The aim of this study is to investigate the applicability of automatic plasma arc welding (PAW) to cryogenic materials used in liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel storage tanks based on experimental data. The mechanical properties of the materials were tested at room and cryogenic temperatures to investigate the fatigue and fracture performances of weld joints made by PAW. In addition, the influence of welding parameters on the welded joints such as material types and temperature were considered in this experimental study. Based on the results obtained by this experimental study, it was observed that the experimental results of all materials at room and cryogenic temperatures satisfied all the requirements of each mechanical test. Finally, we propose the experimental results of PAW that can be used in the structural design of LNG fuel storage tank applications.

Abstract. The stone bracelet is a neolithic artifact crafted by drilling techniques. Traces of stone bracelet workshop activities in Central Java were found in Purbalingga, which is spread across the North Serayu Mountains between Kali Tungtunggunung and Kali Laban. This study is based on the previous research hypothesis, which states that the manufacture of stone bracelets is carried out by drilling techniques using bamboo wulung (Gigantochloa atroviolacea). This study aims to prove this hypothesis. An experimental archaeological approach by conducting drilling experiments using several drill bits: iron drills, masonry/concrete iron drills, iron drills for natural stone, and bamboo drills. Meanwhile, the abrasive materials used are water, river sand, and quartz sand. The analysis was carried out by comparing the morphological and morphometric traces of the workings between artifacts and experimental results, based on microscopic observations with a magnification of 20x to 200x. Compared to the other drilling bits and abrasive materials, the experimental study revealed that bamboo drill bits, with quartz-sand and water as additional gritty material, showed the closest similarity.

To prevent the contamination of the marine environment caused by ship exhaust gas, the demand for LNG (liquefied natural gas) fueled ships is increasing worldwide. A tank to store LNG at cryogenic temperatures is indispensable to such LNG-fueled ships. Since the materials used for LNG fuel propulsion tanks must have excellent mechanical properties such as impact toughness at cryogenic temperatures, the International Maritime Organization limits the IGC Code only to four types. Most of the tank materials for LNG-fueled ships ordered recently are adopting ASTM A553-1 material, but a systematic study to analyze the problem of quality degradation that may occur when welding A553-1 steel is required to secure the safety of cryogenic tanks. Therefore, in this study, among various quality problems, the tendency of weld solidification crack vulnerability is identified, and a decision system and optimization procedure are developed. In addition, a method of securing the welding quality of A553-1 steel was proposed by setting quality deterioration standards.

This experimental study aims to analyse the effectiveness of various materials used in demineralisation of dental enamel. This work aims to create a mechanical bond by filling the pegs with sealing material. In order to achieve this goal, five teeth were compared using different concentrations of orthophosphoric acid and exposure times. In this regard, five different tests were performed and the results were analysed using the SEM technique (scanning electron microscopy). These comparative analyses revealed that etching using 35% orthophosphoric acid for one minute and etching using Icon Etch for two minutes were the most effective.

Microjoining technologies are crucial for producing reliable electrical connections in modern microelectronic and optoelectronic devices, as well as for the assembly of electronic circuits, sensors, and batteries. However, the production of miniature sensors presents particular difficulties, due to their non-standard designs, unique functionality and applications in various environments. One of the main challenges relates to the fact that common methods such as reflow soldering or wave soldering cannot be applied to making joints to the materials used for the sensing layers (oxides, polymers, graphene, metallic layers) or to the thin metallic layers that act as contact pads. This problem applies especially to sensors designed to work at cryogenic temperatures. In this paper, we demonstrate a new method for the dynamic soldering of outer leads in the form of metallic strips made from thin metallic layers on ceramic substrates. These leads can be used as contact pads in sensors working in a wide temperature range. The joints produced using our method show excellent electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties in the temperature range of 15–300 K.

Abstract. This work measured $ \mathrm{d}\sigma/\mathrm{d}\Omega$dσ/dΩ for neutral kaon photoproduction reactions from threshold up to a c.m. energy of 1855MeV, focussing specifically on the $ \gamma p\rightarrow K^0\Sigma^+$γp→K0Σ+, $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0\Lambda$γn→K0Λ, and $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0 \Sigma^0$γn→K0Σ0 reactions. Our results for $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0 \Sigma^0$γn→K0Σ0 are the first-ever measurements for that reaction. These data will provide insight into the properties of $ N^{\ast}$N* resonances and, in particular, will lead to an improved knowledge about those states that couple only weakly to the $ \pi N$πN channel. Integrated cross sections were extracted by fitting the differential cross sections for each reaction as a series of Legendre polynomials and our results are compared with prior experimental results and theoretical predictions.

AbstractThis paper presents simulation calculations and experimental measurements to determine the dynamic load factor (DLF) of train on the urban railway in Vietnam. Simulation calculations are performed by SIMPACK software. Dynamic measurement experiments were conducted on Cat Linh – Ha Dong line. The simulation and experimental results provide the DLF values with the largest difference of 2.46% when the train speed varies from 0 km/h to 80 km/h
