In recent years, college health and physical educators have examined multiple teaching strategies that enhance students ability to learn state-required and nationally-required health and physical education standards and outcomes. Identifying such methods and implementing them into courses can be overwhelming and confusing to the college educator. Service learning is a teaching method that best fits into the experimental section of educational foundations. This is an educational method of teaching, learning, and reflection that easily merges traditional classroom curriculum with meaningful community service. This paper provides detailed discussion regarding the service-learning teaching strategy as well as step by step instructions for correct course implementation and optimal educational results.

Social-cognitive theory (Bandura, 1986) served as the framework to examine a physical education service-learning program's impact on pre-service educators' cultural competence. Participants included 53 undergraduates enrolled in two sections of Health and Physical Education for Children. The course's service-learning component provided pre-service educators opportunities to teach physical education to African-American and Hispanic children from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Participants described their experiences via daily logs, weekly reflections, and focus group interviews. Content analyses of the multiple data sources indicated that daily interaction with the children broadened participants' understanding of under-served children, changed their preconceived stereotypes, improved their language and communication skills, and impacted future teaching expectations. These findings suggest service-learning programs may valuably enhance pre-service educators' cultural competence for teaching.

Augmented Reality as a Didactic Support in the Learning of Dubbing of Wires in Orthodontic and Orthopedic ProceduresAbstractThe information and communications technology (ICT) enrich the teaching-learning process; the use of augmented reality environments to support dental procedures through the use of educational processes in preclinical orthodontic emerges as an alternative to improve the practice of students in different routines. Changes in nursing education involve the move from traditional teaching approaches that are teacher-centred to facilitation, a student centred approach. The studentcentred approach is based on a philosophy of teaching and learning that puts the learner on centre-stage. The aim of this study was to identify the challenges of facilitators of learning using facilitation as a teaching method and recommend strategies for their (facilitators) development and support. A qualitative, explorative and contextual design was used. Four (4) universities in South Africa which utilize facilitation as a teaching/ learning process were identified and the facilitators were selected to be the sample of the study. The main question posed during in-depth group interviews was: How do you experience facilitation as a teaching/learning method?. Facilitators indicated different experiences and emotions when they first had to facilitate learning. All of them indicated that it was difficult to facilitate at the beginning as they were trained to lecture and that no format for facilitation was available. They experienced frustrations and anxieties as a result. The lack of knowledge of facilitation instilled fear in them. However they indicated that facilitation had many benefits for them and for the students. Amongst the ones mentioned were personal and professional growth. Challenges mentioned were the fear that they waste time and that they do not cover the content. It is therefore important that facilitation be included in the training of nurse educators.

The primary research question asked: What is multiliteracy and how is this accomplished in elementary schools in Ontario, given the new directives within the 2019 Health and Physical Education curricular document? The qualitative research uncovered an understanding of multiliteracies that was examined via summative latent content analysis of the current Ontario provincial government positions arising from the recent release of 2019, Ontario Health and Physical Education curricular document. The 320-page document prompted ancillary queries which asked: What are the multiple literacies and how should these be achieved in Health and Physical Education? What level of multiple literacy should Ontario Physical Educators and students reach for at the elementary level? What are the existing literacy guidelines and orientations impacting Ontario teachers? Multiple literacy is viewed as a priority and necessary for healthy growth and development of teachers, students and the wider community. The ideas, concepts and themes relating to literacy surface in the curriculum analysis, revealing a tacit and broad base of knowledge which constitutes the theoretical underpinning of required literacies. Several are expected and taught, including health, physical, media, financial, and critical literacies.
