It is related leg problems to the realization of the necessity of doing a detailed analysis of the phenotype correlations between body weight and exterior measurements. As a result of the study, lower coefficients have been obtained of the correlation between the girth of the tarso metatarsus on one hand, and the body weight and the girth behind the wings, on the other hand (respectively 0.563 and 0.608), compared with the one between the body weight and the girth behind the wings (0.898). It is advisable in the selection of ostriches to take into consideration the necessity of a higher phenotypic correlation between the girth of the tarso metatarsus on the one hand, and the body weight and the girth behind the wings on the other hand, with a view to preventing leg problems.

This chapter investigates how Christian rituals or ritualizing behaviour supplied resources used by scribes in formulating incantations. On the one hand, elements derived from Christian rituals demonstrate the importance and efficacy of those rituals in generating resources for writers of amulets. On the other hand, variations in how elements derived from Christian rituals are incorporated into amulets reveal that, consciously or not, scribes drew on these resources with some freedom. The chapter discusses connections between acclamations used in Christian worship and in amulets; between the services of morning and evening prayer and the selection of psalms in amulets; between christological acclamations used in rites of exorcism and in amulets; and between the cult of saints and appeals to their intercessions in amulets. The chapter also observes that the traditions on which incantations drew were more diverse than those preserved in the authorized liturgies of the Egyptian church.

This contribution explores a peculiar kind of annotation in Arabic multiple-text manuscripts. These manuscripts were often compiled as a personal ‘one-volume library’, containing copies and excerpts of a unique selection of texts. Further, they were often used for less guided writing activities. The owners left notes, lists and sometimes even sketches in the margins or on blank pages between the texts. Among these, lists of life dates of relatives are a valuable source for studies on domestic devotion. On the one hand, they give glimpses on the composition of households. How many people lived together and who were they? These lists inform us about names regardless of gender. On the other hand, the penning of these list is in itself a trace of a practice intricately tied to the familial and domestic spheres. These lists are usually the only place, in which the memory of those people is preserved.

Abstract The paper evaluates the importance of the French-written Histoire de la littérature tchèque I–III [The History of Czech Literature] (1930–1935) by Hanuš Jelínek (1878–1944), a leading expert and authority on French–Czech cultural relations. His synthetic work destined for French readers and completed outside the modern methodological context of the 1930s draws on Ernest Denis’ concept of Czech literary development as the ‘literature of struggle’ against the German element, while its composition is inspired by Arne Novák’s history written in German, and his expository method follows in the footsteps of his mentor Jaroslav Vlček. Therefore, Jelínek conceives literary development as a continual motion of ideas within an aesthetic form, as a subject-stratified, multi-layered story unified by the central outlook enabling him on the one hand to emphasise the nationally defensive aspect of Czech literature, and, on the other hand, to present it through parallels and illustrative examples within the European perspective. Jelínek’s Histoire, supplemented with a number of his own translations of Czech authors, is a particular narrative–historical genre – the epitome of the young Czech nation’s cultural policy and an archetype of cordial relations between the Czechoslovak and French cultures.

AbstractThis paper examines the factors that play a role in blocking and non-blocking in verb formation in Modern Hebrew. Hebrew verbs are formed in prosodic templates (so-called binyanim) that consist of a vocalic template and affixes in some of them. I address the criteria for the selection of such templates with regard to verb innovation, relation between existing forms and variation of forms. I will show that the selection of a particular binyan is the result of an interaction between markedness and faithfulness constraints on the one hand and thematic-syntactic considerations on the other hand. While certain constraints block the formation of verbs in some binyanim, there are cases of non-crucial ranking of constraints that gives rise to free variation of existing forms.

Da'wah orientation is not centered on the interests of da'I, but the need of mad'u. Mad'u has diverse expectations of da'i ranging from the selection of da'wah methods, material submitted and media used. It thus requires da'i to have internal and external provisions. Internal provision can be the ability to communicate, self-control, and knowledge. The external provision refers to the ability of da'i to read the psychological condition of mad'u and the environment of da'wah. Thus, da'i can determine a wise, empathetic, sympathetic and humanist approach of da'wah. In the principle of communication is known by the rules of dependency relationship. On the one hand da'i has the right to speak and on the other hand mad'u has the right to hear. The right to talk da'i must be accompanied by the obligation to listen to mad'u and the right to hear mad'u should be accompanied by the appreciation of the message of da'i preaching. This study will explore relation credibility of da’i and mad’u needs into reach goal of dakwa descriptive with the "tools" analysis of Jude Burgoon Theory.

The aim of this paper is to present a fragment of Wykład nabożny piosnki „Salve Regina” (A pious interpretation of the song “Salve Regina”), a ca. mid-16th-century manuscript by Jerzy Argiglobyn, in the context of the Reformation by means of a lexical and semantic analysis of the sequative names (Lat. nomina sequativa) and proper names occurring there. The selection of the fragment was determined by the fact that, on the one hand, it is the essence of the discussed manuscript as a polemic work, which arises from the accumulation of references to the Reformation, and on the other hand, this fragment is the most problematic one when it comes to a lexical and semantic analysis. The author of the manuscript, when referring to the Reformation, enumerates the names of the theologians associated with it and mentions the places important to the new faith and the followers of the proliferating Reformation denominations. He provides each piece of such information in a manner presenting it in a negative, at times even insulting, light.

The periodical Roczniki Katolickie, published in the 1920s and 1930s, was part of an anti-modernist project created in European Catholic circles. The information about German literature, which can be found in the magazine, on the one hand, served as a means of reinforcing feelings of belonging to a borderless confessional community and, on the other hand, constituted an element of German-Polish cultural transfer. Analyzing its content helps determine the extent of influence of the forms and aesthetic and literary categories disseminated within the Catholic milieu as well as the transformations of the image of the stereotypical German that was dominant in Poland at that time.

This paper presents a simulation model, which enables the energetic simulation of complex mechatronic powertrains over complete drive cycles. One focus of this work is on reducing the simulation duration to enable the simulation of extended drive cycles on the one hand, and the possibility to optimize drive cycles on the other hand. Furthermore, the program allows the user to assemble an energetically optimized selection of propulsion components.
