Phenomenological Case Study

The emerging trend of the use of LMS (Learning Management System) in higher educational institutes is improving the teaching-learning process. The purpose of this research was to find out the perspectives of teachers towards the use of LMS. The phenomenological case study approach was the focus of this study. All the teachers who were involved in course, section, and teachers allocations in LMS were taken as the participants of the study. The sample was selected by purposeful and convenient sampling techniques. Six teachers gave interviews, while 12 teachers filled the open-ended questionnaire from three campuses of the University of Education, Lahore. Thematic analysis of data indicated that there were four main categories of faculty perceptions towards using the Learning Management System. These were advantages, disadvantages, features, and problems faced by teachers in LMS. The researchers recommended intensive training of university faculty and students in the employment of the LMS.

Η παρούσα εργασία μελετάει την εισαγωγή του μαθήματος «Φυσικές Επιστήμες στην Προσχολική Εκπαίδευση» στο σύστημα διαχείρισης μάθησης e-class της Σχολής Επιστημών Αγωγής του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης. Στις μέρες μας, όλα σχεδόν τα εκπαιδευτικά ιδρύματα τριτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης επιχειρούν να ικανοποιήσουν τη γενικότερη απαίτηση για εξ αποστάσεως εκπαίδευση (εξΑΕ) αν και η ποιότητά της συχνά ποικίλλει. Ένα από τα πιο ουσιαστικά θέματα σχεδιασμού εκπαιδευτικών περιβαλλόντων εξΑΕ αποτελεί η διασφάλιση της ποιότητας μάθησης. Πολλά εξ αποστάσεως συστήματα σύγχρονης ή ασύγχρονης τηλεκπαίδευσης αλλά και μαθήματα που προσφέρονται μέσω αυτών των συστημάτων εστιάζουν την προσοχή τους στην παρουσίαση μονάχα του περιεχομένου, παρέχοντας ελάχιστες ευκαιρίες για αλληλεπίδραση και ενεργητική μάθηση. Η εξΑΕ απαιτεί σίγουρα καινοτόμες μορφές διδασκαλίας, καθώς σ’ ένα εικονικό περιβάλλον εκπαίδευσης δίνεται ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στη συμμετοχή, συνεργασία και ενίσχυση του διδασκόμενου σε μια διαδικασία συνεχούς αλληλεπίδρασης με το διδάσκοντα και με το περιβάλλον μάθησης. Οι ποικίλες εφαρμογές της εξΑΕ σε διαφορετικές εκπαιδευτικές βαθμίδες ταυτόχρονα με την ελευθερία επιλογών κυρίως στα μέσα μεταφοράς της πληροφορίας και επικοινωνίας, της προσδίδουν το χαρακτήρα της πολυμορφικότητας και ευελιξίας. Η μετάβαση από την παραδοσιακή στη διαδικτυακή διδασκαλία και μάθηση έχει δημιουργήσει επιπρόσθετα καθήκοντα, παιδαγωγικές ανάγκες και νέους ρόλους για εκπαιδευτικούς και φοιτητές/-τριες.

In this study, we interrogate the Learning Cultures of Peace Leadership and Conflict Resolution Postgraduate learners in their quest for higher education within the University of Zambia using the Learning Management System. The thrust of the study is on learning cultures of digital immigrants in technologically mediated postgraduate distance learning mode to inform the development of learner responsive services. The study rides on Hermeneutics Phenomenology approach to elicit lived experiences of seventeen (17) purposively selected year two students. The study approach is well suited as it empowers Digital immigrants to voice out their lived realities while following the digital mediated Masters of Science in Peace Leadership and Conflict Resolution Programme to forge best ways of harnessing their learning opportunities. The findings reveal that whereas learners have migrated to the Learning Management System, their learning culture is profoundly still in the print age as they keep on requesting for print based educational resources. Secondly, there is limited interactivity among learners and between learners and their learning facilitators, negating the very essence upon which the Learning Management System has been created. This state of affairs has had a bearing on their motivation to engage effectively in the actual learning process as informed by Moore’s theory of Interactivity and Siemens’ theory of Connectivism. To this end, the study recommends that learners are effectively oriented in the use of digital resources to empower them as they exploit the available educational opportunities. Additionally, there is need to strengthen capacity building mechanisms in order to bridge the gap between the learners and the learning facilitators.

