This study was done with the aims to determine: (i) the correlation between agronomic traits and yield and (ii) the direct and indirect effects of agronomic traits on salt-tolerant rice yield. The field experiment was conducted directly on moderate salinity level of EC= 6.35 dS m-1 during the 2017 winter-spring cropping season in Central Vietnam. Ten salt-tolerant rice cultivars were studied. Results showed that yields of salt-tolerant rice cultivars had a positive correlation with traits of plant height, panicles per plant, panicle weight, and dry biomass, r = 0.3624*, 0.7019***, 0.4530** and 0.7837***, respectively. Total panicles per plant, panicle weight, and the number of grains per panicle directly affected rice yield with coefficients of dC = 0.5524, 0.8294 and 0.4355, respectively. Therefore, these traits should be used as good indicator traits for selecting salt-tolerant rice cultivars for the moderate salinity soil in Central Vietnam.

The interest to the introduced rice cultivars (Oryza sativa L.) is explained by thesearch for more suitable varieties with good adaptability and high yield to begrown under the agro-climatic conditions in Bulgaria. The new foliar treatmentproducts on the market - Folur, Amalgerol and Lithovit, have also provoked ourinterest. The survey was carried out in 2013 - 2015, applying the two-factor fieldexperiment following the split plot method. Two Turkish - Osmanchik 97 andGala, along with four Italian cultivars – Lince, Cameo, Puma and Brio were set asfactor one. The foliar product Folur (2 l/da), Amalgerol (1.2 l/da) and Lithovit(0.300 kg/da) were set as factor two. The following factors were studied:phenological development of the cultivars, productive tillering capacity and yield. It has been specified that Osmanchik 97 and Gala had a shorter vegetative period.Lince stood out against the 6 tested cultivars by highest tillering results – 4.70number of tillers/plant and was sharply outlined from the standard – Osmanchik97, Puma and Brio. The tested products Folur and Lithovit had proven their effecton the formation of more productive tillering capacity – by 7.7% and 13.1%respectively. The highest yield was observed with Cameo (954.5 kg/da) and Brio(949.1 kg/da), which surpassed the Osmanchik 97 (control) by 8.6% and 8%respectively. The Amalgerol treatment proved to have the strongest positive impacton productivity and increased the average yield of the tested cultivars by 11.3%.

Weedy rice belongs to the same species as grown rice, and because it has similar morphophysiological characteristics, its control is difficult, bringing negative effects to the crop. Thus, the work aimed to evaluate the allelopathic potential of the main paddy rice cultivars sowing in Santa Catarina on weedy rice. In the laboratory, with treatments organized in a 4 x 5 factorial scheme, the aqueous extract of four paddy rice cultivars (SCSBRS Tio Taka, SCS 116 Satoru, SCS 121 CL and SCS 122 Miura) was evaluated in five concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%). In a greenhouse, with treatments in a 4 x 2 factorial scheme, the straw allelopathy capacity of the same rice cultivars in two quantities (0.0 and 3.0 t ha-1) was evaluated to suppress germination and weedy rice initial growth. All experiments were carried out in a completely randomized design. In the first assay, the aqueous extract of the paddy rice cultivars used in the state of Santa Catarina did not have an allelopathic effect on weedy rice. In the second assay, it was found that the presence of rice straw reduced the density of weedy rice plants. However, the presence of straw on the soil favored the initial growth of the weed, significantly increasing the plant height, number of leaves per plant and shoot dry biomass.
