Srikandi Tilapia is one of the superior hybridized varieties between black tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and blue tilapia (Oreochromis aureus). This fish has fast growth and high salinity tolerance. In its development, efforts are needed to improve and improve its genetic quality. Spawning srikandi tilapia using the parent of male blue tilapia F2 (family selection) is expected to improve performance better than the previous generation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the growth performance and heterosis value of Srikandi tilapia produced from the extraction of female Nirwana strain tilapia with male blue tilapia F2. Hatchery activities were carried out in freshwater by mass spawning method on the 25 m2 pool. Enlargement activities were carried out at brackish water pond with salinity 25–40 g / L, using net measuring 3×5×1 m3 for 120 days. The stocking density used is 15 fishes / m2. The results of this study indicate that at the final test, the hybridization of Nw ♀x Au (F2)♂ has the best performance with the average of long gain16.60 ± 0.41cm, weight gain 215.33 ± 12.19 g and survival rate 78.50 ± 02.12. Evaluation of heterosis values on the characters of length, weight, survival, and biomass showed a positive value both on the hybridization of Nw ♀x Au (F2)♂ and Au (F2)♀x NW♂. The highest high parent heterosis value for blue tilapia broodstock is shown by population Nw ♀x Au (F2)♂ with values in each character of 6.96% (length), 26.06% (weight), 2.63% (survival), 28.57% (biomass).

Blue tilapia (Oreochromis aureus) has known as euryhaline species refers to wide range of salinity tolerance. The pure population or hybrid with other strain of tilapia can be a good candidate in marginal coastal land use. Tilapia is the most important aquaculture species in Indonesia. Refers to FAO 2010, Indonesia is the third biggest of tilapia production after China and Egypt. One of the main problems in aquaculture is their feed as the major cost in fish farming. Various techniques had carried out to reduce of feed cost such as improving fish quality, sex reversal and feed management. This research aimed to determine of compensatory growth in tilapia as one technique in feed management. Fry obtained from natural spawning in freshwater pond. Acclimatization in 20 ppt made in aquarium for 4 days after one month reared in hapas. Fish reared in 2 m x 1 m hapas with five treatments and three replications. This research had conducted at brackish water pond in Yogyakarta. The treatments is A: one day fasting and six days feeding (1/6), B: 2/5, C: 3/4, D: 4/3 and E is control. Results showed that the biggest of average weight gain is treatment of E (68.36 g) followed by A (66.38 g), B (62.44 g), C (43.56 g), and D (27.30 g) respectively. One-way ANOVAs analysis with 95% of interval confidences continued with Tukey’s Pairwaise comparison showed that nothing significant different between E, A, and B. The biggest of daily growth rate and specific growth rate is E (0.75 g/day and 4.68 %bw/day) followed by A (0.73 g/day and 4.65 %bw/day); B (0.69 g/day and 4.58 %bw/day); C (0.48 g/day and 4.18% bw/day) and D (0.29 g/day and 3.65% bw/day) respectively. Survival rate of A is 73.00% followed by E. 72.00%, C. 71.00%, D. 69.69%, and B. 67.00% respectively. Feed conversion ratio of D is 0.83 followed by C (0.87), B (0.98), A (1.16), and E (1.41). Food efficiency ratio of D is 127.06% followed by C (118.75%), B (106.09%), A (88.87%), and E (73.38%). These results indicate that fasting of one day and two days has no significant effect on fish growth. Treatment A and B is the better treatment for fish culture refers to the better value of FCR, FER, and total weight gain.

In aquaculture, size grading application is made in order to protect against the disadvantages caused by the length difference between fish. Via this activity, large and small individuals separate each other during the feeding period. In this study designed for this purpose, it was aimed to determine whether the large individuals added to the herd had an effect on the growth performance of small individuals in the culture of Oreochromis niloticus♀ x Oreochromis aureus♂ hybrids. In the experiment, 0 age 1-4 g hybrid juvenile which just complete the juvenile period were stocked as 40 fish / m³ in 500 l fibre tanks placed in a greenhouse and cultured for 75 days. The experimental groups were designed as a graded group (G1) containing 1 g small individual, 1 g + 2 g (G2), 1 g +3 g (G3) and 1 g + 4 g (G4). At the end of the study, it was observed that grading did not positively effect on the growth of tilapia hybrids. In contrast, it was revealed that small individuals (18,60 ± 0,33g) in the G2 group, which included large individuals, grew better than small individuals in the other groups. However, the G2 group reached a better FCR (1.39 ± 0.05) than the other groups. The best economic conversion rate was again achieved in the G2 group (11.12 ± 0.75). As a result, it was observed that the culture practice with individuals of different sizes had a positive effect on the development of hybrid tilapia juvenile, especially when juvenile were stocked as 1+2g stocking composition, as a result of well competition can be established and this situation had a positive effect on the production cost.

The Ciliophoran Trichodina magna Van As and Basson, 1989 is recorded for the first time in in Iraq from gills of the blue tilapia Oreochromis aureus (Steindachner, 1864) Iraq from Al-Graiat location on the Tigris River at Baghdad city. The description and measurements of this external parasite as well as its illustrations are given.
