An S-band, compact, high power filter, for use in the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), has been designed and tested for multipaction. The telemetry, tracking, and commanding (TT&C) transponder of MOM is required to handle continuous RF power of 200 W in the telemetry path besides simultaneously maintaining an isolation of greater than 145 dBc to its sensitive telecommand path. This is accomplished with the help of a complex diplexer, requiring high power, high rejection transmit path filter, and a low power receive path filter. To reduce the complexity in the multipaction-free design and testing, the transmit path filter of the diplexer is split into a low rejection filter integral to the diplexer and an external high rejection filter. This paper highlights the design and space qualification phases of this high rejection filter. Multipaction test results with 6 dB margin are also presented. Major concerns of this filter design are isolation, insertion loss, and multipaction. Mission performance of the on-board filter is normal.

Abstract The design and first experimental results of Tx and Rx L-band bandpass filters for a high-power satellite diplexer are presented in this paper. Designed in the framework of an ESA ARTES AT project, the filters are based on TM010 mode dielectric resonators. These resonators allow for better results in terms of volume occupation with respect to other dielectric resonators still maintaining high Q-factor values (>2000). Volume saving above 30% is achieved with respect to standard coaxial filters. The filter geometries and materials have been chosen in order to improve the power-handling and to cope with related critical issues for space applications (i.e. avoid any multipactor discharge in the operating RF power range and low-PIM response). Measurements of Tx filter show good correlation with the design in terms of central frequency, BW, and unloaded Q-factor (almost 3000). Measurements of Rx filter show a worse correlation with the design in terms of filter response shape. This is ascribed to size tolerances of one of the filter resonators. Multiple analyses are ongoing to remove this degradation in the final engineering model.

TORVEastro robot design is presented with a built prototype in LARM2 (Laboratory of Robot Mechatronics) for testing and characterizing its functionality for service in space stations. Several robot astronauts are designed with bulky human-like structures that cannot be convenient for outdoor space service in monitoring and maintenance of the external structures of orbital stations. The design features of TORVEastro robot are discussed with its peculiar mechanical design with 3 arm-legs as agile service robot astronaut. A lab prototype is used to test the operation performance and the feasibility of its peculiar design. The robot weighs 1 kg, and consists of a central torso, three identical three-degree of freedom (DoF) arm–legs and one vision system. Test results are reported to discuss the operation efficiency in terms of motion characteristics and power consumption during lab experiments that nevertheless show the feasibility of the robot for outdoor space applications.

The design of the ITER Toroidal Field (TF) coils requires an insulation system that is amenable to the very large scale vacuum impregnation processes planned for the construction of these devices, and that will provide reliable electro-mechanical performance after radiation exposure. To address this need, CTD has developed an epoxy/cyanate ester resin system designated CTD-425. This material meets the processing requirements for use in the TF coils, and cyclic mechanical testing of conductor assemblies has demonstrated its electro-mechanical strength after 60,000 mechanical cycles. In addition, this product recently passed radiation exposure tests coordinated by the ITER International Organization and is now qualified for use in constructing the TF coils. This paper summarizes the performance characterization and qualification test results for this insulation.

Kata Kunci: RFID, Sensor PIR, Modul GSM, ATmega328 Abstract Security is very important for everyone. Homes that are often left the owner can be used by thieves to perform the action. Therefore required an effective home security system so that homeowners can find out information if the house burglarized by thieves. The author designed a home security system by utilizing RFID technology that is equipped with PIR sensor and GSM module as SMS warning information system, where all the system is processed in an ATmega328 microcontroller. The purpose of this research is to change the conventional key with the solenoid key so that it is difficult to duplicate and reduce the chance of theft action when the house is empty. Research methods used, among others, starting from data collection (observation, interview and literature study) as well as making tools (planning, analysis, design and testing). Based on the test results obtained that the solenoid key can work in accordance with the given RFID access card. PIR sensors and GSM modules work well when thieves enter the house, so the house becomes secure when left by the owner. Key Word: RFID, PIR Sensor, GSM Module, ATmega328
