High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are a significant part of the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum to develop student competencies in the 21st century. Not only in the context of learning are HOTS considered important. They contribute to the National Examination held in Indonesia, so careful preparation for this exam is needed. Chemistry has basic concepts that require students to search and find facts, understand concepts, apply them procedurally, and analyze deeply. This study aims to map the analysis ability of students in Yogyakarta in working on HOTS-based chemistry national exam questions. This research is a quantitative-qualitative descriptive study with XII year students at a senior high school in Yogyakarta. The instruments used in this study were HOTS essay questions, interview sheets, and questionnaire sheets, analyzed with the Rasch Model. The results show that the students' analysis ability was still relatively low, with person reliability values of 0.56 and 0.39, and a Cronbach's alpha of 0.78. The quality of the HOTS questions was very good, with item reliability 0.97 and 0.95. Not many students in the two senior high schools have good analysis ability, so students must be better trained to optimize their potential in HOTS-based chemistry learning.

This research aimed to develop The Better Energy Encyclopedia for Indonesia (BEEI) as a chemistry learning source for senior high school students and to determine the quality of the encyclopedia according to assessment of five chemistry teachers as reviewer based on quality criteria (standard) of non-text books include content/material, presentation, language and images, and graphics expediency. This research used model of procedural development including of five stages, they are planning, organizing, implementation, product assessment, and data analysis. The developed encyclopedia contains 15 chapters of renewable energy and non-renewable energy. The initial product was reviewed by three peer reviewers, a media expert, and a teaching materials expert. The final product was assessed by five reviewers of senior high school teachers from different school. Assesment was done by using research instrument sheet consisting 34 items statements. The result of this development research was the Better Energy Encyclopedia for Indonesia. This product obtained an average final score (x) of 149.20. According to the assessment result by five reviewers, this final product quality of encyclopedia obtained the excellent category. Thus, the Better Energy Encyclopedia for Indonesia is worthy of being used as a chemistry learning source for senior high school students.

The lack of the students ' interest and attention toward the local wisdom values of the local culture is this research background. The phenomena are due to the absence of interactive media to strengthen character education based on local wisdom in school. The purpose of this research is to create an interactive media based on local wisdom values with the implementation of the iconic card to strengthen the local wisdom values of Malay culture which is useful to build students’ character education. The research used a qualitative descriptive method with social anthropolinguistics approach. The subject of this research was students of Nurul Hasanah Senior High School, Medan. The data were collected through field observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that the iconic card might be used as a media to teach Malay wisdom values with the use of the Pak Belalang icon and Malay pantun. Pantun in this research has local wisdom values of Malay culture such as moral, ethical and norm values. Therefore, it can be concluded that the iconic card can be used as media in strengthening the local wisdom values of Malay culture that useful for students' character education.

The development of technology today has a huge impact on education, especially in the learning process. Therefore, an educator must be able to adapt the learning process to technological developments. One way to apply technology development in learning systems is to use e-modules in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to use guided inquiry-based e-modules to see the magnitude of the increase in students' critical thinking skills in the material reaction rate after using guided inquiry-based e-modules. The research method used a quasy experiment with a pretest-postest design using two classes as the experimental class and the control class. The sample in this study were students of State Senior High School (SMAN) 1 Sebrida Indragiri Hulu class XI. The results obtained were an increase in students' critical thinking abilities from before the use of guided inquiry-based e-modules. After the use of e-module based guided inquiry. This increase is seen from the comparison between the experimental class and the control cash class. The experimental class using e-module has a higher critical thinking ability of students than the control class that does not use e-module in the learning process.

The use of tree thinking in learning biology is still rarely used. The purpose of this study was to identify the tree thinking emergence profile of senior high school students through the inquiry-based learning model. This research is using the experimental method. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach. The population in this study was 36 students of class X in SMA Negeri Sukabumi. The samples were taken by using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection was performed using a written test in the form of LKS by using five tree thinking indicators. The results showed that the value of tree thinking students for the first indicator gained a percentage of 69% included in the good category, the second indicator obtained a percentage of 63% included in the good category, the third indicator received a percentage of 73% included in the good category, the fourth indicator obtained a percentage of 81% included in the very category good, and the fifth indicator gets a percentage of 52% included in the category enough. This result leads to the Student learning outcomes that are categorized as good because the students follow the learning by using models, strategies, and learning approaches that can improve their ability of tree thinking in Arthropoda subjects. This study suggests that the inquiry-based learning model can be used as an alternative in learning biology to improve tree thinking skills.