This study aims to analyze and understand the learning management system in learning effectively through a seamless learning approach at Islamic Elementary School Nurul Anwar. This research uses a qualitative case study approach. The data collection technique is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. At the same time, the data analysis was carried out through the stages of data display, data reduction, and concluding. The results of the study indicate that learning system management through a seamless learning approach at SD Islam Nurul Anwar in making learning effective is carried out; 1) User-friendly, 2) User Interface, 3) Parental involvement, 4) learning with an online learning system, outside the network (luring), and mobile teachers (guling). This research has implications for the importance of teachers in utilizing various existing and available resources to make their learning effective as optimally as possible.

Pandemi COVID-19 menuntut sektor pendidikan untuk melakukan berbagai perubahan maupun inovasi dan adaptasi demi pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran tetap berjalan baik. Pandemi COVID-19 mendorong sektor pendidikan terutama perguruan tinggi untuk melakukan perubahan pada model proses pembelajaran dimana proses pembelajaran berpindah dari pembelajaran konvensional atau tatap muka di kelas menjadi pembelajaran online atau daring. Dengan demikian, tenaga pengajar yaitu dosen dan mahasiswa harus siap beradaptasi dan menghadapi terobosan maupun tantangan baru terhadap perubahan sistem dalam  pembelajaran yang diterapkan perguruan tinggi. Learning Management System (LMS) adalah salah satu cara yang digunakan oleh perguruan tinggi untuk mendukung dan mengelola pembelajaran secara online agar proses belajar mengajar tetap berjalan dengan baik selama pandemic COVID-19. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode semi deskriptif   kuantitatif. Dimana tujuan  dalam  penelitian ini adalah untuk  menjelaskan pemanfaatan Learning Management System sebagai media pembelajaran online yang digunakan selama pandemic COVID-19. Aplikasi Learning Management System seperti Google Classroom, Edmodo, Moodle, serta SEVIMA Edlink dan LMS yang dikembangkan oleh perguruan tinggi maupun yang disediakan oleh pemerintah sangat bermanfaat sebagai media pembelajaran online atau daring selama pandemi COVID-19. Dimana dengan aplikasi LMS ini, sistem pembelajaran dan komunikasi tetap berjalan dengan baik dengan memanfaatkan fasilitas yang tersedia dalam aplikasi LMS tersebut.   Kata kunci: komponen; Learning Mangement System, Pembelajaran Online, COVID-19   Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic requires the education sector to make various changes and innovations and adaptations for the implementation of the learning process to continue. The COVID-19 pandemic encouraged the education sector, especially universities, to make changes to the learning process model where the learning process moves from conventional or face-to-face learning in the classroom to online or online learning. Thus, faculty, lecturers and students must be ready to adapt and face breakthroughs and new challenges to the system changes in learning implemented by universities. Learning Management System (LMS) is one of the ways used by universities to support and manage online learning so that the teaching learning process continues well during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method used in this study is a semi-descriptive quantitative method. Where the purpose in this study is to explain the utilization of Learning Management System as an online learning medium used during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning Management System applications such as Google Classroom, Edmodo, Moodle, and SEVIMA Edlink and LMS developed by universities as well as provided by the government are very useful as online or online learning media during the COVID-19 pandemic. Where with this LMS application, the learning and communication system continues to run properly by utilizing the facilities available in the LMS application.   Keywords: Learning Mangement System, Online Learning, COVID-19

The phenomenon of Coronavirus Disease 2019 forced the education system in Indonesia to be run online. The descriptive qualitative method was usedin this research to investigate some cases faced by the Fourth Semester Students of the English Department, Nusa Cendana University toward online learning in Cross-Cultural Communication Lecture. It was conducted to answer students’ perceptions, solutions, and expectations in joining online lectures for the last three months in the Even Semester of Academic Year 2019-2020. To collect the data, and a non-facial interview technique was applied through some online Learning Management System; e-learning by Nusa Cendana University and Google Classroom. The data were analyzed by categorizing the students’ answers. The result of this study showed that11.43% were ready for online lectures, while those who prefer regular classes were 82.86%.Only 27.14% could meet the needs of online lectures since they had available mobile data, while 47.14% frankly stated having mobile data problem. It can be concluded that there were some changes in learning culture that forced students to deal with online teaching-learning activities. Undeniable, it was not easy to organize except well prepared from the very first beginning of class by having Course Contract which only needed to be changed into an online form. Yet, their expectations for universities and government to increase Learning Management System and subsidies for the needs of mobile data bundle (for teachers, lecturers, and students).
