The article gives biographical background and a brief outline of the research carried out by the Doctor of Biological Sciences A.A. Tanasienko, who for more than 10 years worked as Deputy Director for Research in the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The article presents some biographical data and brief description of research activity of Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences Victor Petrovich Panfilov, an organizer and the first head of the laboratory of soil physics of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who significantly contributed into fundamental and applied studies of soil physical and meliorative properties and regimes in Siberia.

On October 26, 2021, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeevich Isaev would have turned 90. A. S. Isaev was doctor of biological sciences, professor, member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, director of V. N. Sukachev Institute of Forest Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences USSR (1977–1988), chairman of USSR State Committee of Forestry (1988–1991), creator and the first director of CEPF RAS (1991–2004), scientific advisor of CEPF RAS (2004–2018), chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on forests (until 2018), editor-in-chief «Russian Journal of Forest Science» (1980–2018).

The academic potential of the Kuban State Medical University has been formed as a result of close interaction between university and academic science. Such collaboration encourages the development of highly qualifi ed academic and teaching staff, increases the importance of conducting fundamental studies and forms an information basis for boosting research and educational processes in the university. Over a century, academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) have contributed to the development of the Kuban State Medical University by taking part in fundamental research projects and creating scientifi c schools. The Kuban State Medical University has received ongoing intellectual support from representatives of academic science both in the formation of long-term developmental strategies and implementation of individual scientifi c projects. The collaboration between RAS and the university has been carried out under different socio-economic and political conditions. The Kuban State Medical University will continue implementation of fundamental research projects in close interaction with the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) in the foreseeable future. This article presents a brief biography of 15 RAS academicians and corresponding members having made a signifi cant contribution to the development of the Kuban State Medical University, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
