Abstract: For many years, the electrical power requirements in Automotive Electrical System (AES) have been quickly increasing and are predicted to continue to climb. This trend is being pushed by the introduction of a slew of new vehicle features. The constant growth in power needs is stretching the limitations of current automotive power generation and control technologies, stimulating the development of higher-power and higher-voltage electrical systems and components. Electrical power on a vehicle is not free. It comes as a direct result of consuming fuel within the engine to drive the alternator. With a typical engine efficiency of 44% and with present fuel costs this leads to onboard electrical power costs 4 times more than a typical household utility rate. Global oil and gas resource depletion, as well as environmental concerns, have prompted the automobile industry to build more efficient and eco-friendly cars in order to minimize fuel use and safeguard the environment. In our proposed Automotive Electrical system configuration, we have an AES system which is powered by an automotive alternator and battery combination where the alternator is driven by an IC engine and we have a hybrid energy system using a Rooftop PV array with a battery management system (BMS). We discovered that during the off state, the whole load of the automobile is dependent on the 12Vlead acid battery for power, which causes the SOC to drop dramatically. As a result, the suggested model will include a flexible thin-film solar PV module positioned on the rooftop, which will be supported by a Maximum Power Point (MPPT) Tracking charge controller and will deliver energy to recharge the extra battery and meet the electrical requirements when the vehicle is stationary. When the vehicle is in motion, the existing alternator in the car's electrical system takes over the battery charging requirements, by this way, we can meet the electrical requirements of AES without running the engine for a long time by consuming fuel. The proposed model specialty is investigated using MATLAB/Simulink and compared with existing methods. This research work explains the practical realization of hybrid solar wind-based standalone power system with maximum power point tracker (MPPT) to produce electrical power in rural places (residential applications). The wind inspired Ant Colony Optimization (ACO)-based MPPT algorithm is employed for the purpose of fast and accurate tracking power from wind energy system. Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) inverter controlling strategy is adopted in this presented work compared to classical proportional-integral (PI) control. Moreover, single Cuk converter is operated as impedance power adapter to execute MPPT functioning. Here, ACO-based MPPT has been implemented with no voltage and current extra circuit requirement compared to existing evolutionary algorithms single cuk converter is employed to improve conversion efficiency of converter by maximizing power stages. DC-link voltage can be regulated by placing Cuk converter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) linked rectifier and inverter. The proposed MPPT method is responsible for rapid battery charging and gives power dispersion of battery for hybrid PV-Wind system. ACO-based MPPT provides seven times faster convergence compared to the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for achievement of maximum power point (MPP) and tracking efficiency. Satisfactory practical results have been realized using the dSPACE (DS1104) platform that justify the superiority of proposed algorithms designed under various operating situations.

Due to its clean and abundant availability, solar energy is popular as a source from which to generate electricity. Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology converts sunlight incident on the solar PV panel or array directly into non-linear DC electricity. However, the non-linear nature of the solar panels’ power needs to be tracked for its efficient utilization. The problem of non-linearity becomes more prominent when the solar PV array is shaded, even leading to high power losses and concentrated heating in some areas (hotspot condition) of the PV array. Bypass diodes used to eliminate the shading effect cause multiple peaks of power on the power versus voltage (P-V) curve and make the tracking problem quite complex. Conventional algorithms to track the optimal power point cannot search the complete P-V curve and often become trapped in local optima. More recently, metaheuristic algorithms have been employed for maximum power point tracking. Being stochastic, these algorithms explore the complete search area, thereby eliminating any chance of becoming trapped stuck in local optima. This paper proposes a hybridized version of two metaheuristic algorithms, Radial Movement Optimization and teaching-learning based optimization (RMOTLBO). The algorithm has been discussed in detail and applied to multiple shading patterns in a solar PV generation system. It successfully tracks the maximum power point (MPP) in a lesser amount of time and lesser fluctuations.

Solar power is widely available around the globe but efficient transfer of solar power to the load becomes a challenging task. There are various methods in which the power transfer can be done, the following work proposes a method for efficient tracking of solar power.  MPPT [ maximum power point tracking] algorithm applied on three phase voltage source inverter connected to solar PV array with a three phase load. MPPT is applied on inverter rather than conventionally applying MPPT on DC-DC converter. Perturb and Observe method is applied in the MPPT algorithm to find the optimal modulation index for the inverter to transfer maximum power from the panel. Sine pulse width modulation technique is employed for controlling the switching pattern of the inverter. The algorithm is programmed for changing irradiation and temperature condition. The system does not oscillate about the MPP point as the algorithm set the system at MPP and does not vary till a variation in irradiation is sensed.  The proposed system can be installed at all places and will reduce the cost, size and losses compared to conventional system.

Hybrid energy system is more reliable than single energy system. This paper deals with high reliable hybrid energy system with solar, wind and micro hydro resources. The proposed hybrid system cable of multi mode operation and high reliable due to non communicated based controllers (Droop Characteristic Control) are used for optimal power sharing.  size of battery can be reduced because hydro used as back up source and Maximum power point Tracking also applied to solar and wind energy systems.</p>
