The results of research on modeling thermodynamic parameters of shock-wave loading of carbides with different stoichiometric ratios are presented. The carbides are considered as a mixture of carbon with the corresponding component. The calculations of pressure, compression and temperature values under shock-wave loading for solid and porous carbides in the range of pressure values above 3 GPa are performed. The model calculations are compared with the known experimental results on the shock-wave loading of carbides with different porosity values. The possibility of modeling the behavior according to the proposed method for carbides for which there are no experimental data at high dynamic loads is shown.

The modified equation of state is proposed for the calculation of thermodynamically equilibrium model TEС2 to improve the reliability of the description of thermodynamic parameters of shock-wave loading of pure materials and heterogeneous mixtures of different porosity. The parameters of the thermally consistent equation of state are determined for copper. A reliable description of the shock-wave loading of copper is obtained for a small number of fitting parameters determined by the experimental data. The thermodynamic parameters for copper of different porosity are modeled, the compression and temperature values along the shock adiabate are determined; the heat capacity value along the normal isobar is calculated. The results of calculations are compared with the known experimental results of different authors.

The article considers the issues of determining the elastic characteristics of a single-component abrasive tool depending on the porosity of the abrasive tool after pressing the abrasive compound studied; the method of determining the modulus of elongation and porosity based on theoretical and experimental data has been used; the dependency graph between the modulus of elongation and porosity, as well as experimental formulas reflecting these dependencies are presented. Based on the experimental and calculated data on the density, porosity and the size of the modulus of elongation, depending on the pressure of the shock wave during pressing and the initial aluminium oxide grains sizes, empirical dependences of elastic characteristics have been determined in order to predict the production of a single-component abrasive tool without a bond with predetermined properties.

Abstract The results of numerical experiments on the modeling of shock wave loading of solid and porous carbides with various stoichiometric compositions are presented. The model is based on the assumption that all the components of the mixture, including gas, have similar pressure, velocity and temperature. The model allows describing the behavior of porous materials and mixes in a wide range of porosity and pressures with precision of experiment. The behavior of complex materials such as carbides is considered as a mixture. The model accurately describes the behavior of the carbides with equal shares of the components of WC, TiC, TaC, NbC and the behavior of boron carbide B4C. Comparison for data of calculation and experimental data was held for carbides with different porosity.
