Due to the rapid elevation of technology, teachers are expected to integrate technology into the classroom to engage students considered digital natives. Digital storytelling is an alternative medium for teaching listening skills. This case study investigated students’ and teachers' voices of the implementation of digital storytelling using discovery learning. An in-depth interview, classroom observation, and open-ended questionnaire were applied to explore the implementation of digital storytelling using discovery learning. This case study involved a middle school English teacher and 30 students from a junior high school level in Bali, Indonesia. The qualitative data from students and teachers interviews and observations showed that the students perceived that digital storytelling is more engaging, interesting, and motivating to improve their listening skills. The most challenging activities rested on students' limited vocabulary during the communication stage using Bahasa Indonesia. The pedagogical implication of this study is that EFL teachers need to provide learners with relevant vocabulary to support learners' communication skills during the classroom session during the implementation of digital storytelling. Since learners' limited vocabulary becomes one of the hindering factors in teaching listening, it is recommended for a further researcher to address this issue.

Choosing a major that will be taken up in college can raise doubts and even anxiety for the final year high school students. Various factors trigger this doubt and anxiety, especially for choosing across majors. Crossing-major is the decision to choose a field of science to be pursued in higher education, which is different from the field of study at the high school level. This study was intended to describe the psychological dynamics of students who decided to cross majors. This study used a case study-based qualitative descriptive model. The case study was chosen so that this study obtained more detailed and in-depth data from the participants. The data collection techniques used observation and interviews. The results of the analysis indicate the existence of emotional aspects related to anxiety and doubt experienced by students when choosing a further education major, which is caused by parents, family environmental conditions, and the surrounding environment.

Bullying in rural school settings is clearly a problem and some of our students are suffering as a result.. Bullying is defined in this study of 819 rural middle and high school students as when a student is exposed repeatedly to negative actions by one or more other students. Students responded to a questionnaire about how often and where bullying occurred and who students told. Analysis of the data reported frequencies, and the Pearson chi-square was used to test for significance (p <.05) for gender and school level. Results indicated that while there are many similarities, there are some differences in bullying at these two levels that should be considered when reducing bullying. First, students should be encouraged to develop positive strategies to react to name calling and teasing particularly at the middle school level. Second, administrators and teachers must communicate better with students that they care about reducing bullying, especially at the high school level.

Reflection is essential for learning and development, especially among middle school students. In this paper, we describe how middle school students can engage in reflective learning by composing digital stories in a project-based learning environment employing virtual reality. Adopting multiple case study methods, we examined the digital stories of five students, together with classroom observations and interviews about their experiences, in order to explore how digital storytelling can allowed students to reflect upon their experiences in a year-end capstone program. Creating digital stories allowed students to 1) reflect on their learning experiences teaching younger students with virtual reality, 2) present their reflections in multiple modalities, and 3) make connections between their present experiences and the past and future. This study demonstrates how digital storytelling can enable multimodal reflection for middle school students, particularly within technology-focused project-based learning environments.
The equal symbol has been used in diverse mathematical frameworks, such as arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, set theory, and so on. In mathematical terms, the equal sign has been used in fixed command of standings. The study reports on the students meaning and interpretations of the equal sign. The study involved Grade 6, 7, and 8 students in a secondary school in Alain, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Much of the earlier research done on the equal sign has focused on the primary school level, but this one focuses on middle school students. The study shows that the maximum foremost understanding of the equal sign amongst Grade 6, 7, and 8 students is a do-something, unidirectional symbol. Students realize the equal sign as an instrument for marking the response moderately than as an interpersonal symbol to associate extents.

abstract: Mathematics is a subject that is still considered difficult by some students. This is because, mathematics is always associated with calculations, formulas, and graphics. In addition there is material in mathematics that is abstract. So students must imagine something abstract in order to understand the material. For this reason, students need intermediaries who make it easy to understand something abstract. This intermediary is called learning media. Based on interviews with mathematics teachers at MTs Miftahul Ulum Ngembal and PGRI Tutur Islamic Middle School, the procurement of mathematics learning media is still lacking. The learning media used are worksheets. The appearance of worksheets is not very interesting and only contains a summary of material and questions, making students less motivated to learn worksheets. They study when the test will be held. This causes learning outcomes, especially mathematics is still low, with a KKM value of 6.5. Problems faced by MTs. Miftahul Ulum Ngembal and PGRI Tutur Islamic Middle School are: a) Lack of learning media that attracts students' attention. b) Lack of student learning motivation in learning mathematics, especially Linear Equation of One Variable. c) Student learning outcomes are low, namely with KKM 6.5. d) Lack of student understanding of algebra material, especially the system of linear equations of one variable. This is because this material is material that has just been received at the junior high school level. The solution offered is to provide Mathematics Comic Training for students of PGRI Tutur Islamic Middle School and MTs Mifathul Ulum Ngembal. This training aims to increase student learning motivation which will have an impact on student learning outcomes. This training will be held in 2 meetings so as not to disturb the learning and teaching process. In practice, students will be divided into groups. Each group will be given a mathematical comic that contains material about one variable linear equations and questions related to one variable linear equations.

This research will lead to the target of character education in schools. The target of character education is all schools in Indonesia, especially at the public and private junior high school level, because in junior high school students are not too resistant to teachers, such as high school students, and junior high school children are not too young to get character education materials, such as elementary school children. All school residents, including students, teachers, administrative staff, and school leaders are the targets of this program. Schools that have been successful in carrying out character education well are used as best practices, which serve as examples to be disseminated to other schools.
