We analyze a batch arrival queue with a single server providing two kinds of general heterogeneous service. Just before his service starts, a customer may choose one of the services and as soon as a service (of any kind) gets completed, the server may take a vacation or may continue staying in the system. The vacation times are assumed to be general and the server vacations are based on Bernoulli schedules under a single vacation policy. We obtain explicit queue size distribution at a random epoch as well as at a departure epoch and also the mean busy period of the server under the steady state. In addition, some important performance measures such as the expected queue size and the expected waiting time of a customer are obtained. Further, some interesting particular cases are also discussed.

The mathematical study of waiting lines is mainly concerned with queue performance measures where several applications have been drawn in past studies. Among the vast uses and applications of the theory of queuing system in banking halls, is the main focus of this study where the theory has been used to solve the problem of long queues as witnessed in banks leads to resource waste. The study aims to model the waiting times for queues in selected banks within Eldoret town, Kenya. The latter component was put under D/D/1 framework and therein its mean derived while the stochastic component was put under the M/M/c framework. Harmonization of the moments of the deterministic and the stochastic components was done to come up with the mean of the overall bank queue traffic delay. The simulation was performed using MATLAB for traffic intensities ranging from 0.1 to 1.9. The results reveal that both deterministic and the stochastic delay components are compatible in modelling waiting time. The models also are applicable to real-time bank queue data whereupon simulation, both models depict fairly equal waiting times for server utilisation factors below 1 and an infinitely increasing delay at rho greater than 1. In conclusion, the models that estimate waiting time were developed and applied on real bank queue data. The models need to be implemented by the banks in their systems so that customers are in a position to know the expected waiting time to be served as soon as they get the ticket from the ticket dispenser.

In order to understand queueing performance given only partial information about the model, we propose determining intervals of likely values of performance measures given that limited information. We illustrate this approach for the mean steady-state waiting time in the $GI/GI/K$ queue. We start by specifying the first two moments of the interarrival-time and service-time distributions, and then consider additional information about these underlying distributions, in particular, a third moment and a Laplace transform value. As a theoretical basis, we apply extremal models yielding tight upper and lower bounds on the asymptotic decay rate of the steady-state waiting-time tail probability. We illustrate by constructing the theoretically justified intervals of values for the decay rate and the associated heuristically determined interval of values for the mean waiting times. Without extra information, the extremal models involve two-point distributions, which yield a wide range for the mean. Adding constraints on the third moment and a transform value produces three-point extremal distributions, which significantly reduce the range, producing practical levels of accuracy.

The phenomena are balking can be said to have been observed when a customer who has arrived into queuing system decides not to join it. Reverse balking is a particular type of balking wherein the probability that a customer will balk goes down as the system size goes up and vice versa. Such behavior can be observed in investment firms (insurance company, Mutual Fund Company, banks etc.). As the number of customers in the firm goes up, it creates trust among potential investors. Fewer customers would like to balk as the number of customers goes up. In this paper, we develop an M/M/1/k queuing system with reverse balking. The steady-state probabilities of the model are obtained and closed forms of expression of a number of performance measures are derived.

Distributions in Queuing Model can be extracted in quantitative analysis approach. Differences in Queuing Model Queue discipline, Single and Multiple service station with finite and infinite population is described in Quantitative analysis process. Basic expansions of probability density function, Expected waiting time in queue, Expected length of Queue, Expected size of system, probability of server being busy, and probability of system being empty conditions can be evaluated in this quantitative analysis approach. Probability of waiting ‘t’ minutes or more in queue and Expected number of customer served per busy period, Expected waiting time in System are also computed during the Analysis method. Single channel model with infinite population is used as most common case of queuing problems which involves the single channel or single server waiting line. Single Server model with finite population in test statistics provides the Relationships used in various applications like Expected time a customer spends in the system, Expected waiting time of a customer in the queue, Probability that there are n customers in the system objective case, Expected number of customers in the system

Starting with some mild assumptions on the parametrization of the service process, perturbation analysis (PA) estimates are obtained for stationary and ergodic single-server queues. Besides relaxing the stochastic assumptions, our approach solves some problems associated with the traditional regenerative approach taken in most of the previous work in this area. First, it avoids problems caused by perturbations interfering with the regenerative structure of the system. Second, given that the major interest is in steady-state performance measures, it examines directly the stationary version of the system, instead of considering performance measures expressed as Cesaro limits. Finally, it provides new estimators for general (possibly discontinuous) functions of the workload and other steady-state quantities.

This paper consists of two parts. The first part provides a more elementary proof of the asymptotic theorem of the refusals stream for an M/GI/1/n queueing system discussed in Abramov (1991a). The central property of the refusals stream discussed in the second part of this paper is that, if the expectations of interarrival and service time of an M/GI/1/n queueing system are equal to each other, then the expectation of the number of refusals during a busy period is equal to 1. This property is extended for a wide family of single-server queueing systems with refusals including, for example, queueing systems with bounded waiting time.

Avi-Itzhak, Maxwell and Miller (1965) studied a queueing model with a single server serving two service units with alternating priority. Their model explored the possibility of having the alternating priority model treated in this paper with a single server serving alternately between two service units in tandem.Here we study the distribution of busy period, virtual waiting time and queue length and their limiting behavior.

There are many queueing models in which there appears a semi-Markov matrix G(·), whose entries are absorption-time distributions in a Markov renewal branching process. The role of G(·) is similar to that of the busy period in the simple M/G/1 model. The computation of various quantities associated with G(·) is however much more complicated. The moment matrices, and particularly the mean matrix of G(·), are essential in the construction of general and mathematically well-justified algorithms for the steady-state distributions of such queues.This paper discusses the moment matrices of G(·) and algorithms for their numerical computation. Its contents are basic to the algorithmic solutions to several queueing models, which are to be presented in follow-up papers.
