Abstract Noonan syndrome (NS) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by facial anomalies, short stature, chest deformity, congenital heart diseases, and other comorbidities. The challenges faced during anesthetic management of patients with NS could be due to congenital heart diseases, hemostatic disorders, and airway anomalies. Here we describe dental treatment under general anesthesia performed for a 28-year-old man with NS. He had characteristic features of NS along with mild pulmonary valve stenosis. Dental treatment under general anesthesia was performed successfully on 13 occasions with nasotracheal intubation under curve-tipped suction catheter guidance or insertion of a reinforced laryngeal mask airway. This case suggests that for patients with NS, who might present several challenges, dental anesthesiologists should consider the extent of the patient's disorders to enable them to perform dental treatment safely under general anesthesia.

Congenital heart diseases consist of structural defects of the heart and represent serious malformations, which manifest in newborns, contributing significantly to perinatal mortality. The dental management of patients with this condition may require caution by professionals, owing to the possibility of bleeding and the risk of causing an infectious endocarditis due to the variety of microorganisms residing in the oral cavity. The present case report aimed to detail dental care under general anesthesia in a hospital for a child with congenital heart disease. Female patient, 4 years old, was diagnosed with atrial and interventricular communication and hemodynamic repercussion 21 days after birth. The patient received dental treatment according to the proposed plan, which included dental restorations, conservative pulp therapy and extraction of lower anterior teeth. Posteriorly, a removable partial prosthesis was made for the patient for the purpose of functional aesthetic rehabilitation. The use of general anesthesia may reduce the risk of infective endocarditis and allows the performance of several dental procedures with a single antibiotic prophylaxis, since the cardiac pediatric patient needs a correct planning of the procedures to be performed.

: The advancement in corrective surgical procedures and anaesthesia technology has resulted in the increase survival of patients with Congenital Heart Diseases (CHD). Most of the surviving CHD patients have successfully reached adulthood and those surviving adults now outnumber the infants born with the CHD. Unfortunately, the surviving adults with CHD do not get proper care due to either inconsistent follow up or not getting care from a specialist in the field of CHD. It is imperative for general practicing clinicians to be aware of the congenital diseases as well as the current clinical recommendations. This manuscript reviews some of the common congenital diseases seen in adults such as cardiac shunts, left heat obstructive lesions and aortopathies.
