This study explores the relationship between Internet Marketing Orientation, Market Orientation, Learning Orientation, Innovation Capabilities and Performance. The study also investigates the role of Internet Marketing Orientation integration in the linkage between Market Orientation-Innovativeness and Learning Orientation-Innovativeness. From an analysis of usable survey data from 101 Bumiputera SMEs-Exporters, three dimensions of Market Orientation (Customer Focus, Inter-Functional Coordination, Information Dissemination), two dimensions of Learning Orientation (Shared Knowledge, and Vision and Commitment to Learning), one dimension of Internet Marketing Orientation and one dimension of Innovation Capabilities and Performance are extracted from the factor analysis results. The results of regression analysis show that Customer Focus, Shared Knowledge and Vision, and Internet Marketing Orientation directly influenced SMEs’ Innovation Capabilities. However, Internet Marketing Orientation is more influential in developing innovation capabilities among SMEs compared to others. While, Shared Knowledge and Vision is the crucial factor in enhancing the business performance among SME (exporters). The relationship among a firm's Internet Marketing Orientation, Learning Orientation, Market Orientation and Innovation Capabilities and Performance are considered a crucial research area in developing countries. The implications for Malaysian SMEs are discussed.

Purpose This paper aims to contribute industrial marketing literature by examining the relationship between market orientation and performance based on multiple perspectives and measures. Although the relationship between market orientation and firm performance has been examined in prior research a gap in the literature exists, as this relationship has not been examined from separate perspectives of managers, salespersons and customers. In addition to this gap in the literature, a further gap exists as these multiple assessments of market orientation have not been examined relative to both subjective and objectives measures of industrial firm performance. Design/methodology/approach The research is based on data obtained from 111 sales branches of a Fortune 500 industrial supplier. Findings The results indicate that managers, salespersons and customers all indicate a positive relationship between market orientation and perceived performance. Market orientation and actual branch performance were not related when assessed by any of the three respondent groups. Only salespersons were able to significantly relate perceived firm performance to actual performance. Research limitations/implications These findings add a new dimensions to the existing stream of literature on the industrial marketing orientation and performance relationship. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of strategic orientation on firm performance mediated by social media orientation at MSMEs. Strategic orientation includes market orientation, entrepreneurial orientation, technological orientation, and learning orientation. The design used in this research is hypothesis testing by using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The respondent population of this research is all owners or managers of MSMEs located in DKI Jakarta area and have been running their business for at least 2 (two) years, and have used social media in their business. This study used a sample of respondents. The sampling was done by using non-probability sampling technique with purposive sampling method with 321 respondents. The results of this study show that only learning orientation has a direct effect on firm performance, while for market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation requires mediation role from social media orientation, and for technological orientation either directly or after mediation by social media orientation still has no effect significant to firm performance. The variable that has the greatest influence on firm performance after mediated by social media orientation is the entrepreneurial orientation. The results of this study provide insight for MSMEs practitioners, in order to use their strategic activities to increase the use of social media so as to improve the firm performance. This study has limitations, including not detailing the construct dimension of social media orientation into two dimensions of visibility and Sales and business development, and the sample of respondents from this study is only the perpetrators of MSMEs located in the area of DKI Jakarta. This can be a suggestion for further research. The model proposed in this study is to add the role of social media orientation as a mediation variable in the relationship between strategic orientation with firm performance.

This paper focuses on a particular form of protest that emerges in what this paper calls an 'agonistic environment'. It defines the latter as a form of contentious politics within deliberative democracies in which concurrence rather than estrangement is more likely to define the relationship between citizens and the state. It then asks what is the nature of conflict in such environments, and will activism in the settings be more or less likely to generate change. Finally, it considers whether protest in agonistic environments produces a form of shared knowledge among parties to the conflict, particularly with respect to the possibility of change and how best to achieve it? In exploring these questions, the paper focuses on the political dynamics in Israel associated with the wave of African asylum seekers who arrived from 2010 to 2012, most of whom originated from Eritrea and Sudan. Using a quantitative approach, the paper analyses this agonistic environment focusing on two dimensions: (a) protest events; and (b) state policy and juridical decisions as well as legal initiatives aimed at challenging state policy and relevant court decisions. By highlighting the scalar mismatch between protests focused on delimited urban spaces and responses of authorities at the scale of the nation – in this case, legal rulings – the paper further advances our understanding of agonistic conflict and how it produces change.

The objective of this exploratory study was to examine the relationship between well-being, rootedness and emigration plans (EP) among university students in Slovakia and Bulgaria. It also explored the mediation effect of rootedness in the relationship between well-being and EP. The data were collected throughan online survey (SLiCE 2016). The research sample consisted of 361 university students (M=22.4 years, SD=3.8) from Slovakia (141, 86.5% female) and Bulgaria (220, 69.1% female). Based on their emigration plans, the respondentswere dividedinto two groups;those who do not plan to leave (n=218, 60.4%) and those who plan to leave in the long term (n=143, 39.6%) after they finish university. ForSlovakia, all factors were significantly related toEP. Furthermore, the association between well-being and EP was fully mediated by two dimensions of rootedness with different psychological mechanisms. For Bulgaria, only well-being and onedimension of rootedness,desire for change,were significantly related to EP. It was also found that the association between well-being and EP was partially mediated by only one dimension of rootedness –desire for change. This study highlightsthat rootedness hasa different relationship with other examined factorsin different countries and also that it is necessary to respect the cultural and socio-economic featuresof acountry.

