The highly advanced polymerization techniques developed in the natural and synthetic resin industries have created a strong demand, not only for general identification of polymeric substances, but for the characterization of the newer stereoregular polymers. Although the gross ir spectral features of a particular polymer are mostly attributable to its functional groups, there are often many small but significant spectral differences which are associated with different structural arrangements that can exist within the polymer. Thus, in a number of cases the subtle spectral differences can be correlated with molecular configurations and used as evidence for various structures.

Alkyd/melamine resin mixtures are mainly used in industrial baking enamels. The effects of the alkyd/butylated melamine resin ratio (from 90/10 to 50/50) and curing temperature (from 110 to 180?C) on the crosslinking and properties of the coating are presented in this paper. The curing reactions through functional groups of resins were monitored by FT-IR spectroscopy. The hardness, elasticity, degree of adherence and gloss were also determined. Optimal coating properties could be achieved with an alkyd/melamine resin ratio of 80/20, a curing temperature of 150?C and a curing time of 20 min.

On the basis of environmentally friendly raw materials of glycerol, by its interaction with monochloroacetic acid, 1,2,3-(trichloroacetyl)triglyceride was synthesized, which is used for further syntheses of xanthogenic acid derivatives containing a number of functional groups  dithiocarbamic, thiocyanic. The reaction of 1,2,3-(trichloroacetyl) triglyceride with potassium alkylxanthate in a ratio of 1:1 and 1:2 gave 1-butylxanthogenatoacetoxy-2,3-(dichloroacetoxy) propane and 1,3-di(alkylxanthogenatoacetoxy)-2-chloroacetoxypropane. Mixed esters of xanthogenic acid containing dithiocarbamic and thiocyanic groups were synthesized by the interaction of 1,2,3-(trichloroacetyl) triglyceride in the corresponding sequence, first with sodium diethyl dithiocarbamate, with potassium butylxanthate, as a result 1-butylxanthogenatoacetoxy-2-chloracetoxy-3-(diethyldithiocarbamatoacetoxy) propane. Sequential reaction of 1,2,3-(trichloroacetyl) triglyceride with potassium rhodanide with potassium butylxanthate gave 1-butylxanthogenatoacetoxy-2-chloroacetoxy-3-(thiocyanatoacetoxy)propane. The structure of the synthesized compounds has been proven by IR spectroscopy. The compounds have been tested as additives to improve the tribological characteristics of oils and have been shown to be effective.

The aim of this study is to characterize and identify the main biomarkers of food supplement PROMEN by analysis of plant ingredients comparatively with the final product. Alcoholic extracts of plants were prepared at 15% plant content and purified fractions were analyzed by FTIR screening. The fingerprint region (1000 to 1500 cm-1) indicated the presence of specific functional groups to identify and monitor the phenolic derivatives.

Mechanochemical activation (MCA) of electrode lignin was performed and the activated lignin was studied by IR-spectroscopy for different activation times. The activated lignin was tested for the ability of binding Cr2O72-, Cu2+, Ni2+ ions. It was established that structure deformation, which does not distort the stronger hydrogen bond lattice, but leads to the formation of highly developed surface with active functional groups, occurs in the course of MCA. Weaker inter-layer bonds are broken in the activation process and quickly recovered after the load release. The comparison of the sorption capacity of Cr2O72-, Cu2+, Ni2+ ions by the MCA treated vs. inactivated lignin for different activation times was performed.

In this work a preliminary estimation of new strains of theP. ostreatus using IR-spectroscopy extracellular protein hasbeen made. It is shown that the adsorption band at 3350, 2920,1410, 1300–1000, 925–850 and 690–600 sm-1 indicate thatvarious functional groups take place. Data IR-spectroscopyindicates that optical density of adsorption has differentintensity and it is as result of physiological particularitiesstudied strains. It is shown that an adsorption band at 1040 sm-1characterizes at present within extracellular proteins of activeoxygen, which participates in a destruction of the nutrientmedium carbon. The intensity of adsorption band at 1040 sm-1may be used for additional estimation of physiological activityof the fungus. The relationship between accumulation biomassof new isolates at fluid nutrient medium and intensity ofadsorption band.

Synthesis of nitrogen-containing phenolformaldehyde oligomers (phfo), grafted with vegetable  oils is aimed at the acquisition of new range coating materials. Oil has been used as an example of soybean and linseed oils. The interaction  between phfo and vegetable oil is carried out by  means of functional groups as result of the oxidation prosesses on carbon atoms adjacent to the double bond and the functional groups, including oligomer macromolecules. Physical-chemical properties of nitrogen-containing as result of modification by means of benzoguanamine (bga)  monoalkyl (C8-C12)phfo, grafted with soybean oil is reflected. The probable structure  of the nitrogen-containing monoalkyl(C8-C12)phfo, grafted with soybean oil has been studied by means of NMR- and IR-spectroscopy methods. The mechanism of the occurrence of first and second stages of the process are described.
