The advocates for the sustainable development theory question current methods applied to achieve the economic growth. This theory states that the economic growth should not increase the environmental pollution and the social tension. The irrational use of natural resources and insufficient investments in the human capital cause a inadequate development path for various countries and their territories. This article models three components for sustainable development of the RF constituent entities which shape the economic, social, and environmental areas of human life: GRP growth, better living standards evaluated against social wellbeing coefficient, and pollution reduction. This study aims to substantiate the reciprocal relationships between three above mentioned components of the sustainable development in the Russian regions and to develop the forecasting tools for further practical recommendations. The methodology of open vector autoregressions is taken to be the main research method. In this case, special attention has been paid to find the optimal maximum lag value in the model and to substantiate the Granger causality between endogenous variables. The results of the study prove that economic, social, and environmental areas of the human activity are interconnected. To achieve the sustainable development for the regional systems under the acquired model, sustainable development in the Russian regions is achieved by investing more into the human capital and macroeconomic stability. These tools could be applied to forecast the changes in the economic, social, and environmental components of the RF regions’ sustainable development. The tools have been verified with the data on the social and economic development of Perm region, which gives high quality forecasts with a low forecast error value. Further update of the mathematical tools and forecasting the social ecological and economic connections become the basis for the development of the optimal trajectory for the sustainable development in Russian regions and provide better quality for the developed and implemented regional strategies for the social and economic development.

As awareness has grown about the damage being done to the natural environment, limits of the earth’s finite resources, and the realities of climate change, environmental advocates have demanded sustainable development practices so that future generations will be able to meet their needs. Meanwhile, the widespread exploitation of workers in the industrial sector triggered the labor movement’s fight for social-economic justice. This focus on socio-economic justice that characterizes the labor movements is enlarged in the “sustainable development” framework which articulates triple bottom line practices that emphasize the interconnectedness of people, planet, and profit. The social work profession has joined these efforts, expanding its notion of the person-in-environment as it advocates for the needs of individuals, families, organizations, and communities. However, some scholars have problematized “sustainability,” questioning what exactly is being sustained, how sustainability is measured/evaluated, and who benefits.

Cooperatives are considered an organizational alternative based on principles and values. These organizations seek the fulfillment of social and economic benefits for their members as well as for the community in which they develop. Their nature allows them to solve problems such as social and labor exclusion as well as environmental issues. However, although their benefits to society have been extensively studied, little is known about how these organizations contribute to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim of this study is to analyze the way in which the social benefits generated by cooperatives contribute to the fulfillment of the SDGs in Mexico City. This qualitative study uses interviews and thematic analysis to identify and define the different social benefits generated by 134 cooperatives in Mexico City. These benefits were analyzed to identify whether they contribute to the fulfillment of the SDGs. The results stimulate the theoretical and empirical discussion about the role of cooperatives and their contribution to solving current social problems, as established by the United Nations. The article presented is of scientific interest and it is also relevant for the elaboration of public policies aimed at producing better results for these types of organizations.

The goal of this paper is to test the topical and possible application of sustainable development principles in the protected areas. The sustainable development is observed as a goal and the flexible mechanism for reaching the consensus set by the fundamental postulates of the Agenda 21, among all the relevant factors in the decision making and enforcement of regulations. It is unquestionable that the spatial planning possesses the necessary integrative potentials for management of changes, long term time horizon and the catalytic position in reconciliation of public, social and private interest. The road towards sustainability is a long and complex process, because it requires the change of the way of thinking and behavior of all the social factors, that is, establishment of the understanding the environmental effect of the development is as important as the economic one. The main guidelines of this reconciliation must be the vision and the aims of preservation of natural resources, but not as the ultimate requirement of the authorities, but as the argument-supported and articulated public interest. This paper refers to the Spatial plan of the special area of Sicevo gorge through the review of basic regimes of natural resources protection, restrictions and prohibitions. It also pays attention to the measures which will allow to achive sustainability of development as well as apply protective regimes.

The practical definition of sustainable development remains "balance between the social, economic and natural resources”. To builda system for sustainable development inprogress is very difficult; it should be noted that to talk about the three elements at thesame time. Finding balance, adds more difficult, because, "the preservation of theecosystem", includes in itself, human capital, making peoples an integral part of theecosystem that we are trying to save. Mostly, sustainable development requires major andradical changes, in particular to human behaviors and habits, connected to nature and theeconomy. The aim of this article is to identify the role of education in sustainabledevelopment. The development of education inthe context of sustainable development, promotes the correct answer of science, but a way of engaging with different perspectiveson the world we live in, and share together every moment of our lives.
