Experiences from Health Information Systems Implementation Projects Reported in Canada Between 1991 and 1997

Canada’s Health Informatics Association has been hosting annual conferences since the 1970’s as a way of bringing information systems professionals, health practitioners, policy makers, researchers and industry together to share their ideas and experiences in the use of information systems in the health sector. This paper describes our findings on the outcome of information systems implementation projects reported at these conferences in the 1990s. Fifty implementation projects published in the conference proceedings were reviewed and the authors or designates of 24 of these projects were interviewed. The overall experiences, which are consistent with existing implementation literature, suggest the need for organizational commitment; resource support and training; managing project, change process and communication; organizational/user involvement and teams approach; system capability; information quality; and demonstrable positive consequences from computerization.

The research seeks to develop and test a theoretical model to explain the implementation and influences of human resource information systems (HRIS's) for a Malaysian higher education institution. Data was gathered from 103 respondents in the institution using a survey questionnaire. Results show that system factor, through information quality, and institution-based trust, through situational normality and structural assurance, contribute to user satisfaction. User satisfaction and situational normality predict user-perceived HRIS benefits. Findings aid researchers and practitioners in human resource function when explaining user-perceived benefits and satisfaction with HRIS implementation. The research advances understanding of the role of HRIS in supporting human capital performance and enhancing productivity.

Objective - Nowadays, computer-based systems are used more to create, store and transfer information. Reliable accounting information will have impact on decision making. In other words, the success of an organization will depend heavily on the accounting information quality owned. Accounting information is generated from accounting information systems. The objective of this research is to know the extent if the knowledge influence of accounting information users towards implementation quality of accounting information systems and implication towards accounting information quality. Methodology/Technique - Instrument of data collection is using enclosed questionnaire filled by managers/chief of accounting and finance as well as branch chief of 63 insurance companies in Indonesia. SEM-PLS is used as a tool for processing data and hypothesis testing. Findings - The result of this research obtained empirical evidence that quality of accounting information systems implementation is influenced by knowledge of accounting information systems use and quality of accounting information influenced by quality of accounting information systems implementation. Novelty - The result of this study is consistent with theories and strengthens previous research results. The result contributes to the development of science, especially in the field of AIS. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between accounting information systems implementation and the governance of rural banks (bank perkreditan rakyat/BPR). Specifically, this study examines the effect of bookkeeping systems, financial reporting, budgeting systems, and IFRS for SMEs implementation on good corporate governance of rural banks.   PLS-SEM wasemployed for data analysis to 145 rural banks registered in Regional Owned Bank Association of Central Java Indonesia. The results of data analysis found that bookkeeping systems, financial reporting and budgeting systems implemetation positively affectgood corporate governance of rural banks, while IFRS for SMEs implementation was not significantly affectgood corporate governance of rural banks.

Enterprise Information systems implementation is one of the most challenging parts of IT strategy for an organization, since implementation brings in efficiency in the system and justifies the investments made. Therefore, it becomes increasingly important to study the perspectives of implementation to understand the current dynamics. The purpose of this paper is twofold, first is to explore the type of literature that exists in information system implementation and secondly to determine the research methodologies incorporated therein for the information system field's implementation in specific. The basic content analysis is done to review the articles on information system implementation. A total of 47 articles were selected from peer reviewed journals and conferences. The study was conducted to assess the methodology used, the strategies followed along with the issues and challenges faced in the implementation. It presents an arena of the studies done in information system implementation in past 20 years (typically 1993 to 2013). The IMPLEMENT framework has been proposed to synthesize the literature finding for smooth functioning of IS implementation process. The factors influencing the adoption of information system innovation are described. The comprehensive framework for information innovation process is developed. This framework is then mapped to IMPLEMENT framework. This study would encourage the practitioners in the information systems domain to improve upon their organizational capability and incorporate other best practices.
