The demand for sustainable development and the advantages of industries are expediting over time with the triggering of green innovation performance (GIP). Improving a firm’s GIP, especially in manufacturing industries, can accelerate green development and mitigate the global-concerned environmental issues. Thus, to investigate GIP from its antecedent factors, we delineate the relationship between network potential, absorptive capacity, environmental turbulence, and GIP based on social network theory, organizational learning theory, and contingency theory. We tested our hypotheses based on 233 sets of questionnaire surveys from high-tech manufacturing firms in China through deploying the hierarchical regression and bootstrap method. Our empirical findings reveal that the network potential dimensions, including network position centrality (NPC), network structure richness (NSR), and network relationship closeness (NRC), significantly positively impacted the GIP. The absorptive capacity (AC) partially mediated the relationship between the network potential dimensions and GIP. Environmental turbulence (ET) as an essential mechanism not only positively moderated the relationship between AC and GIP but also enhanced the AC mediation effect. These findings indicate that manufacturing firms should continue to improve network potential and AC and respond rapidly to changes in the external environment to enhance GIP, consequently contributing to the sustainable development of the economy.

Faced with the bottlenecks and shortcomings brought about by the resource and environmental issues regarding the sustainable development of the economy and society, green innovation has become an important symbol to measure the sustainable competitive advantage of a country and a region. As an important carrier of green innovation, the evolution process of the collaborative innovation network and its green innovation performance are affected by many factors. Therefore, this paper refines the influencing factors of the formation and evolution of collaborative innovation networks and the evaluation indicators of the green innovation performance by literature analysis. According to the characteristics of each evolutionary influence factor, the relationship governance mechanism, relationship strength, and dominant role are defined as decision factors. The rest are defined as drivers. Then, the Analytic Network Process (ANP) is used to empirically analyze the interaction between network evolution decision, driving factors, and green innovation performance, and the interaction relationship model of decision factors, driving factors, and green innovation performance is obtained. The qualitative simulation algorithm based on qualitative simulation (QSIM) basic theory is used to simulate the evolution of a collaborative innovation network, and find the optimal decision to make the green innovation performance reach its relatively high point. Finally, this paper considers the Collaborative Innovation Center of Ecological Building Materials and Environmental Protection Equipment in Jiangsu Province of China as the research object, focusing on its initial stage of growth and maturity. Combining the theory of QSIM with the actual simulation, according to the different development stages of the Collaborative Innovation Center, this paper provides decisions that can promote the rapid improvement of green innovation performance in three aspects: relationship governance mechanism, relationship strength, and core leadership.

Carrying out green innovation is beneficial for firms to cope with environmental protection pressure and achieve sustainable development. Existing research has paid enough attention to the driver of green innovation, but still does not reveal how green innovation can be conceived and realized. This paper answers the above question from the perspective of international M&As, examines the relationship between exploratory international M&As, exploitative international M&As and green innovation performance, and further probes into how strategic and environmental factors moderate the green innovation effectiveness of exploratory and exploitative M&As. Results indicate that exploratory and exploitative international M&As both are beneficial for green innovation performance, and to maximize green innovation performance, implementing exploratory M&As is more beneficial for firms pursuing high green image and operating in a high green subsidy environment. By contrast, carrying out exploitative M&As is more effective for firms pursuing low green image and operating in a low green subsidy environment. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

The objectives of this study are twofold. First to explore the extent to which green human resource practices are applied in industrial companies in Jordan. Second, to investigate the impact of applying green human resources practices on green innovation performance. Green human resource practices were measured using green recruitment, green performance measurement, green training and development, and green pay and rewards. Green innovation performance was measured by green product innovation and green process innovation. Using a questionnaire developed based on the literature and distributed to a sample of managers (n = 350) from industrial companies (N = 47) in Jordan, the findings revealed a moderate degree of GHR practices adoption by industrial companies in Jordan. On the other hand, the results emphasized a significant effect of GHR practices on companies’ green innovation performance. In light of these results, the study recommend that industrial companies should pay greater attention to the adoption of GHR practices due to the positive impact of these practices on improving the innovation performance of companies. The study is considered one of the few studies that dealt with the impact of green human resource practices on green innovation performance, thus making a significant contribution to industrial companies and companies in other sectors in terms of the importance of GHR practices and the positive impact of these practices.
