A discrete zinc bis[orotate(1—)] complex of the composition Zn(OrH)2·8 H2O has been isolated and characterized by a single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/c (No. 14), Z = 2, a = 10.884(2), b = 12.896(1), c = 6.954(1) Å, β = 98.27(1)°. The crystal lattice features hexaquo complexes of zinc, the Zn(H2O)62+ cations being associated with two hydrated OrH- ions only through hydrogen bonds. The results are relevant for applications of zinc orotates in medical treatment.

Abstract cis-Dioxo-dipicolinato-vanadate(V), Crystal Structure, IR, Raman The crystal structure of Cs[V(O)2(dipic)]·H2O (dipic = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate) has been determined by single crystal x-ray diffraction analysis. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/a, with cell constants a =737.8(3), 6=1917.5(5), c = 792.9(3) pm, β= 94.87(6)°, and Z = 4. The geometry about vanadium is a distorted trigonal bipyramid containing a cis-dioxo moiety (∢ O-V-O 109.9(3)°, V=O bond lengths 161.0(6) and 161.5(6) pm). Vibrational absorptions νs(V - 0) and νas(V=O) were found at 956 and 947 cm-1 in the IR and Raman spectrum, resp.

The crystal structure of 1-(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)ethanone (commonly known as 4-acetylpyrazole; C5H6N2O) was determined from single-crystal X-ray data at 173 K: monoclinic, space group P21/n (no. 14), a = 3.865(1), b = 5.155(1), c = 26.105(8) Å, β = 91.13(1)°, V = 520.0(2) Å3 and Z = 4. The adjacent molecules assemble into a wave-like ribbon structure in the solid state, linked by strong intermolecular N-H...N hydrogen bonds between the pyrazole rings and a weak C-H...O=C hydrogen bond involving the carbonyl group. The ribbons are stacked in the solid state via weak π interactions between the pyrazole rings.

Coordination polymers with a new rigid ligand 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)adamantane (L) were prepared by its reaction with cadmium(II) or silver(I) nitrates. Crystal structure of the coordination polymers was determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Silver formed two-dimensional coordination polymer [Ag(L)NO3]n, in which metal ions are linked by 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)adamantane ligands, coordinated by nitrogen atoms at positions 2 and 4 of 1,2,4-triazole rings. Layers of the coordination polymer consist of rare 18- and 30-membered {Ag2L2} and {Ag4L4} metallocycles. Cadmium(II) nitrate formed two kinds of one-dimensional coordination polymers depending on the metal-to-ligand ratio used in the synthesis. Coordination polymer [Cd(L)2(NO3)2]n was obtained in case of a 1:2 M:L ratio, while for M:L = 2:1 product {[Cd(L)(NO3)2(CH3OH)]·0.5CH3OH}n was isolated. All coordination polymers demonstrated ligand-centered emission near 450 nm upon excitation at 370 nm.

Abstract The crystalline compounds [(CH3C6H5)2Hg,][AlCl4]2 (1), [(1,2-(CH3)2C6H4)2Hg2][AlCl4]2(2), [(1,3,5-(CH3)3C6H3)2Hg2][AlCl4]2 (3), [1,2,4,5-(CH3)4C6H2Hg2][AlCl4]2 (4) and [((CH3)6C6)2Hg2][AlCl4]2-CH3C6H5 (5) have been prepared from mercury(I)chloride, aluminium trichloride and the corresponding arenes and characterized by elem ental analysis. The crystal structure of 5 has been determ ined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data and refined to R - 0.093 for 3269 unique reflections. Crystal data: monoclinic, space group P21/c, a = 2116(1), b = 1095.1(7), c = 1880(1) pm, β - 104,9(1)°, Z = 4. Each atom of a central Hg2 unit (Hg -Hg distance 251.5 pm) is asymmetrically complexed by hexamethylbenzene, the Hg - Carene distances being in the range from 241 to 340 pm. Two distorted AlCl4 tetrahedra complete a “molecular” [arene2Hg2][AlCl4]2 unit. The shortest Hg-Cl distances are 310 and 312 pm, respectively.
