AbstractUltrafast photoinduced electron injection and subsequent relaxation steps of the indoline dye D149 were investigated for mesoporous thin films using pump–supercontinuum probe (PSCP) transient absorption spectroscopy in the range 370–770 nm. Three types of mesoporous ZnO layers were compared: Electrodeposited ZnO thin films prepared by using the structure-directing agents (1) Eosin Y (EY) and (2) Coumarin 343 (C343), which are known to produce ZnO layers of different morphology; and (3) mesoporous ZnO thin films consisting of sintered nanoparticles with a diameter of 20 nm. ABSTRACTWe synthesized the highly ordered mesoporous thin films with alkyltrimethyl-ammonium (CnTMA+). The arrangement of mesopores was depend on the Si/surfactant ratio. The hexagonal(P6mm) arrangement was observed, when Surfactant/Si ratio was 1/10. Increasing the Surfactant/Si ratio to 1.6/10, the cubic (Pm3n) arrangements were observed. A steel vessel for the measurement of the nitrogen adsorption isotherms of thin film on the substrate was designed. It was found that mesopore arrangements in the film is more regular than that in the powder samples prepared by the same acidic synthesis conditions.

By combining transient absorption spectroscopy with sub-20-fs UV pulses and ab initio numerical simulations we follow the ultrafast dynamics in pyrimidine nucleosides and visualize the passage through conical intersections presiding excited state deactivation.

The ultrafast photoisomerization of model azobenzene macrocycles was studied by transient absorption spectroscopy. Our results reveal a strong dependence of the dynamics and the overall molecular properties on the geometric constraints and the intramolecular strain.
