<p>Research problem: Digital libraries have invested significant resources digitising and providing access to an increasing number of books. The various approaches taken to visualise digitised books online, has potential to effect the usability and usefulness of the book to the user. Previous usability studies focus on the digital library as a whole, this study narrows the focus to the digitised book. The intention being to identify usability issues and investigate the effects a visualisation approach may have on users.  Methodology: An anonymous survey was conducted, employing the Interaction Triptych Framework (ITF) to frame the relationships between the user and digitised books. Two examples of digitised books from the New Zealand Electronic Text Collection and the Internet Archive were used. Participants from library, archives and history fields, as well as general users, were invited to participate.  Results: 132 participants began the survey, with 86 participants completing all of the required parts. Results suggest a slightly positive attitude towards the usability and usefulness of the examples, with Open Library rated higher for usability and both examples rated similarly for usefulness. Participant comments suggest many users appreciate features analogous to physical books, with regard to aesthetics, learnability and navigation, while for ease of use and reading, rich text appeared to be preferred over digital image based visualisation.  Implications: Digital Libraries need to continually strive to improve the usability and usefulness of digitised books to satisfy their users, further research is suggested creating prototypes and conducting user testing to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between users and digitised books online.</p>

The analysis of pragmatic characteristics of humorous aphorisms in the context of life space. Author's humorous aphorisms of famous writers, poets, historians of the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries and modern humorous aphorisms posted on the Internet; collection of sayings, quotes and aphorisms “Big Book of Wisdom” (edited by Yuri Lavrov). The relevance of the research is determined by the interest in comic universal expressions, network discourse, comical texts. The research results are applicable when compiling a study guide for students or can be used to compile a psychological portrait of the hero of the work. The aim of the present study is to investigate the pragmatic characteristics of humorous aphorisms. It is analyzed that humorous aphorisms of famous writers, poets, historians of the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries and modern humorous aphorisms affect the main aspects of life. Pragmatic characteristics of humorous aphorisms are analyzed. It was found that the humorous aphorisms most vividly reflect the relationship and love between a man and a woman, the intellect of a woman and a man, care of women, the image of a strong, ambitious man, relationships in marriage, feelings (love and happiness), positive attitude (purposefulness, necessity of education), negative attitude (duplicity, laziness, stupidity, slight knowledge, exaggeration of material value), the contrary opinion of an optimist and a pessimist.

Information technology plays a significant role in tourism, but mainly as an informational tool. Ideally, the information search process on the Internet should try to encourage consumers to book and purchase travel services and products prior to leaving for their vacation, but cultural differences in booking on-line are found. The present study research problem is to understand the complex of e-booking and e-purchasing travel behaviors among Slovenes, since no research between Slovene tourists was done before. In details, the relationship between e-booking and paying travel accommodation and travel transportation on the Internet in the period of five years is investigated. The results show slow changes and an increase in booking and buying travel transportation, while booking and paying tourism accommodation gains greater interest during a five-year period.

Purpose – Small to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) are underrepresented in market orientation and internet-related research. Yet, marketing-related issues represent some of the most important problems for SMEs. The purpose of this paper is to explain why SMEs use the internet in business processes and to explore the relationship between market orientation and internet usage. Design/methodology/approach – The study amalgamates the technology acceptance model, the motivation model and the integrated model of technology acceptance into one model. Hypotheses are tested with survey data from Belgian SMEs using partial least squares. Findings – One of the findings is that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are positively significantly related to internet usage intention. No significant relationships were found between behavioural norms and perceived ease of use and between perceived ease of use and the intention to use the internet. Practical implications – Managerial implications include that SME-internet training providers should focus on methods to increase the user’s perceived enjoyment (intrinsic motivation) instead of emphasizing the perceived ease of use of the internet. Originality/value – Researchers as well as practitioners have stressed the gains from implementing market-orientated strategies in firms. Together with the prominence of studies about patterns and characteristics of internet usage, this calls for studies that integrate these two streams of literature. The study shows in what way market orientation is related to the capability to use internet to a firm’s long term advantage. Up till now the relationship between market orientation and internet use has hardly received attention.

We have recently seen a tremendous growth in the volume of online text documents from networked resources such as the Internet, digital libraries, and company-wide intranets. One of the most common and successful methods of organizing such huge amounts of documents is to hierarchically categorize documents according to topic (Agrawal, Bayardo, & Srikant, 2000; Kim & Lee, 2003). The documents indexed according to a hierarchical structure (termed ‘topic hierarchy’ or ‘taxonomy’) are kept in internal categories as well as in leaf categories, in the sense that documents at a lower category have increasing specificity. Through the use of a topic hierarchy, users can quickly navigate to any portion of a document collection without being overwhelmed by a large document space. As is evident from the popularity of Web directories such as Yahoo (http://www.yahoo.com/) and Open Directory Project (http://dmoz.org/), topic hierarchies have increased in importance as a tool for organizing or browsing a large volume of electronic text documents.

The modern development of information technology provides the opportunity to use them in many areas of life, which also include medicine and pharmacy. The introduction of technologies such as an electronic prescription system, drug labeling, creates the prereq-uisites for the remote provision of services. Recently, legislative changes have legalized the distance trad-ing of OTC drugs. In this regard, soon the supply chain of the drug to the end user may include a mini-mum number of professionals. Thus, in these condi-tions, the role of information that users can receive via the Internet is significantly increasing. Such a term as the "usability" of the site, or its ease of use, appeared back in 1998 and every year is of increasing importance. In relation to online pharmacies, the usa-bility assessment is especially relevant in terms of both general functionality, which is typical for all services selling products via the Internet, and features specific to Internet pharmacies only. On May 8, 2020, an anal-ysis of the "usability" of 20 sites of pharmacy organi-zations was conducted. Some advantages were high-lighted (putting information on the quality of goods (declarations, certificates), warnings, contraindica-tions and storage conditions in a separate block), as well as disadvantages (some clutter of the site with elements, the presence of blank pages and a fuzzy warning about prescription drugs).

This article discusses the predictors of Ghanaian cocoa producers’ intention to continue adopting a recommended cocoa beanfermentation technology in the future. The analyses is carried out within the framework of the theory of planned behaviour.Three hundred and twenty-one cocoa producers were interviewed. Consistent with literature, attitudes, subjective norms andpast behaviour were significant predictors of fermentation intentions. Positive attitude relate to beliefs about ease of use oftechnologies and existence of non-financial rewards. Negative attitudes relate to lack of direct financial rewards. PurchasingClerks, Chief Farmers and society at large were found to be the salient social referents who shape producers’ fermentationintentions. Recommendations included improving implementation of current producer incentive regimes, promoting trust betweenproducers and purchasing clerks and strengthening producer association to increase the sphere of influence of the Chief Farmers.
