The use of modern didactic programs in mathematics in virtual reality (VR) requires approbation, proof of efficiency and environmental friendliness. VR properties: the ability to animate (perform actions with objects), interactivity and immersion in the information space are especially important for the training of future engineers, mathematicians and programmers. However, such programs today are still a poorly understood innovation, causing scientific controversy. The purpose of the presented study is to substantiate the effectiveness of didactic VR programs in teaching university students in technical areas, through determining the level of knowledge gained, the impact on the formation of educational motivation and the level of creativity among students in the study of higher mathematics. The methodological basis of the research was made up of the main provisions of the psychology of virtual reality, virtual ontology (V.A. Barabanshchikov, V.V. Selivanov). The assessment of changes in educational motivation was carried out using the methodology of A.A. Rean and V.A. Yakunin (modified by N.Ts. Badmaeva). Diagnostics of the level of creativity was carried out using the Johnson questionnaire, adapted by E.E. Tunic. As a result, it was shown that the students involved in the work with VR programs, at the level of reliable statistical significance, increase the indicators for the parameters of educational motivation, activity and creativity.

The paper presents the results of a study of reflexive techniques impact on the educational motivation of medical university students. In the context of the implementation of the humanistic paradigm in pedagogy, the role of motivation in educational activity regulation is analyzed. Reflexion is considered by the subjects of pedagogical process as a factor of facilitation of "objectification" of needs in the context of educational activity and construction of its subjective sense. It was found that for ISMA students professional motives are dominant in educational motivation and avoidance motives are the least declared. As a result of a quasi-experiment with two non-randomized groups, the impact of reflexive techniques on educational motivation was assessed. The techniques made it possible to keep the structure of educational motivation unchanged in the experimental group, while in the control group a decrease in professional motives and an increase in communicative motives were found.

The article deals with the creation of unified information-educational environment of an educational institution, requirements to it, the organization of the educational process based on it, as well as all its constituent parts presented in an educational institution. A promising field of research of the problem of information technologies usage in students' learning activities can become the experimental study of the beliefs of students, scientific-pedagogical and pedagogical staff of higher education institutions on e-learning tools and their application in the educational environment. Moreover, it is worthwhile to mention that the problem of effective use of modern ICT disciplines is studied by many professors of higher educational institutions. However, its incorrect usage leads to the substitution of the learning objectives. Nowadays it is possible to reduce the educational process in universities not only by knowledge mastering, but also teaching students to learn and apply their new knowledge and information as effective, as it is possible. Numerous theoretical and practical research characteristics of the information technology in the students’ educational process claim that this approach is a response to students’ social demands and needs, since it contributes to the formation of professional competence of future professionals. One of the most important factors that significantly effects the quality of education is the usage of modern information technologies. Modern graduate students should have special professional tools and solve working problems, using information systems. Thus, the introduction of innovative information technologies in higher educational institutions enables future professionals to expand their potential abilities and encourages active learning.

The article discusses the problem of multi aspect function of the internal nature of a personality, on the one hand, and versatile forms of its manifestation in the personal professional training of students of the Pedagogical Higher Educational Institution, on the other hand. It determines the grounds for research of productive educational activity of a student in the complex of four spheres of personal development. It shows productive generalized educational activity as a form of versatile activities of a student, that includes actualization of personal spheres in the process of the work of productive generalization mechanism, followed by the intensive flow of the processes itself, which as a unity provides its success in achieving professional competence as the ability and readiness for pedagogical activity. The applied aspect of the problem under study can be realized in the pedagogical practice of the professional training of future teachers.

The impact of excessive exposure to electronic devices (ED) on youth health remains understudied. There is a pressing need to develop recommendations for the safe use of stationary and mobile ED aimed at minimizing health risks. In this work, we assess the effect of ED on the physical growth and development of high-school and university students and provide recommendations for preventing the negative impact of prolonged screen time on health. The study recruited 460 high-school and 598 university students. Standard anthropometric measurements were taken. The psychological and emotional state of the participants was evaluated using the Test Anxiety Inventory by Spielberg (modified by Khanin). To estimate daily and weekly exposure to ED the participants were asked to fill out standardized questionnaires. In high school students, the average screen time was 7 h a day; in university students, 8.5 to 10 h a day. Only 60% of the participants, regardless of their place of residence or the type of educational institution they were attending, were physically healthy. We conclude that prolonged and frequent exposure to ED is one of the factors that can interfere with normal physical growth and development in youth. Regular daily use of stationary ED increases the risk of developing body weight deficit by 24% and gaining excess body weight by 10%. We recommend that students should eliminate computers, laptops and stationary ED from their daily activities for at least one day at the weekend and reduce total screen time to 3 hours a day.

The paper aims to assess EFL students’ abilities to master public speaking skills at higher educational levels when applying different teaching approaches: inductive, deductive, and mixed (inductive & deductive) ones. Public speaking samples, namely TED talk videos, were used for observation and inspection during the teaching procedure, accompanied by various public speaking tasks and assessment rubrics that students participated in. The fortyseven video-taped public speaking performances, which were prepared and delivered by the participants, were analyzed and scored with the help of Public Speaking Competence Rubric (PSCR). The speeches were assessed by the researcher and some other expert and non-expert raters, as well as students themselves to maintain objectivity and avoid any kind of bias. Students were all informed about and taught the criteria that the PSCR involves during the studying procedure. The experiment was based on students representing B2 level of English language according to Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and it was carried out at one of the private HEIs in Tbilisi, Georgia. Statistical data were collected through pre, while and postexperimental tests in terms of public speaking performance and later analyzed in the SPSS program. According to the research results, TED Talk video samples have a positive impact on EFL students’ public speaking skills quality when accompanied by mixed (inductive and deductive) methodological teaching approaches. Particularly they improved their gesturing and posture, the majority of them overcame the stage fright (standing and speaking in front of an audience), their speeches became more organized.

PurposeEntrepreneurship education at universities aims to create entrepreneurial thinking and spread the culture of entrepreneurial awareness, skills and attitudes to students to stimulate their entrepreneurship intentions as graduates. This study investigates the impact of entrepreneurship education on innovative start-up intention as well as the mediating role of entrepreneurial mind-sets of university students.Design/methodology/approachStructural equation modeling (SEM) was used for analysis with (n = 204) valid questionnaires collected from university students.FindingsThe main findings show that entrepreneurial mind-sets mediate the relationship between entrepreneurship education and innovative start-up intention.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the body of knowledge by its application in a higher educational institution and enriches the literature with new evidence that entrepreneurship education could enhance innovative start-up intention.

ABSTRACT: This paper presents a description of the executive Master's in Accounting with a concentration in forensic accounting program offered by Florida Atlantic University, an AACSB-accredited higher-educational institution located in southeast Florida. This program—the first of its kind in the United States—provides students with the option of attending lectures in person or via web conferencing. Also discussed is the impact that the model curriculum for fraud examination and forensic accounting has had on the program as well as challenges that have been met in creating and developing an executive graduate program in forensic accounting.
