread, because buyers can play suppliers off against each other. The ensuing transfers help countries either acquire nuclear weapons or become hedgers. The great powers (China, Russia, and the United States) seek to thwart proliferation by limiting transfers and putting safeguards on potentially dangerous nuclear technologies. Their success depends on two structural factors: the global distribution of power and the intensity of the security rivalry among them. Thwarters are most likely to stem proliferation when the system is unipolar and least likely when it is multipolar. In bipolarity, their prospects fall somewhere in between. In addition, the more intense the rivalry among the great powers in bipolarity and multipolarity, the less effective they will be at curbing proliferation. Given the potential for intense security rivalry among today's great powers, the shift from unipolarity to multipolarity does not portend well for checking proliferation.

Subject Outlook for the Five Eyes alliance. Significance The stability of the Five Eyes intelligence sharing partnership between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States is under stress over Chinese participation in the members’ 5G telecommunications networks. Impacts Possible US concessions on the supply chains of Chinese firms would ease strain within the Five Eyes alliance. European corporates will redouble efforts to burnish their security credentials to capture 5G market share. London’s eventual decision on Huawei will influence the EU and Asian democracies.

Traditional U.S. purchasing is under assault. Japanese purchasing practices, featuring frequent “just-in-time” deliveries in small quantities, have made inroads among Japanese subsidiaries in the United States and more recently in the U.S. auto industry. Just-in-time (JIT) buying tends to be accompanied by a host of structural changes: Long-term, stable buyer-supplier relationships; avoidance of annual rebidding; sole-source contracts; improved containerization; and localized buying, to name just a few. The benefits of JIT purchasing, to both buyer and supplier, include lower material costs, higher productivity, and improved qualify. The strategic advantages—growth of market share and stable relationships—can be significant. Geographical vastness is one of several obstacles in the way of widespread use of JIT buying practices in the United States. The companies that have pioneered in the development of JIT purchasing in this country have demonstrated that most of the obstacles are not insurmountable.

Title: Export Performance of Indonesian Shrimp In the United States During 2009-2017: A Constant Market Share Model Approach  Export is an important sector to calculate the economic growth of the country. Shrimp is one of main commodity that gives significant contribution to Indonesia economic. The research was aimed at analyzing the export performance of Indonesian shrimp in the United States during 2009-2017. Specifically, the shrimps were grouped into three categories, frozen shrimp, fresh shrimp, and processed shrimp. Constant Market Share (CMS) approach was used in this study. This study used secondary data from 2009 to 2017 that were collected from the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Division (UN Comtrade) and International Trade Center (ITC). The average growth of Indonesia shrimp was higher than the average growth of the world shrimp exports. The result of CMS suggested that export performance of frozen shrimp was better than the fresh shrimp and processed shrimp based on product composition and competitiveness effect. However, processed shrimp was better than frozen shrimp and fresh shrimp in terms of distribution effect. The result showed that Indonesia shrimp exports were still focused only on frozen shrimp rather than fresh shrimp and processed shrimp. Frozen shrimp had a great potential of development despite of its poor distribution (negative value). This phenomenon suggested a necessary evaluation on the production, distribution, and product quality to improve the product performance especially on fresh shrimp and processed shrimp.

North American agriculture is passing through yet another period of adjustment in markets, production levels, and government programs. The adjustment grows out of an enormous change in global food conditions after 1980. Nations that traditionally imported large amounts of foodstuffs begin to move toward greater self-sufficiency and nations that exported to them saw surpluses began to pile up in their warehouses. The burden of these shifts was not borne evenly by exporting nations. The United States experienced a dramatic downturn in its food exports while other nations, often using government subsidies to gain market share, went on increasing production and exports.

Yogurt drinks have seen a 66% increase in consumption in the United States over the last five years. Even though there has been an increase in yogurt drink consumption, the market share of drinkable dairy beverages remains small. Carbonated dairy beverages have become increasingly popular in recent years, and innovations in this area could help drive increased consumption of these beverages. Currently traditionally carbonated dairy beverages, like kefir, are the most popular carbonated dairy beverages on the market. Carbonation at appropriate levels in dairy products, especially dairy beverages, has been shown to improve the sensory attributes, quality, and shelf life of these products. Probiotics, which are added to yogurt drinks for their health benefits, are not harmed or negatively affected by carbonation. Several methods have been developed to carbonate dairy beverages in a manufacturing setting, although these methods have not been widely applied to commercially available products. The increased consumption of dairy beverages and the benefits of carbonation upon these beverages means that there are opportunities to develop widely accepted and popular carbonated dairy beverages. The objective of this article was to review available literature on carbonated dairy beverages and to discuss the challenges and opportunities in this area.

International markets for the majority of agricultural commodities are extremely complex. They include public and private traders along with influences from domestic and international government policies. In recent years, the United States has experienced a decline in the market share in two of its major agricultural exports—rice and wheat. For example, at one time the United States had roughly 45 percent of the world wheat market; but, by the end of 1985, its share had dropped below 40 percent. Also, in terms of rice, the United States market share has dropped from 25 percent to below 20 percent.

Significance TSMC has a market share of more than 50% in chip manufacturing, and makes the vast majority of cutting-edge chips. Securing chip supply is now an issue of national and economic security for the United States, China and other major countries, putting Taiwan's dominance into question. Impacts Chip shortages will not be solved until next year; all aspects of manufacturing will be affected. Most products only need lower-end chips and Chinese producers are likely to satisfy this demand by producing higher volumes. Companies will explore silicon alternatives and shift to cloud computing, where connecting devices can run on slower chips. Competition will intensify for talent necessary to run chip fabrication plants.
