Chapter 6 concerns denial of women’s right to life . The new frame of “femicide” has dramatically increased attention to gender-based killing in the public and private sphere, and encompasses a spectrum of threats and assaults that culminate in murder. The chapter follows the threats to women’s security through the life cycle, beginning with cases of “gendercide” (sex-selective abortion and infanticide) in India, then moving to honor killings in Turkey and Pakistan. We examine public femicide in Mexico and Central America—with comparison to the disappearance of indigenous women in Canada, as “second-class citizens” in a developed democracy. The chapter continues mapping the panorama of private sphere domestic violence in the semi-liberal gender regimes of China, Russia, Brazil, and the Philippines, along with a range of responses in law, public policy, advocacy, and protest.

The processes of globalization affect many economic and social processes, and the labor market is no exception. The situation in the labor market is always the center of attention for the state, business, and society as a whole. It determines the economic development of the country, social policy, the competitiveness of enterprises, and human capital. This article discusses global challenges such as the fourth industrial revolution, the digital transformation of society and industry, migration processes and informal employment, the problems of identifying social status for the population, and the system of accounting for social benefits. Because the labor market is experiencing the strongest impact of political, economic, social, and demographic processes, it has its own characteristics in each country, and this article discusses the internal problems of the Kazakhstan labor market. In addition, the article provides suggestions for improving social policy issues, employment through the automation of social processes and services, the digitalization of the public and private sectors, and the creation and development of information infrastructure of the labor market.

The dysfunction of the Tunisian labor market is exacerbated particularly by the segmentation between public and private sector employment. These different segments differ in terms of returns to human capital, social protection and mobility, affecting career development and the wage structure in the economy. In this chapter, we present the patterns of wage distribution in Tunisia across important socioeconomic groups and a detailed analysis of the wage gap between public and private sectors. Our results show particularly that while in the bottom sector of the wage distribution the positive wage gap between public and private sectors is mainly attributable to the composition or characteristics of workers, the wage gap in the upper sector of the distribution is due to returns to characteristics effect. The public-sector wage premium explains the strong preference in public positions.

The article examines current problems related to the consolidation of the status of Ukraine as a social state at the constitutional level. The model of the social state is currently not legally fixed, and the possibility of its definition and construction cause some discontent. The social situation brings to the fore the tasks of overcoming the crisis, rather than creating high standards of protection for people that are typical of social States. Attention is drawn to the need to unify the approach to understanding the term "guarantees of human and civil rights and freedoms", since this state of Affairs negatively affects the creation by the state of a powerful legal mechanism for implementing social guarantees that Ukraine has assumed. It is noted that social standards and guarantees are extremely important for the implementation of state policies to ensure that people are provided with material goods and services, as well as appropriate financial resources. It is argued that a system of legal guarantees, both national and international, is essential for the realization of the human right to social protection. It is clear that the absence of an integrated system of state social standards in Ukraine carries significant risks. The author points out some problems that affect the social security of citizens and the reduction of their social security, as well as the need to create an effective system of social guarantees in a short time. It is emphasized that there are serious problems in the use of state budget funds, which, as a rule, 1 provide social guarantees, the need to attract non-budgetary (non-government) funds.

In this article, our objective is to discuss the production of gender inequality by journalism, both in the content production and in media companies’ work structures, and the public process of denouncing this phenomenon in social networks. The publication of a chronicle in the newspaper Correio Braziliense entitled "The Intern/Melissinha’s first day of work", is the starting point. By sexualizing the entry of young women journalism students into the newspaper's editorial office, the chronicle reproduces and naturalizes gender-based violence that is systematically installed in some of these spaces. We note that the case can be understood as a feminization process that undertook discursive battles to combat gender discrimination against female journalism interns or against professional journalist women.
