Increasing the high number of under-fives entering the age of study, commonly called early childhood education (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini–PAUD), creates an opportunity to design a product that supports learning activities for the toddlers, namely folding study desks. This research aims to make a redesign of folding table-chair products specially designed for toddlers by considering ergonomic aspects that prioritize function and comfort using Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method through anthropometry approach of toddler’s body.  This study focuses on toddlers aged 3 yr to 5 yr who   are students of the playing group and kindergarten at Integrated Islamic Kindergarten (Taman Kanak-kanak Islam Terpadu-TKIT) “Rabbani”. Different body sizes of toddlers with adults are the main consideration in determining anthropometric approach, but it is also expected to produce ergonomic products both in terms of materials and product size to a child’s sitting position. The results of this study obtained a comfortable chair table, soft and comfortable backrest, strong seat resistance, comfortable padded seat cushion, has a place to store bag/footrest, has a place to store stationery, has an attractive color and seats safe to use, and has additional features for gadget. As for the changes made in terms of the dimensions of the chair that prioritize ergonomic values, the seat height is 60 mm, the back height is 33.2 mm, the width of the backrest is 30 mm, the length of the seat is 26.6 mm, and the seat width is 26.6   mm. All these additions are additional tolerance for comfort, especially for large children. Keywords: ergonomic product design; quality function deployment; toddler study chair design

In line with the times, the need for product development ideas has a high selling value. Economic value and product efficiency are highly considered in the design, one of which is the design of a stall or café chair. In general, the most used seats are permanent. In other words, it can't adjust when used for a few people or for a lot of people. Therefore it is necessary to design stalls and café chairs that can be stretched or shortened automatically. The purpose of designing this elongated chair is, it can be arranged so that it can be shortened, with this advantage we can save space and expand the space and of course it will be designed according to consumer needs. The elongated chair is made using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. Some methods that must be done, namely the Voice of Customer collection phase, which is done by distributing questionnaires to 25 respondents. The next step is House of Quality based on the results of the questionnaire. After the HOQ is completed, then the analysis and implementation phase of the results obtained at HOQ will be applied to the product design.

During the early development phase of PACS, its implementation was mainly a matter of the radiology department. This is changing rapidly, and PACS planning is increasingly seen in the context of a hospital-wide or regional approach. With increased networking among healthcare institutions and the growing relevance of teleradiology scenarios, PACS strategies must take not only local but also regional and global factors into consideration. For hospitals and healthcare institutions, quality function deployment (QFD) is a helpful tool for developing new systems or services. QFD was originally developed by Yoji Akao in 1966 when the author combined his work in quality assurance and quality control points with function deployment used in Value Engineering. QFD has been described as “a method to transform user demands into design quality, to deploy the functions forming quality, and to deploy methods for achieving the design quality into subsystems and component parts, and ultimately to specific elements of the manufacturing process” (Mizuno & Akao, 1994). QFD is designed to help planners focus on characteristics of a new or existing product or service from the viewpoints of market segments, company, or technology-development needs. The technique yields graphs and matrices. It is widely accepted that benefits of using QFD in the healthcare industry include: • Increased customer satisfaction • Improved quality • Time efficiency • Multidiscilplinary teamwork orientation • Documentation orientation The QFD method has been successfully applied to many industrial and manufacturing processes in order to ensure that quality is built into products at the outset rather than tested for after their production. However, this method has rarely been applied in the healthcare industry.

Consumer satisfaction in a restaurant can be improved through good product quality in accordance with the wishes and needs of consumers. Improving product quality is an important problem for a restaurant because it is beneficial for restaurants and consumers. The purpose of this study are: (1) to know the attributes of fried chicken that are considered important by consumers in the original Prambanan fried chicken restaurant, (2) to measure the level of importance of the quality of fried chicken products, (3) to measure the level of consumer satisfaction with the quality of fried chicken products and (4) knowing the strategy to improve the quality of fried chicken products. This study uses the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. The results of this study indicate that there are 11 attributes of product quality that are considered important by consumers with very important criteria. The biggest value of consumer interest is the attribute of fried chicken taste of 3.78. On the value of consumer satisfaction attributes of fried chicken chili variants have the smallest value of 3.08 with the highest IR of 1.30 need to provide and improve the quality of the product on the attributes of the fried chicken chili sauce. This paper discusses the development of E-saving glass (ESG) in Malaysia by using quality function deployment (QFD) method for market transformation. This paper focuses on two objectives, i.e., (i) to investigate the suitability of the ESG in Malaysian market for customer satisfaction, product quality and manufacturer competitiveness by using systematic tools of QFD process, and (ii) the implementation of ESG by looking at factors analysis based on QFD method and Malaysian market transformation. The QFD method is utilised by a multidisciplinary team to translate a set of customer requirements (the “voice of customer” (VOC)), market research and technical benchmarking data into an appropriate number of prioritised engineering targets that could be met by a new product design.

