The aim of the article is to study the relationship between vocational training costs and economic benefits at different levels of economic relations. In the structure of labour costs in the EU, there was the highest share of vocational training costs in Ireland (2.79%), Great Britain (2.53%), France (1.51%), which is reflected in the economic success of these countries. A comparison with Ukraine, which has European integration intentions, confirms that the underestimated role of investing in lifelong learning has relevant links to economic performance. This study at the enterprise level (based on the survey of 356 employees) found that higher costs of vocational training are a sign of profitable enterprises. At the same time, employees’ interest in short-term training programs is higher, which they obviously assess from the standpoint of higher personal economic benefits in the short term. At the same time, the analysis performed by means of the Fechner correlation coefficient confirms the existence of a positive impact of vocational training costs on changes in the main macroeconomic benefits indicator – GDP per capita. This allows drawing conclusions about the need to develop professional training programs for staff as one of the drivers of macroeconomic development.

With the concept of Urban Agriculture (UA) growing in popularity, more cities and towns are exploring opportunities to enable the practice and transform neglected spaces into havens for produce. This chapter provides an insight into one such town, Todmorden and its Incredible Edible movement, located in the heart of England. This chapter adopts a qualitative approach to critically exploring the IET movement and to understand its impact on Todmorden. We engaged with key actors and the public in order to ascertain views towards the schemes, analysing the positives and negatives of the model. Findings revealed that the scheme has an overwhelmingly positive impact on the town, with social, environmental and economic benefits. Furthermore, it was made clear that IET is helping to create a more just food movement in Todmorden, particularly through its free for all philosophy. However, some negatives were also highlighted during the course of the research, predominately around maintenance issues and a lack of perceived inclusivity in parts. Overall, the scheme was highly valued and seen as a powerful method for growing the wider UA movement; recommendations centred on further replicating the model and helping local food to prosper in similar locations globally.

Abstract Research background: Economic relations between countries members of the EU and EU candidates are very strong. Germany and France have the leading economies of the EU, are in the top ten economies worldwide, and drivers of EU development. Serbia has strong economic relations with Germany and France, especially with Germany. Therefore, it is necessary to examine whether Germany and France impact the development of Serbia. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to determine if there is a positive influence of a developed country on a developing country. The aim of the paper is to determine whether there is a long- and short-term positive relationship between Germany and France (EU members) and the Serbian economy (EU candidate). Research methodology: A Vector Error Correction Model is used to analyze quarterly data from 2002Q2 to 2018Q2. Results: The results showed a statistically significant long-term relationship between Germany and France and Serbia’s real GDPs, so EU members have a long-term positive impact on the economy of EU candidates. In the case of the French, there is a short-run positive impact on the Serbian economy. For Germany, it is not the case. Novelty: This paper fills the literature gap about the influence of a developed country on a developing country. Recommendations for policymakers in EU candidates could be that if they want to motivate people to accept the process of access to the EU, they must provide them with more information about long-run economic benefits from the association to the EU.

In this paper, we examine the impact of risk disclosure practices on trade credit. We hypothesize that risk information could reduce information opacity that arises between companies and their suppliers. We collected annual reports for Tunisian listed companies for the period 2008–2013. This gives us 146 firm-year observations. We find that risk disclosure has a positive impact on the level of trade credit. Our paper offers a new empirical evidence on the role of risk disclosure in reducing information asymmetry and increase companies’ access to short-term external funds. Our study provides managerial implications for firms, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.

The purpose of this study is to test the mediating role of attitude on the motivations and constraints for collaborative consumption and to test the impact of perceived hygiene and cleanliness issues and anticipated financial guilt in the collaborative consumption by applying behavioural reasoning theory. A descriptive research design is adopted. Responses collected from 200 responses were subjected to statistical refinement and linear regression. The findings reveal that economic benefits and perceived sustainability demonstrated an insignificant impact on the attitude. However, the institution-based trust showed a positive impact on the attitude. The attitude is a strong mediating variable. Without the attitude, the consumers have no intention. Anticipated financial guilt and perceived hygiene and cleanliness issues have a negative impact on intention, when mediated by the attitude. The study implies that marketers need to build a strong attitude towards the collaborative consumption. Also, they need to target the middle- and higher-income groups with economic appeal. Practitioners must position their products as sustainable. They must build trust by addressing the concerns of the consumers. Practitioners need to increase awareness that they are doing the business taking the utmost care of hygiene.

The article deals with the introduction of performances of theatrical musicals into the educational process of preparing future art teachers on the artistic faculty of the Centralukrainian State Volodymyr Vynnychenko Pedadogic State University. Illuminated positive impact of such an introduction on the quality of professional training of students. The motivational approach to the meaningful responsibility of students for training is revealed when they carry out self-control over the process of acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills and become fully responsible for the quality of learned material. All this greatly increases the creative activity of students, prompts them to self-studying and self-development, forms an active life position. The role of a teacher in this system of educational process is the role of the coordinator. He carries out a general leadership of the educational and creative process, acts as a consultant, an assistant, and most importantly – he is a professional-mentor, a senior mate who helps students to master the whole complex of knowledge, skills and abilities. In such motivated training, it is necessary to point out initial goals, determined by the teacher, which coincides with the educational motives of students. Only under such conditions, academic actions of the students will be transformed into conscious educational activities, the motivation of success will be created. That is why students study on the basis of partnership in the chorus studio. They make their proposals for project themes, develop the concept, choose the form of material presentation, create scenarios and are interested in preparatory and organizational work, as well as independently choose the direction of its own educational activity within the project – write or distribute musical solos and choral parties, make them choral. Arrangement or perform computer arrangement of musical accompaniment, etc. Execution of such a work not only reveals existing knowledge of students on the relevant educational subjects, but also requires mastering new knowledge and skills, assimilating the material of new educational subjects that are needed to implement the plan.

The paper presents the role of PWPW, as a company with some attributes of a natural monopoly, in contemporary Polish economy. It shows that commercial companies – performing special tasks which are necessary for the functioning of state and which concern identification as well as transactional security and at the same time take advantages of the economy of scale and range as a condition of their presence and development – have a logically justified place in the economy. They are a source of benefits for shareholders in the form of taxes, dividends and other economic benefits, as well as the value of the company itself. Moreover, they are creators of domestic employment and they enrich the national potential of technology. Also, such firms provide a right level of identification and transactional security, which influences the stability and reliability of legal and economic relations. The necessary conditions in order to realize the benefits coming from owning a company such as PWPW by the state are the company’s business continuity, the stability of its domain of action and the financial stability. These conditions can be fulfilled through a certain partnership between the state and PWPW in the form of a legal monopoly or lasting and stable commercial contracts.

This paper examines the dynamics between growth and profitability in an economic crisis context by considering the endogeneity of this relationship. It also analyzes the role of innovation and export intensity in the growth-profit relationship. Using a large firm-level dataset comprising Spanish manufacturing companies during the pre-crisis (2000–2007) and the crisis (2008–2014) period, static and dynamic panel data models are estimated. The analysis suggests the following results. First, in the short term, growth has a positive impact on profits, while the effect of profits on growth depends on the measure of growth used. So, employee’s growth requires previous profit but profit does not play a major role as determinant of sales growth. Second, profit rates are found to persist in the short term. In contrast, a reversion of turnover and employees growth rates is observed. Thirdly, the moderation analysis applied shows that the strategy that has enabled firms to grow is export. Moreover, the influence of the export intensity on profitability in the economic crisis period is obtained indirectly through sales and employee’s growth. Unlike expected, innovation efforts do not moderate the relationship between profitability and firm growth.
