Unfortunately, not always the desire of students to speak and know the language coincides with their abilities to it. Language is easy for some, difficult for others. Some of the students quickly memorize words, someone learns to read faster, someone is easier to imitate foreign speech. Thanks to psychology, it has become easier to explain some of the difficulties that arise in the process of teaching children, in relations with them, as well as in the problem of learning foreign languages. There is a connection between the student’s temperament, the peculiarities of his perception, attention and memory, and the difficulties he has in learning a foreign language. It is assumed that students with the phlegmatic and melancholic temperament have the greatest difficulty in learning a foreign language. Foreign language as an academic discipline is very different from other subjects of the school curriculum, and thus, obviously, students have some difficulties in studying this subject.

The article touches upon the problems of teaching English as a third foreign language in higher educational institutions of the Republic of Armenia. The students’ mother tongue, in this case, is Armenian. Russian is the first foreign language and French is the second one. Considering the fact that the students’ 2nd (French) and 3rd (English) foreign languages have significant similarities that can cause both positive transfer and negative interference, the teaching/learning process of English should be organized by paying special attention to the similarities and taking into account certain peculiarities. Accordingly, the use of correctly selected exercises can help in organizing the teaching/learning process more quickly and effectively. The author also introduces some “dangerous” language phenomena that may bring about undesirable interference in learning English after French. In addition, a number of exercise samples are provided that might be used to develop the students’ lexical, grammatical and phonological competences in teaching/learning English as a third foreign language.

The improvement in learning English is based on how students are enthusiastic about the subject of English. Learning languages, mainly English, is a great need, even for our primary students who have the responsibility to develop in the globalized world (Muñoz, 2002). These traits are the critical parts of one’s personality because they make him unique, and what psychologists have desired to study and measure in the process of learning English as the foreign or second language. Indeed, the variations between individuals, their learning situations and the contexts where they learn are some features that can illustrate the complexity of learning a foreign language. Conversely, in research on the acquisition of foreign languages, it is essential to consider the differences between individuals, their different ways of learning styles and the environment where they are involved.

The article analyzes the necessity of forming the motivation of students of economic faculties to carry out scientific research. The significance of the students’ scientific work for the growth of their creativity, self-realization, the formation of creative critical thinking and the development of individual abilities in solving practical problems, identifying the initiative, expanding the theoretical world outlook and scientific erudition, and the conscious use of theoretical knowledge in future practical activities is proved by numerous studies of modern scholars. However, the motivation of students to perform research remains very low. This, according to the author, is conditioned by the lack of students' needs for such activities, their lack of awareness of the importance of this activity for their professional training and professional self-determination. In particular, conducting research using foreign-language original scientific sources with further presenting the results in a foreign language is a rather complex activity for many students who do not major in foreign languages. In order to form the internal motivation of students for scientific research, the author recommends a number of approaches to organizing a learning process in a foreign language aimed at forming a culture of foreign language broadcasting the formation of students' reflective culture; forming student research culture to interactively interact in the process of performing problem-oriented professional tasks of creating public speaking skills.
