Abstract This paper considers an iterative algorithm of solving the multiple-sets split equality problem (MSSEP) whose step size is independent of the norm of the related operators, and investigates its sublinear and linear convergence rate. In particular, we present a notion of bounded Hölder regularity property for the MSSEP, which is a generalization of the well-known concept of bounded linear regularity property, and give several sufficient conditions to ensure it. Then we use this property to conclude the sublinear and linear convergence rate of the algorithm. In the end, some numerical experiments are provided to verify the validity of our consequences.

Weighted restarting automata have been introduced to study quantitative aspects of computations of restarting automata. In earlier works we studied the classes of functions and relations that are computed by weighted restarting automata. Here we use them to define classes of formal languages by restricting the weight associated to a given input word through an additional requirement. In this way, weighted restarting automata can be used as language acceptors. First, we show that by using the notion of acceptance relative to the tropical semiring, we can avoid the use of auxiliary symbols. Furthermore, a certain type of word-weighted restarting automata turns out to be equivalent to non-forgetting restarting automata, and another class of languages accepted by word-weighted restarting automata is shown to be closed under the operation of intersection. This is the first result that shows that a class of languages defined in terms of a quite general class of restarting automata is closed under intersection. Finally, we prove that the restarting automata that are allowed to use auxiliary symbols in a rewrite step, and to keep on reading after performing a rewrite step can be simulated by regular-weighted restarting automata that cannot do this.

Interval sensitivity analysis of linear discretized structures with uncertain-but-bounded parameters subjected to stationary multi-correlated Gaussian stochastic processes is addressed. The proposed procedure relies on the use of the so-called Interval Rational Series Expansion (IRSE), recently proposed by the authors as an alternative explicit expression of the Neumann series expansion for the inverse of a matrix with a small rank-r modification and properly extended to handle also interval matrices. The IRSE allows to derive approximate explicit expressions of the interval sensitivities of the mean-value vector and Power Spectral Density (PSD) function matrix of the interval stationary stochastic response. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through numerical results pertaining to a seismically excited three-storey frame structure with interval Young’s moduli of some columns.

AbstractIn this paper, we studied the split equality problems (SEP) with a new proposed iterative algorithm and established the strong convergence of the proposed algorithm to solution of the split equality problems (SEP).

Abstract

In Uruguay, global participation of women in research is equal, although they do not have equal participation in decision-making spaces. Here I report inidcators that show a gap in women participation and visibilize a gender equality problem in science and academia. The consequences and causes of this problem are analyzed and guidelines are proposed for a public equality policy focused on addressing the strategic gender needs. Finally, I describe the experience of a research institute with the application of a gender equality public policy tool designed to promote and bring about cultural changes in organizations. This or a similar auditable tool could become a fundamental pillar for a public policy of equality in science.
