Here, we report the 4.1-Mb draft genome sequence of Bacillus subtilis subsp. natto strain CGMCC 2108, a high producer of poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA). This sequence will provide further help for the biosynthesis of γ-PGA and will greatly facilitate research efforts in metabolic engineering of B. subtilis subsp. natto strain CGMCC 2108.

We report here the 4.092-Mb high-quality draft genome assembly of a newly isolated poly-γ-glutamic acid–producing strain,Bacillus subtilisIa1a. The genome sequence is considered a critical tool to facilitate the engineering of improved production strains. Exopolysaccharides and many industrially important enzymes can be produced by this new strain utilizing different carbon sources.

ABSTRACT The Bacillus subtilis subsp. subtilis type strain DSM10 has been used as a reference in various studies. However, detailed information about the genome has not been available. Therefore, whole-genome sequencing was performed, and the sequence was compared with that of the related B. subtilis strain NCIB3610.

We present the high-quality draft genome sequence of Bacillus subtilis SB-14, isolated from the Namibian social spider Stegodyphus dumicola. In accordance with its antimicrobial activity, both known and potentially novel antimicrobial biosynthetic gene clusters were identified in the genome of SB-14.
