Two echelon cold supply chain model is developed in which warehouse and retailer are the two main actors of supply chain. The model is based on energy consumption cost for chiller system and the stochastic lead time. To incorporate the quality degradation, global stability index (GSI) method is used. The objective is to analyze the effect of retailer’s storage temperature and nutritional index weightage on the total cost of supply chain. A breakdown structure of all the associated costs is developed to formulate the total cost of cold chain. A numerical example is used for better understanding. To find the optimal solution, the model is numerically solved by using matlab genetic algorithm. The sensitivity analysis is being performed to study the model behavior against different parameters. Keywords: Cold chain, echelon valuation, quality degradation, global stability index, stochastic lead time

This report examines the supply chain strategies for a specific perishable product, or fresh produce and uses green beans as an example. The quality of the products which are in direct correlation with the value of the product are put into the supply chain model, this type of model is also known as “cold chain”. This report in addition to recent researches in cold chain, looks into multi aspect quality degradation and a stochastic lead time from warehouse to retailer. This model developed creates greater insight into the supply chain strategies of such products.

This work provides companies in the fresh-cut produce sector with an Ascorbate Bluetooth© Analyzer (ABA), a screen-printed sensor-based device for ascorbic acid (AA) detection, for quality control all along the supply chain. The amperometric detection of AA on fresh and fresh-cut parsley, under correct and incorrect storage temperature, allowed us to investigate the kinetics of AA decay in response to oxidative stress. The role of ascorbate oxidase (AOx) and ascorbate peroxidase (APx) was studied. ABA was used in situ by unskilled personnel. Treatments influenced AA decay kinetics, which were linear in fresh parsley, and non-linear in fresh-cut. Two hours at 28 °C immediately after chopping, the resilience of the fresh-cut parsley was reduced, even though the cold chain was restored. Two hours at −2 °C caused a rapid loss of AA until its complete decay after 72 h. Significant differences between treatments were observed in both the expression and activity of AOx and APx. ABA registered sudden changes of parsley AA following unpredicted variations of temperature during processing or transport. It was useful to remedy the effects of unexpected flaws in the cold chain, which can be proposed for quality preservation of different fresh-cut produce.

In this paper, we developed model integrated supply chain model with drop-shipper players.  The aim of the study is to integrate players in the supply chain system that one of its players is a drop shipper. This coordination model considers the policy of late payment and prosecution for delivery of goods. Previous, The author has described the supply chain system in detail. The experiments were conducted into different case scenarios, where each scenario would represent the actual system that occurred. Then also conducted sensitivity analysis on some predicted variables significantly influence the total cost of the supply chain. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that coordination with consideration of delay in payment and penalty contract for drop ship has successfully integrated the players in the supply chain system under study. This can be proved by the lower total cost of the supply chain when it is integrated with that consideration.