Purpose: this paper aims to examine the mediating effect of absorptive capacity on the the relation between two construct: learning orientation (LO) and market orientation (MO) and organizational performance (OP).Design/methodology/approach: data were gathered through field survey of 190 senior managers in manufacturing organizations in Jordan. The analysis was conducted using two-stage least squares estimators for latent variable models.Findings: Results indicate that learning orientation, market orientation and absorptive capacity all have a positive and significant effect on organizational performance. Moreover, results suggest that absorptive capacity partially mediates the relationship between learning orientation and organizational performance. This study concludes that while knowledge acquisition and values of external knowledge are important, related prior knowledge, basic skills and research and development (R&D) (absorptive capacity) are important as well. Practical implications: For managers in manufacturing organizations, the study proposes that organizations should focus on attaining high levels of Learning orientation and market orientation while also giving attention to building internal knowledge and basic skills including R&D. Originality/value: This paper is the first to examine the mediating effect of absorptive capacity on the relationship between learning orientation, market orientation and organizational performance.

This research aimed at examining the chain of effects of organisational culture and human resource practices towards SMEs’ creativity and performance. The study contributes to the literature by giving explanations related to how human resource practices, market and learning orientations affect the creativity and performance of SMEs. Population in this research was all SMEs producing handicraft, food / beverage and others in Mataram-Indonesia. Sample firms were selected using purposive sampling. The results showed that organizational culture, namely market orientation and learning orientation affect creativity and business performance in different ways. Learning orientation does not have a strong effect on creativity but has a direct effect on business performance. Meanwhile market orientation and human resource practices have no direct effect on business performance but through their influence on creativity. Market orientation and human resource practices ensure high business performance through its influence on creativity improvement. Market orientation becomes a source of creative ideas as its dimensions provide opportunities for SMEs to find useful ideas. Furthermore, human resource practices maintain / motivate employees for continuous creative endeavors, faster and better than to competitors. This creates higher customer value, stronger competitive advantage and greater guarantees business success /business performance.Penelitian ini menguji pengaruh berantai dari budaya organisasi dan human resource practices terhadap kreatifitas dan kinerja usaha UMKM. Studi ini berkontribusi pada literature dengan memberikan penjelasan terkait bagaimana human resource practices, market dan learning orientations mempengaruhi kreatifitas dan kinerja usaha UMKM. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua UMKM dibidang usaha pengolahan baik kerajinan maupun makanan/minuman dan lainnya. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling dari teknik sampling Non-Probability Sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budaya organisasi, yaitu market orientation dan learning orientation mempengaruhi kreatifitas dan kinerja usaha dengan cara yang berbeda. Learning orientation tidak berpengaruh kuat terhadap kreatifitas tetapi berpengaruh langsung terhadap kinerja usaha. Sedangkan market orientation memiliki pengaruh yang sama dengan human resource practices, yaitu tidak berpengaruh langsung terhadap kinerja usaha tetapi melalui pengaruhnya terhadap kreatifitas. Market orientation dan human resource practices menjamin kinerja usaha yang tinggi melalui pengaruhnya terhadap peningkatan kreatifitas. Market orientation menjadi sumber inspirasi ide-ide kreatif karena adanya orientasi kepada konsumen dan pesaing memberikan peluang bagi UMKM untuk menemukan ide. Selanjutnya, human resource practices menguatkan motivasi karyawan untuk berkreasi secara berkelanjutan, lebih cepat dan lebih unggul dari pesaing. Servitization has significant implications for the sustainable development of manufacturing, the economy, and the environment. However, it does not always produce returns as the firms expect, which may discourage them from engaging in this transition. In this study, we examine the facilitating effects of two dimensions of strategic orientation (i.e., technology and market orientation) on two types of servitization (i.e., basic and advanced service provision), and further investigate the performance impacts of these servitization types contingent on firm size. By conducting an empirical study, using survey data comprising 210 samples, we confirm that both technology and market orientation are positively related to basic and advanced service provision. Moreover, while they have equal effects on basic services, market orientation is more important than technology orientation for providing advanced services. We also find that, for basic services, these two strategic orientations function independently, whereas they reinforce each other in the provision of advanced services. Finally, the relationship between servitization and firm performance is contingent on the size of the firm. Our results show that small firms can benefit from providing basic services, rather than advanced services, while only advanced services can improve the performance of large firms further.

The key of successes by service providers can be found in their market-orientation. These are organizations which pay more attention to customers and rivals and attempt to provide services with the highest quality. Present paper has studied experimentally the relationship between market-orientation and performance of agencies and brokers of Asia Insurance Company in Kerman province. Here, the scale of market-orientation in service sector is applied. The methodology is field study and the tool to gather information is questionnaire. Factors analysis shows that there are four hidden aspects in the title of market-orientation: customer-orientation, rival-orientation, organizational responsiveness, propensity to customer satisfaction. Findings suggest that customer–orientation and propensity to customer satisfaction have remarkable impacts on performance relative to other aspects. Rival-orientation has lower impact on performance and organizational responsive has an inconsistency relationship with performance.