The Musculoskeletal disorder (MSDs) is skeletal muscle disorders that lead to damage in nerves, muscles, joints and cartilages. The damage is caused by muscle tension and degeneration. From the preliminary research in virgin coconut oil (VCO) processing industry, Central Java, Indonesia, there are potential risk of MSDs for workers. The majority of operators complaining on the right thigh (score 37) and left thigh (score 35). In addition, 50% of operators is work with moderate risk (rapid entire body assessment scores 4-7) and 50% others at a high risk level (rapid entire body assessment scores 8-10). Therefore, improvement is needed to prevent MSDs through work facility design using an integrated quality function deployment (QFD) method. In QFD, there is a concept screening phase to select some product design concept. To determine the priority, the QFD method can be integrated with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method. The research shows that attributes of work facility needed by user are ergonomic, portable, durable and aesthetic. Concept design B have the highest priority score 0,32 and selected as the final work facility design. The technical specification are made from mahogany wood with an attractive design, red colour combination and developed based on user's anthropometry data.

Globalization and client demands result in the need for investments for the survival of the companies. Forest harvest represents the highest costs and losses of wood production. Quality function deployment (QFD) is recommended to achieve quality by detecting customer needs. Thus, this study aimed to determine the variables that influence quality costs in the mechanized harvest to reach the quality control of forest activity. The research was developed in a company located in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The variables that influence quality costs in four categories (evaluation, prevention, internal and external flaws) were identified. The QFD method was used to translate the needs of internal and external customers (critical success factors) of mechanized harvesting activities into measurable technical characteristics (variables that influence quality costs), determining the weight for each relationship and, consequently, the balance of the categories, besides the correlations of the variables evaluated as strong, medium, weak, and non-existent. Among the 29 variables identified, 18 consisted of evaluation and prevention, representing the relative weights of 37.17% and 26.49%, respectively, and 11 represented internal and external flaws, with values of 26.57% and 9.73%, respectively. The correlation matrix found 334 correlation of the 406 cells: 195 (58%) strong, 86 (26%) medium, and 53 (16%) weak. In conclusion, the company must improve process quality by investing in evaluation and prevention aimed at reducing non-conformities and expansion of revenues.

The research aimed to improve the quality problem from the previous plant that contributed to the Rate of Quality (RQ) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) value in Cylinder Block Machining (CBM). The research was done in one of an automotive company in Indonesia. It had been applying Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) with Kaizen spirit to make continuous improvement even though this company had reached a world-class level on the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) standard. To express the needs and wants of the current machining plant and improve quality problems from the previous process in the casting plant, the researchers used Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. From the result, it is known that shrinkage defect at a casting product becomes the priority of the kaizen team to achieve next process customer satisfaction in a machining plant to increase the RQ and OEE value. By implementing improvement based on the highest value of Technical Priorities (TP) from House of Quality (HOQ), it can increase RQ value in CBM from 96,4% in December 2018 to 97,9% in February 2019. Then, OEE value increases from 92% to 93% within two months.

This study aims to design a biomass stove as a solution for lack of LPG gas in the community in Batu Panjang, Rupat Island, Riau. The Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method is used in this study by elaborating consumer needs through public opinion needs (questionnaire survey) and elaboration of the characteristics of consumer needs. A House of Quality (HoQ) matrix was created to determine the technical characteristics for design analysis of biomass stove and designed using the Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA). The result was a development of "Biomass Stove", which consists of a funnel for fuel, a fire funnel, a filter and an air chamber. The funnel chamber, which the fuel was made the insulation channel and the joining of the fire connector, forms an angle to increase the heat flow to funnel fuel and reduce the heat loss during cooking. The stove design is made safe, comfortable for users and environmentally friendly due to the existence of a filter and air chamber cover. The biomass stove was designed portable, and then it was light and easy to move around.
