Purpose The purpose of this study is to empirically examine knowledge management (KM) practices as a moderator in the relationship between organizational culture and performance. The effect of four types of organizational culture on organizational performance was studied. In addition to direct effects, most importantly, KM practices as a moderator in strengthening the culture-performance relationship were empirically examined. Design/methodology/approach A carefully crafted survey instrument was distributed and data was collected from 1,255 respondents from 10 information technology companies in India. After checking the psychometric properties of the instrument, this paper performs hierarchical regression to test hypotheses. Findings The results reveal that: cooperative culture, innovative culture, consistent culture and effectiveness culture were all positively and significantly related to organizational performance; KM practices were positively and significantly related to organizational performance, KM practices moderate the relationship between various dimensions of organizational culture and organizational performance. Research limitations/implications As with any survey-based research, the present study suffers from the problems associated with self-report measures. These are common method bias and social desirability bias. However, this study attempts to minimize these limitations by following appropriate statistical techniques. Practical implications This study contributes to both practicing managers and the literature on KM and organizational culture. The study suggests that managers use KM practices, which are all-pervasive and very important for improving organizational performance. The results highlight the importance of implementing KM practices in organizations. Originality/value This study provides new insights into the importance of KM practices in achieving sustained competitive advantage by achieving organizational effectiveness. To the knowledge, the importance of KM practices is underemphasized in organizational culture research.

Purpose: The study sought to determine factors influencing knowledge management practices in the commercial banks in KenyaMethodology: The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of 44 commercial banks was identified. A sample of 17 banks was chosen using random sampling. A stratified approach was used to select respondents and a total of 85 respondents were surveyed from five departments in each of the 17 banks. Quantitative statistical techniques were used during the analysis to describe and analyze data. The results of the analysis were presented and interpreted in the form of descriptive statistics, as well as inferential statistics. Results: Regression result indicated that there exists a positive linear relationship between organizational Culture and Knowledge Management practices.   Results indicate that there exists a positive linear relationship between organizational structure and Knowledge Management practices.  This is evidenced by an odds ratio of 28.988.  The relationship is significant as shown by a p value of 0.0113.Results indicated that there was a positive and significant correlation of 0.759 between Information technology and Knowledge management practices. Results indicate that there exists a positive linear relationship between Organization Leadership and Knowledge Management Practices.  This is evidenced by a regression coefficient of 125.198.  The relationship is significant as shown by a p value of 0.0058.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommends that commercial banks in Kenya should continue investing in leadership as doing so would improve their knowledge management practices. In addition, commercial banks should adopt more flexible structures that support knowledge acquisition, dissemination and storage.   The study advocates that the cultural orientation of the organizations should be such that it supports the perception of knowledge management practices. Furthermore, commercial banks should continue investing in Information technology as doing so would improve the knowledge management practices.

The resource-based view of the firm attributes superior firm performance to organizational resources that are valuable, rare, non-substitutable, and difficult to imitate. Aligned with this view, the authors contend that both information technology (IT) and knowledge management (KM) comprise critical organizational resources that contribute to superior firm performance. The authors also examine the relationship between IT and KM, and develop a new second-order variable – IT-KM competence – with IT capability and KM performance as its formative indicators. Thus, this chapter contributes not only by investigating the determinants of firm performance but also by broadening our understanding of the relationships among IT, KM, and firm performance.

This paper is focused on providing a justification and rationale for the relationship between Knowledge Management (KM) theories, components of Information Technology (IT), and Decision-Making. A literature review is provided with the aim of examining the potential constructs associated with KM processes and components of IT in order to investigate potential aspects and factors pertaining to Decision-Making. In consideration to the findings garnered through the literature review, a research hypothetical framework was devised, combining the model characteristic constructs of the suggested model. In order to achieve framework validation, a survey was carried out across a total of 182 technical and administrative staff employed by various top and middle levels at a telecommunications organisation in Jordan—notably, Zain. Through the application of PLS Graph software coupled with the Structural Equation Model (SEM), an analysis was completed in consideration to the interrelationships inherent in those latent variables identified, comprising Decision-Making, IT components and KM processes. The findings garnered following the completion of the analysis suggest that there is an entirely mediating role in Knowledge Discovery and Knowledge Update. Furthermore, Knowledge-Sharing and Knowledge Application are, in part, mediating. In contrast, however, the relationship between IT components and Decision-Making are not mediated by Knowledge Capture and Knowledge Storage. This paper has been successful in filling the gap in the literature through garnering and highlighting further empirical evidence pertaining to the effects of KM processes on Decision-Making, with IT components positioned as a mediation construct.

All organizations have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic in different ways. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are more vulnerable to changes due to their limited resources. However, the capabilities of information technologies and processes of knowledge management can assist these enterprises to survive and respond appropriately to changes. Thus, this study aims to assess the extent to which information technology capabilities influence the responsiveness of SMEs to challenges that have emerged during the coronavirus crisis. It also investigates the degree to which knowledge management affects such a relationship in the context of Saudi Arabia. The study includes developing a survey as a data collection method. The responses from 136 SMEs were used to make an analysis and, consequently, draw a conclusion. It has been found that IT capabilities positively influence SMEs’ responsiveness to changes brought by coronavirus, through supporting work flexibility and providing a wide range of options in the supply chain, processes, and sales. It further found that knowledge management mediates the relationship between IT capabilities and SMEs’ responsiveness.

For Southeast Asia’s largest population, the prevalence of the emotional disorder has increased from 6% in 2013 up to 9.8% in 2018. Aligned with the e-government program, Knowledge Management (KM) offers an easier, faster, and transparent mental health services. However, the implementation relies on various factors. We conducted a workshop at 7 (seven) mental hospitals. The questionnaires were used to identify the factors that consist of awareness & commitment, strategy, culture, structure, people, and information technology (IT). We examine the hypothesis factors of the relationship by employing the statistical analyses of correlation. This study provides at testing the relationship between factors of people, process, and technology, for KM implementation in Indonesian mental hospitals. The results of the study confirm that the relationship between Process to Technology and People has a positive effect on significance. Meanwhile, the adop-tion of the existing technical facilities have not significant support for the needs of the KM. To sum up, the study suggests further improve-ment of leadership and systems in order to serve the best of mental healthcare.

The main objective of this study was to verify the moderating role of Information Technology on the relationship between KM implementation and organizational performance in a university context through Abdelmalek Essaadi University. by collecting the views of teacher-researchers, using a hypothetical-deductive reasoning approach and a quantitative working method. Our questionnaire was administered to a representative sample of 88 teacher-researchers from the different institutions of the university under study. The results obtained using Hierarchical regression prove the moderating and positive role of Information technology on the intensity of the relationship between the application of the KM and (Training, research, publication, and governance) as indicators of organizational performance with a change in the correlation rate from R=0.917 to R=0.974 with the addition of leadership as a moderator variable with a degree of impact of 5.7%. This paper presents empirical evidence on the importance of the organizational, technical, and human factors on knowledge management implementation and enhancing performance.
