Neoliberalism is a pervasive phenomenon. A fundamental neoliberal concept allows for the selection of the best and most suitable option available for a specific course of action in any aspect of society. Not unexpectedly, the educational field, including physical education (PE), has been influenced by neoliberal ideas. A key element of neoliberalism in PE is the selection of workers external to the school system, as a suitable option to improve the educational experience. The involvement of external workers increases the diversity of stakeholders in the school system, who, with their actions and decisions, have the potential to influence the content and status of PE in schools. The purpose of this study was to understand the external provision infrastructure supporting PE in an Irish primary school. Specifically, we used network ethnography to understand the structure and the impact of external provision on school PE. Participants included two primary school teachers, the school PE coordinator and one PE external provider. Data analysis resulted in two themes. The first theme refers to the structure of the external provider system, and the second to the dynamics of the network between the main stakeholders. Taken together, a well-established external provision network in the school is revealed but the structure of the network, as designed, is not supporting PE as intended by the Irish educational system.

This study places the influence of principal leadership and teacher work commitment to the professionalism of primary school teachers in Cokroaminoto cluster, Semidang Aji District, OKU Regency. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the performance of the Cokroaminoto cluster primary school teachers in good category of 65.5%, that’s, the mean or average score is 61.4155 which in 52–63 interval. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the professionalism of teachers in the professional category of teachers in carrying out their duties is 77.5%. However, there are still teachers whose professionalism is in the quite professional category at 12.0% and even there are still teachers who are less professional in carrying out their duties by 2.8%, this is reflected in the indicator that teachers do not master the methods and evaluation of learning outcomes. Based on the results of multiple regression analysis, the regression equation line Y = 18.668 + 0.260X1 + 0.472X2 is obtained. These results indicate that this positive sign is in accordance with the theory and can be interpreted that the principal leadership and teacher professionalism are good, so the teacher's performance will be good too.

The research for teachers’ conceptions of the outside educational materials, that they discover and use, is very limited. In addition, there is also particularly limited research comparing teachers’ conceptions of the use of educational materials on the basis of the subject they teach. The present paper aims at investigating and comparing primary school teachers’ conceptions of the use of outside educational materials in mathematics and science teaching. For the purposes of this research, an electronic questionnaire was developed and completed by 212 primary school teachers in Greece. Data analysis traced primary school teachers’ conceptions of whether they use outside educational materials and, if they do, how frequently and in what way they use them, what motivates the teachers to discover outside educational materials and where they discover them, as well as the reasons why they might not use outside educational materials. Furthermore, the differences among teachers’ conceptions of the above issues were detected on the basis of the subject they teach (mathematics, science).

AbstractOrganisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) plays a pivotal role in organisational success. This research explored factors hypothesised to facilitate OCB within a primary school context. Two studies using questionnaire survey’s explored: (i) OCB relative to personal differences and psychological contracts; (ii) the relationship between OCB and principals’ leadership frames. Primary school teachers were recruited and responses analysed from 547 and 488 respondents, respectively. Results from both studies combined suggest that the leadership style of the principal and the employee’s expectations of their role within the school strongly influence their OCB. This study identifies factors that influence the prevalence of OCB in primary school teachers and confirms that the new theoretical framework provides a useful heuristic for managers, human resource management policy makers and academic researchers alike.

The aim of this study is to establish opinions of primary school teachers towards the implementation of free time lesson at primary schools.  Initially, a free time lesson survey was developed to obtain data from primary school teachers, in order to reach this aim.  Data analysis revealed that primary school teachers agreed to the essentiality of free time lesson related applications in primary schools, and that these applications could develop students in a positive way.  While teachers were indecisive towards questions stating some obstacles and negativities could develop in the free time lesson applications, they agreed that conditions essential to start free time lesson applications existed.
