Nowadays, many software applications are used to offer services or functionalities to drivers. Even though, there is a lack of applications that offer drivers the possibility to express their need to generate a specific application in real time. In this research, the authors present an innovative platform that allows users to generate multimedia web applications that use real time vehicle sensor information. The creation of applications is specified through a voice interface to allow users to generate applications while driving. Information used in the applications is collected combining mobile device sensors (accelerometer, GPS, light sensor, barometer, etc.) and vehicle real time On-board Diagnosis port information (speed, engine revolutions per minute, fuel consumption, coolant temperature, throttle, battery voltage, etc.). The domain of generated applications includes driving safety, road state, parameter notifications, social applications, etc. The generated applications can display visual information systems such as maps, audio, video and measurement gauges. For the analysis of this paper, the authors present three prototypes to demonstrate the platform capabilities.

Indonesians parent widely use private school shuttle services for their schoolchild due to their lack of time and effectiveness, unfortunately mostly of those shuttle vehicles (car or motor cycle) services currently cannot be tracked. From a security point of view, the parent’s need a system that can identified the location of the vehicle in real-time. With rapid technological development today, parents' skepticism can be overcome by tracking the shuttle vehicles through a mobile applications that connected to Global Positioning System (GPS). This research presents the design of a prototype, called “AS-OJEK”, an android-based mobile apps and web technology for schoolchild shuttle applications that used several technology such as Web-services, JSON, PHP, MySQL and bootstrap framework as application builders. The application could be installed on any android smartphone version, it will be able to send the location and displaying the vehicle shuttle location on the smartphone screen and display historical location of the tracked vehicle. Rapid Application Development (RAD) framework was used as a software development method, with its 4 phases; phase 1: requirements planning and specifications, phase 2: user design, phase 3: construction, phase 4: cutover. The application was already appropriate with user’s needs, proven by performing functional testing and User Acceptance Test (UAT). Based on the results of the UAT, this application has been running well and succeed sending vehicle location to the server, and can tracked through mobile-apps or web applications.

While web applications continue to employ traditional client-server model, most of the current applications demand real time bi-directional communication. In such setups, data exchanges between both the parties (client and server) are very frequent. Thus, performance of the network is subject to various factors decided by the choice of data exchange mechanism. This shows that the choice of data exchange mechanism is vital to performance of a web-application employing it. This paper compares various data exchange mechanisms with respect to factors affecting real time web applications. While the absolute values of benchmarking may vary with the systems, the relative difference between them can be used as a reference for selecting a mechanism for an application. Hence, this paper can be used as a reference to choose appropriate data exchange mechanism for the concerned application.

Large file uploading is a problem often occurs in Web applications. Existing uploading components does not support Resume-broken-transfer while most of them cannot display uploading progress, also Cross-platform compatibility is not very well. This paper adopts Fragments-access, Asynchronous-uploading strategy, implements large file Resume-broken-transfer using ADODB.Stream and XMLHttp, obtains higher rates of transmission and real-time display of uploading progress and good Cross-platform compatibility, meets the large file uploading needs in web applications.
